Hi everyone:

Well....It took awhile, but I HAVE DONE IT. Introducing THE FIRST KNOWN
**PERMANENT** MULTIMEDIA-ENHANCED BUILD on AlphaWorld (if not the entire
ActiveWorlds Universe)..

It is my Drive-In Theater located at 4900N 235E.

There's a HUGE screen so you can see the movie.

Right now, I only have one video listed, but am working on more (my goal is
to have 3 videos which will be swapped out every few weeks or so like a real
theater). Just simply click the button (the button is on the far side of
the series of street objects attached to one of the poles).

Although the theater has been around since 2002, this is still a WIP as I
add buttons to the other poles and make some other changes (I want people to
still be able to hear the movie when they visit the snack bar if at all
possible). But FEEL FREE to have a look around, enjoy the flick and
whatnot. :-)

Of course, FEEDBACK WELCOME. :-)

Cheers for now :-)

Oh I see - why did AW choose sign objects though? Wouldn't it have been
more logical to choose picture ones? or was it for the "click here"
display - perhaps both then?

Hi everyone:

[View Quote] It shouldn't do that. It should play right on the screen. I used the SAME
EXACT command line structure that ChrisMPEG did for his build (except for
the URL and filename of course) and it plays right on the screen for me.

Once the movie is over, the screen then turns orange with tiny lettering
(dunno what it says) and then it switches to say MOVIE SCREEN (also in an
orange background).

BTW....WHO at AWI decided to use the ORANGE to signify a media viewer in the
first place? Looks awful.

As for the screen size, a TV object wouldn't work as its too small. However
I just might try a pictwllh.rwx with a create sign command added to the
command line and see what that does. If it works, I'll leave it. If not,
I'll go back to the current xsign2.rwx I'm now using. :-)

Cheers for now :-)

P.S.: I'm off the table now Lightwave (I wish AWI would make avatars that
can be in all kinds of positions such as LYING DOWN. This would signify
that the user is either in bed or is otherwise AFK. Just a thought :-))

cpl things orange is def but create sign bcolor=color works, and also its
not a tv obj :) hence the reason I said awteen, mtv2hs.rwx is a giant TV
with the sign command on it :) hence the m.

Just a question, but have you looked around? lol... There have been lots of
"**PERMANENT**" builds with media commands in the Active Worlds universe for
a few months now.

I see no reason why someone with information would want to remain unnamed
.... :P Or did you choose for him or her to remain unnamed?

actually 2nd-life sux it crashes all the time, objects are ghosted alot,
scripting is hard
you need to be a programmer or pay someone to do it for you, its all about
money in game
textures are blurry most of the time, i do like the avatar building but it
is limited,
and it cost you $10L just to upload a texture good or bad you cant test it
first.
there is no way to link to the web and you can only teleport to certian
places
and have to walk to your landmark usualy long distances.
i do like the rendering its got a game feel to it but it gets very laggy.
and then you have ppl shooting you when your trying to build and find your
self flying
2 sims away. then theres the follow objects that follow you around and you
cant get rid of them
unless you teleport away but they are still there when you get back.
but i go because i like the custom avatars and vehicals.

If you're going to quote anyone, it's always best to state your source. If
you can't state your source, then don't say anything at all, because nobody
will see you as being credible.

Hi everyone:

[View Quote] You know Ferrucio, you *really* setting a good example of doing this. You
post a reply like the one above, yet you don't even quote who it is you're
even talking to yourself.

Given this....You have no room to be complaining about not quoting someone.

Cheers for now everyone :-)

Oh, puhleese :P If you have the slightest idea about how to use newsgroups,
you'll know exactly who I was replying to. No need to quote anyone here in
that case. What C P was doing was a *completely* different thing, he was
quoting someone without stating his source. I was just directly replying to
legion's post.

Keep trying, PC Hamster, I know you can do it.

ferruccio

assuming you're using outlook express, you should be able to figure it out
by reading the post directly above the reply.

Well Fer im not going to state a source lest this person get in trouble for
leaking information, its all hearsay, but this person could get a major E N
Z O boot up their ass else.
