Information for immediate release

Press Release

Andras.net Inc, Reveals Inmature (G)UI usages.

Storage World, -- (NONBUSINESS WIRE) -- June 22, 2002 -- a leading worldwide provider of free and friendly building atmosphere for tourists and citizens.

NEWS FLASH: Software(?) QA(?) engineer(?) is looking for a job at McDonalds!

We discovered that a young (possibly immature) fellow using a moniker of Eep² - who is failed to deliver any useful Quality Assurance data from any of his previous jobs and now looking for a new assignment - is forced to take a hike from real life and now he hopes he can have a virtual job as a burger.rwx flipper.
Our sorces found that he failed the entry level qualification at Burger.RWX.King and now he tries Mc.RWX.Donalds. Burger.RWX.King officials told to our correspondent that the applicant flanked his initial training phase due to some unexpected (G)UI usage. He wasn't able to distinguish a fork from a knife and he claimed that the designers of those tools did not learn how to make a decent equipment to play games at the frying bin. Right now he is still on the street to find another job (the streetsweepers already dismissed his application - another source claims).

This error happens when the world database became corrupt on the server (talking from well established experience)

Actually the situation is much worse if you have more than one worlds hosted on the same server software. You's best bet is to shut the world down, propdump with the enumerate option (-s), delete the cell and sector files and reload it. Even after this nice excercise you can't be sure another corruption won't come. Sometimes just simply adding a new world or proploading a world can corrupt another (properly working) one.
I found that the only clean-cut solution is to totally wipe out the database, recreate the worlds, prop-,at- and elevload it one by one :( The biggest lost so far was one object in one world in my experiences.

I don't really know since I'm 5000 miles away from the server and nobody is near to the machine to fix it yet. The box usually reboots itself without any hickup if something happens but not in this case. I'll have someone over there in Monday.

produmps

Mar 4, 2003, 9:15am
[View Quote] Judging from the picture you refer to, it is either XelaGot broken or you got some HUGE world (8000+ coords at east).
Did you try a propdump from the admin utility? <you said the server is on your puter so you should have access to it>
Ops - I just see you did try it. It is one of the corruption I'm getting regularly on an NT box (never on a Linux one).

My recommendation is the following:
Stop the world server.
Windows:
Open a dos box and go to the server's folder.
Type: utils/propdump > propfile.txt
Linux:
go to the server's folder
type ./propdump > propfile.txt

If the propfile.txt contains garbage or the propdump fails, use the -s option for recovering:
propdump -s > propfile.txt

if you are happy with the dump (it contains both of your world!!), use the propload < propfile.txt command
This action will clean up the corruption.

If this did not resolve the problem:
Do the atdumps and elevdumps to have them backed up.
Delete the cell.* and sector.* files
try the propload < propfile.txt again.

I remember that because I had the reduce the polycount/vertices in it dramatically:)

6th Annual Easter Egg Hunt in Storage World!

Apr 1, 2003, 3:05pm
<spam>
This is our 6th Annual Easter Egg Hunt in Storage World. The hunt will run from 2PM VRT, Sunday, April 20th, 2003 until 2AM VRT, Tuesday, April 22nd, 2003. (Sorry folks - but I'll be in the air on Saturday night flying back from the US to Hungary). The hunt is open for tourists (please try to keep your login name!) and citizens too.
This event should be the greatest since AW exists!!
We have excellent prizes, a great world to hunt in, superior helpers, proven tools to conduct the hunt and not to mention the excellent hunters who already participate in our previous hunts!
EggHider is busy hiding the eggs and he is up to 100,000 (yes! One hundred thousand!) eggs at this moment and he still have some time left :)
Based on our previous experience - the world can support up to 200 visitors at once and the bot can handle the load too <I hope>.

Please visit us during the hunt and spread the word.

These questions about Australia were posted on an Australian Tourism Website - a Melbourne University Tourism Studies Major working in the summer holidays answered....

1. Q: Does it ever get windy in Australia? I have never seen it rain on TV, so how do the plants grow? (UK) A: We import all plants fully grown and then just sit around watching them die.

2. Q: Will I be able to see kangaroos in the street? (USA) A: Depends how much you've been drinking

3. Q: I want to walk from Perth to Sydney - can I follow the railroad tracks? (Sweden) A: Sure, it's only three thousand miles, take lots of water...

4. Q: Is it safe to run around in the bushes in Australia? (Sweden) A: So its true what they say about Swedes.

5. Q: It is imperative that I find the names and addresses of places to contact for a stuffed porpoise. (Italy) A: Let's not touch this one.

6. Q: Are there any ATMs (cash machines) in Australia? Can you send me a list of them in Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville and Hervey Bay? (UK) A: What, did your last slave die of?

7. Q: Can you give me some information about hippo racing in Australia?(USA) A: A-fri-ca is the big triangle shaped continent south of Europe. Aus-tra-lia is that big island in the middle of the pacific which does not... oh forget it. Sure, the hippo racing is every Tuesday night in Kings Cross. Come naked.

8. Q: Which direction is North in Australia? (USA) A: Face south and then turn 90 degrees. Contact us when you get here and we'll send the rest of the directions.

9. Q: Can I bring cutlery into Australia? (UK) A: Why? Just use your fingers like we do.

10.Q: Can you send me the Vienna Boys' Choir schedule? (USA) A: Aus-tri-a is that quaint little country bordering Ger-man-y, which is...oh forget it. Sure, the Vienna Boys Choir plays every Tuesday night in Kings Cross, straight after the hippo races. Come naked.

Because it is loaded to your IE's cache first when you visited the site then AW will get it from IE's cache.
