To get up and find out your account is not longer yours! This dreadful
occurrence that has taken place towards me and my account was almost to much
to bear! I want to thank everyone at Activeworlds offices who helped me this
morning to make sure I had no Trojan on my computer, nor did I or ever would
send out such a criminal thing. To those people or person that has posted
alleging that I did such a thing I think you have a very sick and evil mind.
Thank you to the people of Activeworlds you the members who know me and know
how hard I work to help everyone.. How my heart goes out to you all and I
was deeply touched by all the support you have gave to me.... I have never
understood why some people have to be mean or do harm to others! I want to
say also my faith in Activeworlds was not shaken ..... I sill strongly
believe in it ...... Warm Regards and thank you so much everyone for having
faith in the truth........ OneSummer

You may already know this but Ill post it here anyway
Let me just add that if you receive a telegram like this from someone
containing a link that leads to a trojan or AwToolkit.exe, it is most likely
that it is the trojan and not the actual person talking in the gram, and so
not to jump to the conclusion that they are evil lol
Thanks by the way for brock for clearing up the virus/trojan thing.

just assume that they are old posts. But yes that is good information

Hi everyone:

[View Quote] It is (sadly) with this in mind that it wouldn't surprise me if we were soon
required to choose a username AS WELL AS a password when we register to
become a cit as this would be more in line with what ISPs do. As it is now
on ActiveWorlds, we can switch from one name to another WITHOUT being
prompted for a password. The suggestion in this post would change that
whereas if you don't have the correct password, you CANNOT use a particular
screen name.

In other words, let's say I wanted to log in as pineriver. Under the
CURRENT system, I could do this with ease. HOWEVER under the system I
propose, I would be prompted for a password. If I don't have the password
pineriver chose for his screen name, I can't use it. As such, I would be
stuck using my own screen name.

Does this make sense?

OneSummer.....I don't believe you're a hacker. Some IDIOT is just trying to
take advantage of your good name to make it look (and sound) as though you
are a devious person. :( Sooner or later, this person WILL be caught and
(hopefully) THROWN IN JAIL (both in VR and RL).

Just my take on this

Cheers for now everyone :-)

Yes. very true that it is the trojan and not actually the person talking and
that jumping to the conclusion that they are evil is not perhaps as bad as
jumping to the conclusion that one person (the wrong person) was the one
that sent the trojan horse. In this case that would be OneSummer. Sorry that
it has happened to you OneSummer. It can be very hurtful to have your name
put out as the one doing a bad thing when you are truly an innocent
bystander. Calhoun, my son, is not evil though he did mistakenly point the
finger at you. As an 11 year old he has much to learn about not jumping to
conclusions. It happens to the best of us. Hopefully this too shall pass
'gracefully' but be remembered as so many of life's lessons should be. To
keep making the same mistakes would be such a waste of time.

Umm, PC, you do know that you can't take the username if it's already in
use, right? If someone were to try and change their name to "Goober
King", it would tell them it's already in use (However, they could
register "Goober Klng" and that would work fine).

Citizens are uniquely identified by their citizen number. If you want to
track down who's who, you use that number as that can never be changed.
This doesn't apply to tourists, of course, which I think M a t t has
been using as of late.

Hamster, have you never tried changing your name to, for example, "E N Z
O" - it doesn't allow you because "E N Z O" would no longer be a unique
screen name. You are allowed to use "E N Z O." with a full stop because "E
N Z O." is a unique screen name because of the full stop.
