I guess you are mixing the registry with the property database :)
Registry is a file which has all models' size information for the Building Inspector. I have a pretty big object database (around 18,000 different objects) tho the registry is still only 600K.

You gave the answer in your system specs. 64MB of ram is just barely enough to keep Windows in the memory :) What happens is that your swapfile grew pretty big while you were in AW and when you exit from it - AW saves it's cache and Windows cleans up the swap file. I consider it normal (especially since your HD is not the fastest one either)

I'm a world owner (Storage) where we have public building rights to everyone since 1996. I just HATE to touch (delete) others work. We even have the tourist protection program too :) On the other hand - if a bad crash occurs I could lose a few days of work. I just can not go around and notify our 200+ builders about! If we find abandoned lots with just covering we try to contact the builder first (with pretty good success) before doing anything with it. We even try to get those who build on excluded parts of Storage and offering them to move their buildings to a free location. This is a chore we have to deal with as world owners.
There are different approaches but usually those worlds tell you up front that your build could be demolished. I am not familiar with those since I rarely build.
World owners are different - like all the ppl. Sometimes they can't even give any notification (like if they just let the world expire) or it is a trial world. We have to live with the differences.

I'm not a Gor fan myself but the policy (asking your age) seems a correct way to go.
Of course you still have to maintain the "X" rating for those worlds.

I don't want to start a flamewar here. so my comments are:
1, Eep is more or less right - the question is NOT AW related but:
2, Nova's request is not absolutely off-topic. There is no other forum to ask the members of this community (whom he is familiar) in such a broad way (and he is looking for ppl in general to help him).
Sometimes you just can't find a broad enough audience to ask something:)

Hi,
This is a very good think so many people tryes to help with creating newsgroups. Unfortunately you guys did not think what will happen if there is 10s of newsgroups around the same topic. Each group will have a few regular visitors, but only a few ppl will be able to keep track all of them. The beauty of the newsgroup in our case that it reaches a huge audience with common interest. If we create several of them - we dilute this advantage.
Yes - there is a need for an unmoderated (and no user/password protected group) where even tourists can ask / post questions but there is NO NEED for ngs which lifetime is only a few month/weeks (depends on the creator's desire) and only a few ppl frequent them. Don't forget folks, the older an ng the more answer can you find in them with a simple search!
To maintain a newsgroup (even when it is not moderated) requires attention by the owner. It needs server which runs 24/7 and with proper backups and protection agains mishaps/hackers/etc.
So far I don't know too many of such a groups which meet those criterias.
Andras
P.S. I didn't tell this because I run an ng but I frequent several well established newsgroups and learned from their past :)

Before you do that I have a friendly warning:
All objects will change its color/tone/whatever if you add the texturemode lit command to them (and they did not have it before). IMO it is a dangerous action!! Zillions of beautiful constructions will be screwed up badly!
Think about it! AW has 70,000,000 objects. If you change 1/10th of the objects statistically it will affect about 7,000,000 existing objects inworld!!!
I know everyone wants those nice features but .... I would rather introduce another sets of objects with those commands added!
Make sense?
I hope,

To make things simple for you Facter, I volunteer <sp?> to make the necessary changes on AW's objects (even on Yellow and Mars and etc) You know me - I'll write a tool to do that in no time :) This tool will add the "l" prefix to the object as Lara proposed (or how about adding it as a suffix? Like walk029hl.rwx? - maybe it will lead to confusion? It is up to you folks to pick the best naming method!) We should keep the names as short as possible (Darned BI!!)
