Object Request, or Help?

Aug 1, 2002, 1:00am
In a galaxy far far away, known as general.discussion, an identity
claiming to be known as "eep" <eepNOSPAM at tnlc.com> scribed the
following:
>They're not animated masks; they're simply rotating to simulate being blown in the wind. I've done this a lot in old Hole (only running when I'm in AW).

Hmm, my bad. After looking carefully at the game, they are sprites,
but they are rotating. Sprites in AW face you, like in the game, but
there's no way of flipping and rotating them at all... Is there some
kind of object that can do this? Like a sprite, but can be rotated?
Animate panels I looked at, but they don't keep facing you, so it
wouldn't look at good if turning around and looking at it from a
different angle. Unless 2 of the animate panels were crossed together
to form an 'X' and then rotate them slightly. Wouldn't look anywhere
near as good though :-/

Ideas?

I've done that, but then when you face them from another direction
they aren't facing you anymore.
In games, the object always faces you (except when looking straight
down at it of course) and it can still rotate and look like wind is
blowing through it.

It depends if you had set your settings correctly in your Outlook
Express, which I noticed you are using.

Firstly, you want to go to 'Tool ==> Accounts', you go to your account
and choose the tab called 'Advanced'; You'll see down the bottom that
there is an option saying 'Leave a copy of messages on server' and you
can set for so many days and so on.
If this option wasn't set BEFORE your format and BEFORE downloading
all those old messages, none are left on your ISP's server I'm sorry
to say.

That's if you've got NTFS file format, Windows 2000/XP...
You might try searching www.google.com for 'Unerase' or something.
That might help, though I'm not sure, I've never had to use anything
like this myself.

I can only suggest for you to take a look at the site I found at
http://www.pccasegear.com.au (yes, I'm in Australia, you'll need to
find something in the U.S), and that you look at the link 'Fan Control
(http://www.pccasegear.com.au/category18_1.htm)'.

There you can find fan controllers which allow you to check your CPU
temperature as well as slow down or turn off fans without even having
to open your case every time. They cost as low as $125 AUS (around $60
US) and do a great job :)

Take a look at the rest of the site by the way, so many cool things to
make yourself a 'show off' with your computer and casing.

Alias: W32/Lentin.A at MM, W32/Valscr.A at mm, WORM_YAHA, Win32/Yaha.Worm
Category: Win32
Type: Worm
Wild:
Destructiveness:
Pervasiveness:

CHARACTERISTICS
Win32.Yaha is an e-mail worm which spreads using SMTP.

The worm arrives attached to an e-mail with the following Subject:

Fw: Melt the Heart of your Valentine with this beautiful Screen saver

The message attachment is always called "valentin.scr". It is 20,992 bytes
in size.

When executed, the worm searches the registry keys contained within:

"Software\Microsoft\Internet Account Manager\Accounts"

for an SMTP Server, From Address and Display Name. This information is used by the worm when performing its mass-mailing routine.

If a valid SMTP server is not found, one is selected from a predifined
list contained within the worm.

The worm tries to send an e-mail to all e-mail addresses contained within
the Windows Address Book, defined by the registry key:

"Software\Microsoft\WAB\WAB4\Wab File Name"

This file is copied to %Windows%\www.dll
All e-mail addresses extracted from this address book are then stored in
%Windows%\screendback.dll

It also searches html files contained within the Internet Cache Folders
for e-mail addresses to send to. These e-mail addresses are stored in the
file "%Windows%\screend.dll"

The worm makes two copies itself in the following locations:
"c:\recycled\msmdm.exe"
"c:\recycled\msscra.exe"

The worm also sets the registry key:

"HKLM\Software\Classes\exefile\shell\open\command" with the value "c:\recycled\msmdm %1 %*"

----------------

If you've deleted the 2 exe files and fixed up the registry key, maybe that helps. Also make sure there's nothing that loads upon starting up the PC...

Finding Property

Aug 27, 2002, 10:18pm
Hi all,

I have some really old property I wish to find again after years of searching...
It's from my first citizenship ever, just after being tourist and I built my very first thing. Unfortunately I no longer have access to that citizenship and have no clue on its PPW.

Is there still any way to find my old cits first build, or not at all? And yes, this is in AW.

You're getting the Win32.Klez.H worm virus. The most popular Virus around today :o)

Nothing to worry about though.

I found this out at http://www.vet.com.au/html/zoo/local/zoo_descriptions/klezh.htm
Check out the subjects you can receive, and they include your two:
o a ***** ***** patch
o the Garden of Eden

Ok, now, either someone is infected and has you in their Address book and it's automatically sending itself to you. I'm guessing this isn't the case, I'm actually guessing that you recently, without knowing, caught the HTML.MimeExploit which automatically launched (without your knowing, cause of stupid MICROSOFT products) the virus on you as well as one worm known as JS.Loop or something by that name. What the JS.Loop will do is, I think every day, resend the Win32.Klez.H worm to your inbox, with different From field email address and names, and different subjects.

I suggest you set a few settings up in your Outlook Express as well as get the latest virus protection files. I use VET Antivirus (www.vet.com.au).

In Outlook Express, go to Tools --> Options. In the 'read' tab, make sure that the 'Automatically download message when viewing in the Preview Pane' is UNCHECKED. Also, in the 'Security' tab, make sure that for 'Select the Internet Explorer Security Zone to Use' is RESTRICTED SITES ZONE (More Secure). And that you check the box for 'Do no allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus'.

Hope this helped at all :o)

Problems with activeworlds

Kick the computer case a few times real hard (even if it's not russian made). Then if that doesn't fix it, pick it up and smash it on the floor, jumping all over it and bending the case and wait till some smoke and dust comes out.

If that didn't fix it, the last resort is to get a new PC. Never buy a brand computer, go to a nice small computer store which make computers to your specifications with warranty on parts and labour. Problem should be solved ;o)
