Ciena,
I know this. USA people, like people all around the world, are just people and deserve my respect. I'm not judging people, I'm just apalled at what some with so called high moral standards can justify. This includes the perpetrators of sept 11 (who claim high moral issues btw) and those of the USA Iraqi torturers and their superiors (who also claim high moral motives). I'm also apalled at many statements in this ng, acusing people right and left of hideous things, damaging their reputations, in the name of high moral standards. Bad things start small: if you can not respect your neighbour, however different, you will never respect the world with its many cultures. Those few servicemen and women could never have done this sort of thing without knowledge and consent of their superiors, and their superiors too. "Ich habe es nicht gewust" is no credible excuse, "what they did to us" even less. But please dont judge the whole >country for those horrific deeds. I, and i'm sure most of us are imbarrassed >and ashamed what our service men and women did there. |
