L: and now some of us can go throw up L: unless of course you believe in God :-) Replying to: I actually kind of agree....not that you guys are kids for your opinions, but I think anyone has the right to get married if they want to. (Meaning..human beings / adults...NOT adults and children or adults and animals... those are a means for mental therapy right there.) If two women want to get married, that's their right, no big deal. People shouldn't be judged just because they are gay. A lot of people stereotype gays as being bad people and they aren't, they are just like everyone else, except they have a different sexuality. L: I think it does belong here its part of the AW community but if anyone is offended its not by what is said here but rather by their own deeds......so don't blame those of us who have morals and good values with what those ppl are doing....... Sure, say hello to gay people and other minorities, send them cards... as long as they stay where they belong, accept they are inmoral and godless? Great deal! American constitution may say what it wants, I'm a European citizen. I am familiar with the discussion of the pros and cons of same sex unions, the discussion goes on not only in Massachussets, and we all have different opinions about it. That is ok. What is not ok is expressing opinions the way they have been in this thread. Does the american constitution not protect against denigrating others? reason for this, or maybe your connection to the object path is not good. To the AW community,
I'm very sorry to hear this. Daphne and myself had at first a very cordial relationship. This turned later into clashings, and since a while were were not on speaking terms. Even then, I always respected and admired Daphne's dedication to the community. She will be missed by friend and foe. My sincere condolences to her family and friends, she will remain in my thoughts and prayers. I transmitted these sad news to DigitalSpace (Bruce Damer aka digigardener, and Stuart Gold, aka San Marco). Sounds quite a lot like how the USA administration gets elected:)
In fact, all contests have the same problem. There is no way to change that, the voters have the voice. If they do not chose to honour you with a visit, or with an honest choice, that's part of the game, which you have to accept when you participate. The other alternative, that the CY used some time ago I believe, and so did the AVVY awards, is to have appointed judges to decide who gets what; the criticism there is favoritism and corruption. My suggestion: you either participate knowing the drawbacks, and are ready to accept the verdict, or you ask to be removed from the contest nomination list. I think the CY commitee has done its best to reflect what the voters cast, but they can't change human nature. Alex [View Quote] >You got that rite duskbat! Thats exactly what it is! I know, Ciena. I never like taking part in contests, just for that reason. CY for me is different in a way, because of how I feel my involvement with my bots. But even so, if I get nominated - and it has happened a few times- I sweat like mad. I got two awards in the past for my bot, and the whole tension was hell. This time, I did not get nominated and was happy... I did not remember there are the Lifetime Achievement awards, that are not from present nominations, which I never expected to get... I almost had a fit when I heard at the end of the ceremony that I got one this time! I wish you a lot of luck with your creations, that's what counts. Whether you get nominated, get a prize or not, is not really relevant (but is very satisfying if you do, I don't deny that... in spite of all, I'm still human, my bot Delph keeps throwing that word at me!). Keep on your good work! Cheers, Alex [View Quote] CyAward DiscussionMay 26, 2004, 8:03pm

Whatever your own opinion... if you have proof of criminal activity
against someone (you say 2 stolen cits), don't come and crap it into the ngs. This person has now, in the ngs, been accused of child stalking, running a pedo network, etc, all with not to anyone revealed but so called proven facts... extremely damaging accusations. In a civilised society (probably NOT the USA) these activities would be reported to proper authorities, which would have been compelled to deal accordingly. Even in the barbaric USA (check the wondefull activities by civilised USA in Iraqi prisons, as a new example of USA model civilization), methinks, the rule is that a person is inocent until proved guilty. Here, the sport seems to be to dump accusations of all kinds into the ngs, founded or unfounded, whatever suits the case. This having been said, I dont give an excrement about this person's alleged drinking problems. If this person needs help, let this person go where this person can get it, not here. Good point, showing your barbaric state. Not that there is ANY indication that the people who were tortured in such a way had anything remotely to do with sept 11. And even if they had, there is such thing as human rights and the Geneva convention. Or do you still linch niggers in the USA? What about the 1000s who have innocently died from USA intervention in Uruguay (my country), Chile, many many other countries, just to save and protect USA investments? Get real! USA is part of the world, NOT the world. It should respect the world, not try to dominate it. There is no excuse whatsoever for ignoring international treatments, as the USA does, whenever they feel like it, but preemptively striking against nations who, in USAs own eyes, do not respect these same treaties USA despises. Maybe you should just stick to your village, it's safer there. The wider world might be too much for you :) Alex Re: CY Results?May 24, 2004, 10:43pm
Ciena,
I know this. USA people, like people all around the world, are just people and deserve my respect. I'm not judging people, I'm just apalled at what some with so called high moral standards can justify. This includes the perpetrators of sept 11 (who claim high moral issues btw) and those of the USA Iraqi torturers and their superiors (who also claim high moral motives). I'm also apalled at many statements in this ng, acusing people right and left of hideous things, damaging their reputations, in the name of high moral standards. Bad things start small: if you can not respect your neighbour, however different, you will never respect the world with its many cultures. Those few servicemen and women could never have done this sort of thing without knowledge and consent of their superiors, and their superiors too. "Ich habe es nicht gewust" is no credible excuse, "what they did to us" even less. Alex [View Quote] >xelag, the american people are appalled at what happened in that prison. and >u can bet they will be punished. and whoever ordered that behavior will be >punished. and it makes me sick to my stomach to see those photos and to know >what those few service men and women did. 498 is the last 3.4 browser. It is incredible that after all the work
that went into that browser, AW has not updated the 3.4 installer. Typical. The fixes in 498 are very important: they concern a long standing problem caused when avatars fade away (when they leave), which made browsers crash. If you had avatar animations off, the crashes did not occur. I spent two weeks testing, and so did many in a Dutch universe that was having constant problems with crashes. Chrispeg in the end found the error and managed to fix it. I hope AW staff reads this and takes a few minutes of their valuable time to update the installer, for their own glory and for all those who need it.
