I would agree with you here Ciena as MY "world" happens to be a part of
AlphaWorld and I don't use any tools. Heck, I don't even use bots in Hamsterville (at least not yet, though this could change :-)), let alone a "tool". AMEN Chris!!! :-)
However, OTFS of the token, we don't know if he *didn't* send it either. But yes, we shouldn't speculate like this and work on seeing to it that NO ONE ELSE becomes infected. Hi everyone:
[View Quote] It is (sadly) with this in mind that it wouldn't surprise me if we were soon required to choose a username AS WELL AS a password when we register to become a cit as this would be more in line with what ISPs do. As it is now on ActiveWorlds, we can switch from one name to another WITHOUT being prompted for a password. The suggestion in this post would change that whereas if you don't have the correct password, you CANNOT use a particular screen name. In other words, let's say I wanted to log in as pineriver. Under the CURRENT system, I could do this with ease. HOWEVER under the system I propose, I would be prompted for a password. If I don't have the password pineriver chose for his screen name, I can't use it. As such, I would be stuck using my own screen name. Does this make sense? OneSummer.....I don't believe you're a hacker. Some IDIOT is just trying to take advantage of your good name to make it look (and sound) as though you are a devious person. :( Sooner or later, this person WILL be caught and (hopefully) THROWN IN JAIL (both in VR and RL). Hi everyone:
I just ran Windows Update yesterday and noticed there was a new version of DirectX out (DirectX 9 Beta) and I now notice that the 3D Graphics pane in the AW browser "flickers" every so often (this is especially true when I add property and close the Object Properties box). The DirectX version I have is 9.0b (4.09.0000.0002). DXDiag doesn't detect anything wrong. Anyone have any ideas? Anyone else notice this too or is it just me? 512 MB RAM ATI RADEON 700 with 32 MB Video RAM (Latest Drivers too). But it's kinda odd as it seems to have resolved itself. Must've been an adjustment thing or something. Hi everyone:
[View Quote] TheLady.....Somehow I think YOU seem to think there's NO difference between VIRTUAL REALITY and REAL LIFE. In Virtual Reality, we may do things so ordinary that they coould be construed as being real such as setting up TV stations and starting a virtual economy, but at least SOME of us know WHEN to TURN THE SWITCH OFF!!! Somehow, I don't think you know how to do this. Sure we could hold elections, but what for? Besides, when we want to vote on something, it's usually for something like the Cy Awards. There's usually guidelines for this posted in this newsgroup as well as AWEC world. We have never.....REPEAT.....NEVER held an election to vote for someone to run the company as our vote is WORTHLESS to THE COMPANY who runs the servers (and pays the bills for them!) neccessary to KEEP THEM IN BUSINESS!!! Sure, they ask for community input (albeit rarely, but it does happen), but that IN NO WAY gives us the right to say that WE are in charge of the company. I say this because your "logic" has but one flaw.... E N Z O has the option of simply closing the company doors simply by locking the doors when he leaves and never coming back. This is just as powerful and effective as Captain Picard or Captain Janeway activating their ships' Auto-Destruct sequence when enemy or other unknown hostile forces take control of the Enterprise or Voyager in the world of Star Trek and Picard or Janeway can't regain control. It's as simple as that. Long and short of it being this....The Lady....You OBVIOUSLY have some SERIOUS mental issues. Why don't you do what Traci Lords recently did and GET OUT of the State of Denial you're in and ADDRESS your issues by GETTING HELP??? Who knows, maybe you could write a book about it and become a famous author like Traci has. Then again....This might be just a *bit* too much to ask of you.... Just my opinion.... Hi everyone:
[View Quote] Having said what I said above in my last post on the negative, on the POSITIVE side, such a tuner *would* be really cool IF it used the AW Mapper instead of cit info. from the AW browser itself. By that, let me explain.... Let's say (for the sake of discussion) I was tuning around the Yeti City TV Dial, but the coords. for my physical location I entered were 6500N 2000E. Given the directions Yeti City would be from my physical location, I would turn the tuner's rabbit ears towards the NE in order to pull in signals from Yeti City. Given the obstacles that would stand between me and Yeti City as well as the sheer distance between me and Yeti City, I would be LUCKY if | pulled in WRPM Channel 7, let alone the other two stations there. However if I enabled the tuner's "rooftop beam antenna", I might have a better chance. BTW....In case any of you are wondering, I am physically standing at 6500N 2000E on AlphaWorld and I can personally tell you I have no idea where the nearest road is I'm so far out (it's all open space for as far as the eye can see). Getting back to the potential of such a tuner as a legit program, if I were to turn the antennas to the SW, I just might get stations from the Hamsterville area. Some, if not most, of you may think would be pointless and useless. However, if you're just gonna build a farm out in the boondies of AlphaWorld, such a tool would be useful in determining what TV and Radio stations are the closest to you when you add a TV and decide what you're going to watch from your virtual farm way out in the boondies. :-) Then again....One could also add a virtual satellite dish too. :-) Something to think about??
