alexthe martian, if you use dotted ip instead of domain name for your
object path, you should not have the conversion problem I think.

World owners, I just received an email with a list of worlds and
their object passwords, allegedely sent by Chritopher Stevens (a new M

Ashmore
England
FRANCE!
Amigos3
Olympe
Tarosaki
Legenda
brasil3d
FemZone
Taurius
AAWR
Russian
Spanish
Aeon
Vega

I will only send the details to caretakers who can prove they are
such.

Let me rephrase: it is only the caretaker's business whether the
password has been changed or not. In the case of another world which
appears in both lists, I know that the password had been changed
recently, and that the password in the new list is the new one.

well there are php coded object paths in the list. the point is, php
can only check if the referer (AW browser) is correct... and the
referer can be spoofed.

Ciena, it does not need to be a cit. The only thing it needs is a way
to find out the url of the OP (any AW browser cache will help), and to
know/guess the name of objects/avatars (easily done by turning on
"print object errors in chat window", most worlds have objects with
errors). The rest is done thru the web. The thief will be much
obliged if commonly used objects, objects which can be found
unpassworded, are passworded in that particular OP. This makes the
task of cracking the password much easier. Also, one should never
password the avatars.dat or the SEQ files, because they can be found
unpassworded in the browser's cache. Even so... passwords can be
cracked.

I just sent princess nerwen a couple of emails. I think that we have

that is exactly what she has done, including Lady Murasaki's password.
LM may have changed it or not, but that is not our business. I know
princess nerwen did not mean harm, but still, we need to use our
brains carefully. Please DO NOT post the contents of this sort of

Solar system's 10th planet confirmed

Mar 15, 2004, 11:27pm
Hmm, nice. Well even Pluto and its sligtly smaller moon (actually a
double planet system) are not by all astrononers considered as
planets, they crave to fall into the planetoid (not a planet but
almost) category. Sedna certaily falls into this category.

VRT time should change with daylight savings

Apr 2, 2004, 11:52am
Every time zone in the northern hemisphere has different rules for
changing from winter to summer time, and similarly in the southern
hemisphere, but there the changes go in reverse (when it summer in the
north, its winter in the south). The beauty of VRT (like of UT) is
that it *does not* apply these daylight-saving corrections, so that we
can have a universal steady reference to time. VRT is exactly two
hours behind UT (=GMT).

For example, for me in the Netherlands, a week ago it was 3 hours
behind, now it is 4 hours behind my local time. But the VRT for me
and for the States or Autralia or Uruguay is the same.

[View Quote] >I don't know about you, but I get REALLY annoyed when I suddenly switch
>from 2 hours ahead of VRT to a whole THREE hours ahead of VRT!

I get annoyed when I forget that my local time has changed, as happens
twice a year, and I'm out of sync with everything around me for at
least a day :)

Alex

VRT time should change with daylight savings

Apr 2, 2004, 3:03pm
No it did not. The UK's time is not the same as GMT. What changed is
your local time, which is based on GMT. In the winter it coincides
with GMT (this defines your time zone = GMT + 0), in the "summer" one
supplementary hour is added to it (your time zone remains by
definition GMT + 0, but the actual time is GMT + 1). GMT, better
called UT, never changes in this way with the seasons :)

Alex

VRT time should change with daylight savings

Have a look here:

http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/home.htm

It is a very common error I have noticed in many UK residents that
they think that their Local Time (the time clocks show) is GMT. It is
not. Their Time Zone is GMT, quite a logical choice, since Greenwich
is in England. But Local Time (what clocks show) is Time Zone + an
adjustment. In winter, this adjustment is usually 0 (although during
the war, this was +1hr). In spring, summer and autumn, the adjustment
is +1hr. Her Majesty's Government decides when an adjustment is
needed :)

I'm sure it does. But a LEGAL version of PSP is much cheaper than a
LEGAL version of Photoshop, and can do a lot :) I have now PSP 8, and
am a bit at a loss, coz they changed almost everything... will need a
course in it LOL! I still uses PSP 7, until I can make the jump.

Xelagot 3.500 available

Apr 5, 2004, 2:17pm
This version of Xelagot (x1, Av99bot and srvcXlgBot) is the first one
using the just released 3.5 SDK build 37 beta.

I have waited a long time to release it due to the fact that, for the
first time in AW's history, we were not provided with a beta SDK
until last friday, despite the fact that 3.5 has been in open beta
since december or january.

Besides adding a few of the new SDK features, I added lots of
enhancements to the Survey Manager and other user utilities. Please
read What's New for more details:

I hope you enjoy this version :)

Final Nominations Posted

Hi Bit,

I think you might want to shorten the Wrtite-In category entry VWTV
description :)

Also, I'd suggest you find a way to allow people NOT to vote for
certain categories, the way it is set up now you have to make a
choice, whether you want it or not :)

Cheers,
