:o/ ... not sure when/if MM will find time to get someone to update objectd' website LNH -- [View Quote] There Turns Off Road to NowhereAug 29, 2004, 8:45pm
Same here, I wanted to get into the design aspect but my *newbie* therebucks
didn't last long and as a result I couldn't afford to *submit designs* and pay real money. Paying for membership should be enough. This is a passtime not life n death. I can't afford to pay them to submit my designs and chance they may or may not sell. I don't want to pay them more than I've already paid for my beta lifer either. So, I do my required 2 hrs / mth and that's it! LNH -- [View Quote] Media in cacheAug 27, 2004, 6:35pm
I think they're saved in the internet cache folder, but there they are not
saved in the same format they are d/l so looking for .wmv doesn't do anything for ya. Also the internet cache folder can be one or many within and it's a bear to find anything in it. LNH -- [View Quote] Media in cacheAug 28, 2004, 3:42pm
Owie ... that's huge for dialup LOL. Anyway I did find the origin of that
vid, you can also d/l it from the url below but I suggest folks copy it to your HD and u/l to your op if you can, and not link to it because that may cause this guy to take it offline. It does rock and he's got a few more besides! LNH -- [View Quote] Media in cacheAug 28, 2004, 3:45pm
I see that the url for this changes frequently (on the site of origin), I've
done this video in my world at two diff locations so far and both end up dead links ... if the file wasn't so big I'd keep it on my own op but it's just to big ... the NASA TV link rocks too but it's also intermittent! LNH -- [View Quote] AWI ... update your webpages :o/Aug 28, 2004, 3:38pm

Another person I know is having the same issue. She says it only happens to
her in my world tho LOL. Not sure what is causing it but seems no one has suggested the recent upgrade ... perhaps there's a bug to be nailed there somewhere??? LNH -- [View Quote] GMail!Sep 1, 2004, 10:32am

I gotta ask, see below...
G = GENERAL AUDIENCES All ages admitted. PG = PARENTAL GUIDANCE SUGGESTED Some material may not be suitable for children. PG-13 = PARENTS STRONGLY CAUTIONED Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13. R = RESTRICTED Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian. NC-17 (was X) = NO ONE 17 AND UNDER ADMITTED (must be 18 or older) That being said and assuming aw guidelines are following the above, I have to say that G and PG would pretty much be useless no? If PG-13 requires Parental Guidance then so should G and PG since that apparently applies to anyone under 12 as well as over 12!? Why would PG *suggest parental guidance* while PG-13 *Strongly recommends* it? Seems abit backward doesn't it??? I wonder what (if any) legal ramifications there might be to owners of G (me included) and PG worlds should a child under 12 be subjected to anything not suitable for 12 and under. Why would parents allow their children on at ages of 12 or less anyway ... alone??? Are G and PG worlds expected to police their worlds 24/7? Even awgate doesn't have coverage 24/7. How is one to rate their world less than PG-13 since one cannot control who comes in and pretty much what is said until it's too late anyway LOL, assuming you leave your world open for *all ages admitted* ... inquiring minds want your 2 cents worth... LNH ^^^ *thinks the movie/aw ratings need to be revamped for proper chronolical order* -- Movie / AW Ratings...Sep 2, 2004, 7:46am
I consider my world a *safe haven* for all, old and young alike. There are
folks that just wanna go somewhere and chat and feel they won't be subjected to certain things. Now I'm not suggesting *certain things* are bad ... just different strokes for different folks. I wanted my world to be open to all for a nice *general, for all* atomosphere. All worlds have their place and their theme and all worlds are great because they allow for variation. I just think the ratings need to be revamped. Although my world isn't only for children so I'm not sure if that rating system mentioned previously would work well either. I don't want folks thinking my world is only for 12 and under because it's not ... my world is for everyone that wants to come and enjoy some good company and fun chat. I try to steer clear of rules except to say it is g-rated, keep the convo clean. I get visitors of all ages and I love that! So far it seems to have served me well but I was just wondering what others thought also. LNH -- [View Quote] Movie / AW Ratings...Sep 2, 2004, 7:48am
For our Russian friendsSep 4, 2004, 5:15am
need help againSep 4, 2004, 6:36pm
Also, it's possible that she's installed aw in more than one place and is
simply deleting the wrong cache folder. I know I do that alot LOL. I've gotten smart tho, I now have one folder for aw, and then install new installs to their own subfolder. So I have ActiveWorlds/3.4/ or ActiveWorlds/3.5/ or ActiveWorlds/3.6/ for instance. As long as you use just one icon (or name each icon for it's own version) on your desktop then you'll be getting on with the version you expect AND sure makes being in the right cache alot easier! But ya, go in to World Features under General and change *world refresh* from 10080 to 0 and then have your friend leave and come back. She will be forced to reload. Then you can change it back to 10080 after she returns and is fully reloaded (and sees the new object). It's always best to rename an object or texture to avoid this problem. :o} LNH -- [View Quote] need help againSep 5, 2004, 8:56am
Ah ok ... well then a forced world/op refresh is your answer, as previously
suggested. Let us know how it worked out! LNH -- [View Quote] Free Promo for AW?Sep 6, 2004, 10:13pm

Only CTs can edit terrain so *noobs* couldn't do spikes anyway could they?
LNH -- > 1: Terrain has a very far visibility. In AWTeen it is 800 meters I believe. > If some n00b makes a terrain spike, it isn't as simple as reducing the > visibility to remove the ugliness. > 2: Alpha World is huge, with over 4 billion cells. I'm not sure how much of > a strain it would be for a demeter bot to manage a world of such size. VIRUS or real?Sep 15, 2004, 12:46pm
Unfortunately it's a virus, there probably is no such email for awi. I have
a domain and it gets spoofed with such viruses using email addresses that don't actually exist on my domain. If awi were to offer you a job I'd bet they would not include an attachment ... especially without letting you know it's coming first. Webpage links to worlds stopped working?Oct 8, 2004, 10:28pm
It's been brought to my attention that the webpage url from my website to my
world isn't working, nor is it working from the site of the person who notified me of the problem (not Mauz btw LOL). I've grammed ENZO the following: ***************************************************** Teleport links from a website to worlds are no longer working, can you tell me whatz up with that ... or when/if you are going to fix it? A couple of examples of world links on webpages are: Mauz's http://objects.activeworlds.com/cgi-bin/teleport.cgi?aw_7700N_7700E Mine http://objects.activeworlds.com/cgi-bin/teleport.cgi?Aeon I was notified of this problem via yet another user who says it's only been occuring since he d/l 553 but I'm on 551 and I'm having the same problem :o/ ***************************************************** I'm sure he'll reply if/when he finds out what's up, but I was wondering if anyone else knows of this &/or if there's a cure? I'm thinking it's a CGI issue on AWI's website? Any confirmation? LNH -- |
