GKs and their Perks

May 2, 2003, 6:01pm
AWHack can't do anything really serious. I'm not a programmer or anything
but I'm pretty sure stopping AWHack from working would make AW a lot
slower. Simply AWHack edits the AW browser in the RAM so it displays stuff
it normally hides and thinks it can go where it can't go.

Is there hope for 3.4?

Transparency implementation? I thought TS stopped doing transparency a
while ago an AW had to program their own simple transparency code? Or
something? That's how you get the bugs with masks now.

Yes that welcome message will definately make a lot of parents PARANOID.
It's not as bad as all that.

AWI waste their time on this when there are so many other little things
they could do to help the community.

I can't remember them right now, but they're there... somewhere...

What they meant was, someone would run a bot, and that bot would send the
ppw typed into it to somewhere, as well as logging into AW. This is a
trojan horse and it's not AWI's problem, or an AW security hole :)

Re: Please read / AW HACKED

Jul 17, 2003, 12:07pm
Simple, easy solution (unless the programmer of the bot is actually at
his computer when the ppw is received, then he can login to it straight
away).

No need to change PPW AFTER you're finished with the bot. I'm not sure
but I think you can change PPW and the bot will stay logged in. I know
that if someone else logs into your PPW, then you change PPW, they are
still logged in on the old PPW until they logout, so this will probably
work with bots too.

Other WMV files have worked on it though. It's like it's encoded to only
work properly on Windows Media Player... I mean I would expect it from
Microsoft, what with the latest version of Media Player being made to only
work on XP.
