have you been in a coma hon? Due to an incredible amount of dirty laundry
and massive flammage and a certain person hacking into people's accts again

an afterthought: it WOULD be nice if the AW community had a place to post

Gee, I wonder where ya got that idea for the avs to store and wear whenever
ya want to ....??? Hmmmm.... hehehhee. Ya also forgot WORKING MIRRORS dear
(shouts it out for AWI to hear if they're awake), and you also forgot that
it would be nice if AWI would update their avs!! Those avs are soooooo
outdated!! Even those boring ones in the 3Dwebsites are better looking than
in aw. The aw avs don't even have noses for crine-aut-laud! Maybe I got
spoiled from using the updated avs at another universe (that used to be the
parent of AW) Sorry, but as much of a fan of COFmeta builds, etc that I am,
I think Shanubia and Hotep should be burned on a bonfire. Whatya think? I
know the technology is out there. I've seen it. And no, the mirrors are NOT
bots such as the ones I"ve seen in some worlds in AW. These are different
since they reflect EVERYTHING in the room including a name tag.

Well I for one, followed the advice of some people here and disabled the
default bitmap which REALLY screwed up my view of textures!! Even when I
checked it back on again, the problem remained the same. (which goes to show
you that not all advice, even from the ngs, is good for all puters.) But
when I switched to T&L, for some reason that problem was corrected. Weird.

Probably because AW is stationed in the USA and there are certain guidelines
they MUST follow to operate a website like AW without getting into trouble
with American rating laws, etc etc. Penalties could range anywhere from
hefty fines to having to shut AW down completely. ;-"D

I was a VIP in Worlds.com for a few months earlier this year and,.. yes,..
it was EXTREMELY laggy, especially at their GZ. I have cable connection
but have a sucky puter and the reflections didn't cause any problems at all
for me. Even when my av wasn't downloaded, the reflection in the mirror had
absolutely NO lag whatsoever. I could easily see the reflection of the area
surrounding me. (I have some screen shots of my av in front of the mirrors
for those who are interested- gram me with your email addy and I will
gladly share them with you) And the reflections in Worlds.com were more
clear than the textures in my opinion. The textures were VERY pixelated for
me. LOL A few people there told me it was because most of the older
textures there weren't compatible with XP. However, I know for a FACT that a
few builders there have been using textures found on Lara's website for
years, so I don't think it was the textures that were the problem. ;-")
PS: I remember bringing up this very topic several times in the NGS. I
guess AW is more in need of updating their object yards and av selections
more than anything right now. And I can understand why. But can you imagine
the increase of new visitors to AW if reflections were possible???? And
for those of you who are wondering........ AW still RULES over Worlds.com.
Even tho Worlds had streaming video, reflections and customizable (and
easier-on-the-eyes) avs long before AW. The "building plots" they offer are
tiny "worlds" and have limited objects to use. Building there is soooooo
complicated also. And even though one can "float" if one resets their
altitude, one cannot fly or go thru objects. ;-"D

I totally agree with Strike. Although I can see Simba's point of view also.
However, numerous times a tourist will ask everyone at the gate to play a
game with them but nobody wants to leave the gate area. Sometimes a tourist
will actually go to the games, only to return back to the gate because there
was nobody to play the game with, and nobody there to help answer questions
about how to use the program. Surely a simple game of checkers would suffice
at the gate? It would give new users an idea of what is possible. It would
give them a taste of what a bot is. I remember it took me about a month to
figure out what people kept referring to as a bot. Not everyone is computer
or virtual reality friendly! ;-"D
We do need to make the gate area more enticing to not only the new visitors
but also the folks who have been a tourist for about a week and haven't YET
found a good enough reason to register. Exploring is fine.... using those
portals to the various GZ's is ok.... but usually those GZ's are empty.
Just think about what those new folks are thinking when they expect to find
other people there to talk to and make friends with ... and there is nobody
but vast areas to get lost in with no maps to guide them. Quite a few times
I've recommended bored tourists to go to AWUniversity to learn how to build,
but the signs there are overwhelming and can be very confusing for a person
who isn't user friendly. Oftentimes that world is empty and the poor,
overwhelmed and very bored tourist returns to the gate and after a few days
of doing nothing but chatting, decides it's not worth his time or effort.
The nifty sculptures are nice to look at and marvel at. But there is nothing
around the gate area indicating to the newbie that it is possible to build
them or how easy it is to learn how. To the new user everything at the gate
is just a pretty decoration. Nothing more. And some of those signs at the
gate are dead links, especially that NASA sign.
Advertising issues aside... we need to concentrate on how to keep our
tourists interested in the program. Leaving them to wander aimlessly about
to look at pretty decorative objects and landscaping isn't gonna do it. They
need interactive things. There.com has nifty toys to play with such as guns,
buggies you can actually drive, hoverboards you can ride, etc. How can AW
Gate compete with that? Game bots can be programed to whisper to the person
in blue, just like the CA does. Or perhaps in another color to reduce the
confusion. I'm sure SOMETHING can be done, if only AW would take the chance!
;-")

Now that has GOT to be one of the most inspiring and peaceful postings I've
ever seen here in the AW ngs. I am familiar with the Desiderata for many
years, and have tried to live its message of hope and peace. It is
understood in many languages throughout the world and is widely admired. I
pray that one day everyone comes to know its meaning and tries to live in
it's simplicity. In today's madness, with all our violence and hatred toward
one another, with all our trivial bickering, this inspiring message brings a
calmness and a smile whenever I read it. I hope it has the same effect on

For years my brothers and I have played by using two gameboards together and

your chances of sending someone back to start. Takes us days sometimes to
actually complete a game. As for the twenty players at one time.... one
board only has 4 starting places, 4 "Homes" and 4 pieces each. Are you
envisioning using 5 boards together? Or 5 seperate games going on at the
same time???

a blonde joke from my 11 year old (also a blonde) ;-"/ : 3 women are
stranded on an island 50 meters from shore. One had brown hair, one was
brunette and one was a blonde. The brown haired woman swam 5 meters and
drowned. The brunette swam 10 meters and drowned. The blonde swam 49.5
meters, decided it was too far, and swam back. ;-"D
