Hi everyone:
[View Quote] that HUGE row of arches about 10-15 miles East of Hamsterville would fit this description. Intertown Highway 3 runs along both sides of it, depending on where you're at. > If I'm not mistaken, AlphaWorld does not allow bots to build, for the > reason mentioned above, but I think that if a bot simply builds a > normal amount, for example for a game or to move your objects etc, or > changes sings, which is also building technically, you would not get > into trouble. Last time I checked, the ONLY rules I know of concerning bots on AlphaWorld were 1). They had to be registered with AWI and 2). They couldn't be withing 20 meters IN ANY DIRECTION of Ground Zero. But i could be mistaken too. :-) > If you know how to look, you can catch bot building. Bots build at a > very fast rate, so an area where many objects have a similar timestamp > is a giveaway. However this can be VERY deceiving. Hi everyone:
Who all, besides VWTV, is planning to provide coverage OF ANY KIND on the 22nd? I know that VWTV is providing coverage of the ceremony itself, but I'd like to know who's providing other related coverage as well. One of the reasons I ask is because I thought I'd make use of Hamsterville's three parks as a gathering places so that the Cy Awards World isn't crowded with so many people who aren't there for the ceremony itself. :-) This will be a multi-venue event. The venues I have in mind are..... CEDAR LAKE PARK (next to Cheers) - AW 5027N 404E (yes Cheers will be finished by then) TOWN SQUARE PARK (across from Madison High School) - AW 5004N 224E (near the free speech staging area) EMBASSY PARK (across from the Riverside Expressway) - AW 5075N 53E All the venues will be open for anyone to join in on the fun. :-) There'll be viewers tuned in to ALL the networks at all three parks. While there, people can use this opportunity to find a place to call home in Hamsterville and build too. :-) Plans are already being made by yours truly. :-) Alpha, OneSummer, please feel free to pass this along. :-) Cheers for now everyone :-) PC Hamster Mayor - City of Hamsterville Denver, Colorado (my REAL city :-)) WEBSITE - http://hamsterville.tripod.com/ P.S.: Does anyone have the URL to the new VRTV directory? Hi everyone:
[View Quote] Perhaps, but weren't there unofficial Cy Awards parties on other worlds than cyawards in years past? I think I seem to recall one on AW GZ last time the Cys were held. Then again, I could be mistaken on that. :-) As for the VRTV coverage, I know VWTV is the official network and has been for the last few years. But didn't CTV have some type of pre and post ceremony coverage similar to the "red carpet arrivals" before the show and press conferences after the show (like what you would see on Oscar Night) along with VWTV? I seemingly recall CTV planning to provide something like this last year before the Cys were cancelled altogether last year. As was kinda thinking that either FBS or (most likely) DSTV would do something similar to what CTV had planned last year this time around. Perhaps someone from either/both of those networks could advise us on this? (looking at Ry from Ocean City). If there IS going to be such coverage planned, I could REALLY make it a party atmosphere (especially with music from ActiveWorlds Radio thrown in) :-) Anyhow...It's just a thought. :-) Cheers for now :-) PC Hamster Mayor - City of Hamsterville pchamster at comcast.net Denver, Colorado (my REAL city :-)) http://hamsterville.tripod.com/ Cy Awards VRTV CoverageMay 18, 2004, 8:21pm
Hi everyone:
[View Quote] This is what I'm planning. :-) Only difference is I'll have virtual JumboTrons tuned into VWTV and its coverage of the Cys as well as any other network providing whatever unofficial "red carpet" coverage they may be providing. > Regarding DSTV and FBS, I never heard of these stations. If they were > supposed to do something, they would have advised me. DSTV is Ry's network (or at least it's tied in with Ocean City). FBS is more commonly known as FBStv or something like that. There WAS a rumor (at least amongst the UETV crowd) that UETV was going to take over FBStv, but apparently that's all it was. Just a rumor. > And BTW since Pineriver left AW :-( , CTV, if it still exists, is not affiliated with the > Cys I know Pineriver took CTV off the air(and it was never affiliated with the Cys), but I didn't know he also left AW. Last I heard was that he was still going to remain a cit, but he just didn't have the time to keep CTV going with current shows, which was one of the reasons why he took CTV off the air. Anyhow, if anyone has the new VRTV directory URL that Pineriver put together a few months back, I'd sure appreciate it if it was posted. I'd hate to have to Google it and wind up getting the old old one (that thing is SO OUT OF DATE). Cheers for now :-) Cy Awards VRTV CoverageMay 19, 2004, 2:10am
Hi everyone:
[View Quote] Actually the correct coords. are 5125N 53E. I made a mistake earlier. Sorry 'bout that. :-( I made a park out of it. Couldn't really do anything else with that area with the river of water there. I also added a walkway and rows of trees at the edges. :-) I then called it Embassy Park as it runs alongside Embassy Avenue, which runs from 5100N from 0E to 272E. This is per the Yeti City "Embassy Avenue" program. :-) I'm planning to set up the Embassy Park Cy Awards party area somewhere around 5125N in the park, but away from the street itself since the Riverside Expressway is just on the other side. :-) Wouldn't want anybody to get virtually hit by a virtual car, now would we? :-) The coords. for the other two parks are pretty much on target. :-) Hope this helps :-) Cheers for now :-). I liked the ability to have the contacts, teleports, and telegrams tabs off to the side like 3.3 and 3.4 did as opposed to having to open a popup window just to answer or send a telegram. Perhaps AWI could make this an OPTION in 3.6 when it's released? And what is with having all those STUPID looking icons for the toolbar? They're too big. Make 'em smaller. I'm cross-posting this over to wishlist to ensure appropriate feedback and exposure. Aside from those things, I really can't complain about 3.5. Ferrucio (who stopped by just as I was getting ready to post this) gave his suggestions and also sugessted I (re)visit some other parking garages, which I'll do, but I also thought I'd get input from the community.at large too. Hi everyone:
[View Quote] As per my announcement last night, I have built a makeshift media demo site on the NW corner of South Beechwood Boulevard & East Archuletta Street, which is 4900N 819E. You should be able to see the viewer and the buttons from the corner, which I though was important since I'm also now planning to add video to my Drive-In Theater (thanks to the Internet Archive Open Source Feature Films section :-)) as soon as an encoder for Windows Media 10 is released. :-) I have all but AW1 linked (I don't know if I even have a working one on my site, though I'll poke around). Feel free to point to them in your demos, but gram me if you'd like the source stored on your own site (I'll be building in the area anyways :-)). We don't need to make it hard on Tripod to allow me to keep them on their servers. :-) If I can find a working version of AW1 on my site, I'll add it. But if I don't have one, at least you'll have the others to work with. :-) Cheers for now PC Hamster Mayor - City Of Hamsterville pchamster at comcast.net Denver, Colorado (my REAL city :-)) http://hamsterville.tripod.com/ No media in AlphaWorld???Aug 23, 2004, 1:09am

Hi everyone:
[View Quote] It gets even better now because I'm encoding a few flicks for my Drive-In Theater into Windows Media even as you read this (or at least as I type this! :-)). The Theater itself is already built (Has been for the last couple of years). All I need to do is change the X-Object used for the screen and add buttons on the sidepoles where the speaker would go in a reg'lar Drive-In back in the day. :-) If I'm successful with the flicks, it'll be among the first multimedia-enhanced builds on all of AlphaWorld (if not THE first one ON ALL OF ACTIVEWORLDS :-)). Either way you look at it, this would be quite an achievement. :-) No media in AlphaWorld???Aug 24, 2004, 3:13am
Hi everyone:
[View Quote] Erm....No....No....No. That isn't what I have in mind. You see, the Internet Archive has a Feature Films section that has a WHOLE BUNCH of flicks from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s that are PUBLIC DOMAIN which I plan to use. I did find a way of encoding them into Windows Media format using a 3rd Party video editing utility (I have Windows Media Player Beta 10 and the runtime environment thereof which makes the Windows Media Encoder program practically useless), but I've run into a new problem. The X Object used for the screen. Isn't there anything BIGGER & TALLER than xaw7 or xaw23 that's a screen? Seriously, xaw7 and its predecessor, xaw23 BOTH look INCREDIBLY small (In fact, they're almost TINY) in my Drive-In Theater at 4900N 232E. I tried xaw24 but that's only a frame (but it's big enough). Some suggestions in this area would be most useful. :-) No media in AlphaWorld???Aug 24, 2004, 3:58am
Hi everyone:
[View Quote] UPDATE: I'm now using an xaw2.rwx for the screen. while it's not quite as tall as the 9 xaw23 objects I had up before, it's just as wide (give or take an inch or two). Continuing to work on the movie flicks. :-) No media in AlphaWorld???Aug 24, 2004, 8:09pm
Hi everyone:
[View Quote] Why should I do something which YOU could just as easily DO YOURSELF (Especially with YOUR movie clip collection)??? As for the AW videos I have on my site (which were produced by Pineriver BTW), you're perfectly welcome to have your button objects point to them OR if you'd like them to be stored on your site instead, I can send them to in a series of emails addressed to a box that allows attachments. But really....WHY should *I* do something which you can just as easily DO YOURSELF??? It only took me 15-20 minutes to set up that makeshift demo site. And once I find storage space for my movies (at least the ones I'll be featuring), it'll probably take me just as long (IF even that) to add videos (and ultimately FINISH OFF) the Drive-In Theater since I already built the other stuff back in 2002. :-) Old Timer's Day Aug. 27 and 28Aug 22, 2004, 5:57am

Hi everyone:
Well....It took awhile, but I HAVE DONE IT. Introducing THE FIRST KNOWN **PERMANENT** MULTIMEDIA-ENHANCED BUILD on AlphaWorld (if not the entire ActiveWorlds Universe).. It is my Drive-In Theater located at 4900N 235E. There's a HUGE screen so you can see the movie. Right now, I only have one video listed, but am working on more (my goal is to have 3 videos which will be swapped out every few weeks or so like a real theater). Just simply click the button (the button is on the far side of the series of street objects attached to one of the poles). Although the theater has been around since 2002, this is still a WIP as I add buttons to the other poles and make some other changes (I want people to still be able to hear the movie when they visit the snack bar if at all possible). But FEEL FREE to have a look around, enjoy the flick and whatnot. :-) Of course, FEEDBACK WELCOME. :-) Cheers for now :-) PC Hamster Mayor - City Of Hamsterville pchamster at comcast.net Denver, Colorado (my REAL city :-)) http://hamsterville.tripod.com/ |
