Belgium to Australia (was Re: Safety)

>awesome , you are born at the place where my fav club plays :D . tell me the
>story why you moved :)

Welp, my parents were running a little butcher shop in Bruxelles which was loosing money really fast... One of my parents relatives happened to be living in Australia and offered my father a job over there as a production manager in the small goods industry. Sooo, we moved here in Australia with only $500. But luckily with the Belgian government system, my mother was still getting her weekly wage for another 2 years sent to her bank account.
I was 7 years of age when we moved to Australia back in 1989.

Anyway, I have been back in Belgium since to visit family. Actually, I was at 'La Grande Place' - Bruxelles for the year 2000 count down. With fire crackers getting thrown around and that cool laser/lights show at the Kings palace. The beer there is much better than the weak beer here in Australia, that's for sure (oh, and the chocolate!).
That was one of the funnest nights I ever had. Actually, I even got into the night clubs without needing ID, and drank anything without getting asked for ID either (I was wasted).

There ya go, and now my french accent is gone and has been long replaced with the all might Aussie accent (not the case for my parents though: MUHAHAHA). I still speak fluent french, although I am illiterate in it (which comes naturally when leaving your country at only 7 years of age), and my Aussie accent is heard in my french.

The way I see it, and how *I* do it on weekends... Is if I start getting a headache, I drink more, magically getting rid of the headache for me. Works better than headache tablets. Be sure not to run around like an idiot while drinking so much, cause all that gas really does pay up in the stomach, and you'll probably even find the toilet becoming your best friend.

Linn, did you even know some companies even hire some hackers so they can try to do their *worst*? They get paid for finding loopholes and security problems. They actually get paid quite a lot for what they do. Ok, Sleepy E isn't hired by AW, but if he's using expired cits to stay in AW and do his *stuff* then I guess what he's getting paid is the right to stay in AW and use the cits he wishes?

It's not bad, but some functions cause it to pause for me. Really nice idea, but it's got links to Outlook Express and called Outlook Express, should be much more customizable.

You can't change the big pictures which say "Double-Click Me", but I guess that's their way of advertising during the free public versions.

If I wanted to stay in a 3d world I leave AW running in the foreground in AFK mode and it can look just as good if not better; without working links to programs...

Hey, doesn't that give us an idea for a new AW Feature... More for personal 3d homepages...

I dunno, but it seems most new users hang around noting everyone else's attitude and take it into their own hands once they 'think' they have got everyone's respect, and turn into something completely un-expected.

Well, no matter if he's doing that :o)

Right now he may be racking up credits, but every now and then, the property and bank database etc is wiped occasionally, meaning you gotta re-register all over again and purchase your land again.
Soon, when you stay idle for a period of time, you'll no longer 'rack up' credits. So people with cable and such can't cheat and get their credits.

What else they're doing is, if you spend heaps of time out of NewAW and haven't been in for a while, your credits slowly drop, like a tax rate... Brings people back into NewAW and such.

In response, I did ask frizzle, and here is what he had to say:

===========================================================================
You can do this with the module I made for Tekadence Magik fairly easily...
in fact I have an example bot on my website that uses the borland babel web
service (same thing as the altavista babelfish except it translates to
humorous versions of english, not other languages).

I've also been wanting to play test Sims Online, but they do not deliver over to Australia yet <sigh>. I dunno if it would truly keep my interests up for too long though, as I've played all the other Sims versions (add-ons etc) and get sick of doing the same thing over and over real quick. Yes, Sims Online is much different, so I've seen. But still, would interest my sister much more, so worth looking into. Maybe when it becomes public release (non-beta) I'll give it a 'try'. But AW will be with me till the day I die... Or if AW goes down before me... AW is a BIG part of my life on and offline.

Things are always hopping... I guess it depends where you're looking though. Citizen Numbers are still rising really fast, depending on the day there are ups and downs... #'s are up to 3500** now I believe. Registered my little 8 yr old brother an account (and yes, I'm PAYING for it) also. Anyway, we see MANY newbies come and go from AWNewbie and AWSchool, and we see many of those suddenly register and come in cheerfully and go off browsing all the hundreds of public worlds. Whether or not they keep on paying monthly I wouldn't know.

Something I propose is that AWI do not wipe out cits that don't renew, so that if someone doesn't renew for a while because of money problems, they can come back later and keep going. Also, maybe if a cit is expired, when you try to send a telegram it gives you a message, such as "Sorry, but this citizenship has expired"... Something like that, and PPW's don't work.

Anyway, kinda went off track there didn't I?

Hope you come back soon Syntax. We don't know each other very well, but we do know each other, lol. You're a good guy, don't go vanishing from the face of AW. We need our oldies!

You can model and import models into The Sims. This isn't possible in Sims Online though, not unless it's added to an expansion pack which others would have to purchase also.

Windows Update

Hi All,

I've got a slight problem with my Windows Update.

I'm using Windows XP and apparently the Windows Update program has a new version. It tells me to click Update Now so that I can update the software and install it. I click it and wait about 1 minute and it goes back to where the 'Update Now' icon is. I've tried the MS Websites; found nothing.

Anyone else having or had this problem and know the solution?

Ok, I've tried this, put my cookies right down to low, overridden the cookie handling for the site, added it to trusted and nothing...

I start off with http://www.anduin-lothario.com/temp/snapp001.jpg
It comes up with this update software thing http://www.anduin-lothario.com/temp/snapp002.jpg
I click Update Now and I get http://www.anduin-lothario.com/temp/snapp003.jpg
For about a minute it sits on there, doing something and it goes right back to http://www.anduin-lothario.com/temp/snapp002.jpg.

Strange stuff!

[View Quote] Thanks Baron, that did it for me. Everything works like a charm again; you're very knowledgeable with these things!

> Btw it's obvious you are upset, your screenshots have an extra p :)
