If you would rather not waste a bot to run a simple changing picture, the AW
command set would go something like this:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------
create name adpict, picture www.geocities.com/temp/advert1.jpg
create name pictrig1, animate me theblus 1 1 6000, astart; adone picture
www.geocities.com/temp/advert1.jpg name=adpict, astart pictrig2
create name pictrig2, animate me theblus 1 1 6000; adone picture
www.geocities.com/temp/advert1.jpg name=adpict, astart pictrig3
create name pictrig3, animate me theblus 1 1 6000; adone picture
www.geocities.com/temp/advert1.jpg name=adpict, astart pictrig4
create name pictrig4, animate me theblus 1 1 6000; adone picture
www.geocities.com/temp/advert1.jpg name=adpict, astart pictrig1
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------
If you want more ads in there then just add more objects to the sequence.
If you want the ad to change more frequently just increase the 6000 (6
seconds) to 60000 (1 minute) or whatever. I usually put the command sets in
some wavspk.rwx underground in an adjacent cell that has little in it.
Saves cell space that way.

jfk2 - AWComm have placed a restraining order on you to leave me alone.
Common sense would extend this to your making references about me or my
world or activities in the newsgroups. Please don't!
FYI - the ground objects I created for NY and Broadway have their subway
section sealed off so that you do not see the backdrop in the distance...
all you see is very dark grey.

Although there should be a link on AWComms web page to it, there is at AW GZ
a unique trash can with the following web address:
http://www.awcommunity.org/get
The GET (Garbage Elimination Team) will remove any porn within a few days.
By porn I mean showing nipples or pubic hair. Obviously its a team made up
of AW Cits and not AWComm staff (refer the web page). Also I know from past
experience dealing with the PKs that everything is recorded and logged and
must be sent to AWComm once the work is done. So as with all things it
would have to take a few days. No AW Cit has the power to close or suspend
another users account.
If you have a place you thing should be reviewed by the GET then submit your
form to them. My immediate reply to anyone saying they didn't get service
about deleting a porn site is... "did you submit your form to the right
place?"

I thought its the GETs job to handle deleting things in AW, including any
porn? I guessed the GET was overseen by the service dept of AWComm which is
Flagg? The GET have a direct reporting procedure by filling in a form on
their web page. Alternatively, if a user didn't find their page and
reported via the "abuse" email, then that would go to the PKs who would send
it on to the GET.
Of course thats all guess work based on years in AW, perhaps you can
clarify who does what at AWComm? Who at AWComm oversees the PKs and the
GET?

At Alpha World Ground Zero is a PK sign with a web link, and the PK page has
a web link to the GET.
Also at Alpha World Ground Zero is a trash can with the GETs web address
where there is a form to fill in to get trash removed.
At TheGate and Alpha World are PKs and GKs - most of whom know about the
existance of the GET.
I have used the form three times and in each case what I wanted removed was
removed. Two times it took under 2 days... and in the other it was a much
larger borderline case where the GET wanted to hear the opinion of the
original builder first, so that took a little longer.
So Marcus - if you want the porn removed fill in the form. Stop your
nonsense here, learn and move on.
Note also, that as much as you may complain that it should be an "instant
service", things just don't work that way. Things have to be recorded and
justified for future reference. The last thing we want is a GET member gone
wild on deleting things. And I'm sure Factor has more than enough to do
than doing the work of another team that are doing their job.

When I had trash removed by the GET they telegrammed me once they had done
it.
How come after so many people told you the correct procedure was to FILL IN
THE FORM ON THE GET WEB PAGE do you send an email to who-knows-who?
BTW - who did you send the email too? And to whom did you send the previous
two emails? And what dates did you send the earlier emails? I'm sure
Fletch or Tom would be glad to investigate what happened to these emails.

Since its inception over 2 months ago the "SAW" web page has a total of 5
postings, 4 of which are by Chucks Party.
Of the 4 postings by Chucks Party only 2 are complaints relating to the
"protection" of citizens. Those two complaints refer only to myself and
OneSummer. The other two postings are of the kind "we are here".
It is valid to note that his accusations against me are not anywhere near as
serious as those that could be brought against an AW citizen that I know is
directly associated with, and in constant contact with Chucks Party. This
other citizen not only made direct confessions to me about prior criminal
convictions and personal preferences but also stated that Chucks Party is
fully aware of them. I have no intention of saying who this other citizen
is as it is not anyone's business to know.
In all this time Chucks Party has not included this other citizen's name on
his "SAW" site. This obviously reveals that the purpose for that site is
not so much to do with AW Community protection, but rather is for the
persuit his personal attack against me and OneSummer.
Chuck has on occasion said he has "gotten over it", but the page still
exists and every so often he again brings up the matter here in the
newsgroups. I have no idea what he is telling people in his private
conversations, but no doubt it isn't favorable comments about me. I would
suggest he would do better to remove his page, forget about me and my
associates, and devote his energies to something more constructive.

I also run a check against reality for size, both by using actual meter
size, and then checking out what it looks like against a standard avatar.
Generally avatars are the right hieght... being 1.5 to 2 meters tall.
And yes - there are many objects in Alpha that are just the wrong size.
Starting with pd01.rwx, the door fit for a giant, to news1 that stands
higher than the average avatar, and all the stairs that would exhaust any
ordinary traveller with steps way to big.
Even my first build 3 years ago was built with the "pan" doors and proper

"create sound ...." loops wav files
you should also check out the AW help regarding the loop / noloop parameters
midi files will never loop regardless of what command you use (although

TechnoZues and I offered our further services free of charge to continue
creating new objects and improve old objects for Alpha World. This was
after we together created some 150 new objects for Alpha, which largely were
applauded by all (about the only negatives were about the cross section
panels which some folks did not understand). I think I sent Rick (ENZO)
about 4 emails, all of them unanswered before I gave up.
Since then both TZ and myself applied for paid jobs as modellers for AW. I
didn't hear a word and neither did TZ.
Is there a change of mind?
Facter, email me if AWC is serious about adding/improving objects in Alpha

hey Fletch - I wish you would reply to my support emails as quickly as you
reply to newsgoups postings.
We are getting constant errors "Building Inspector: Unable to store changes!
Check server for possible
full disk or write-protected file(s)." in 90% of cases when trying to build
and the only consistant part of the error is in always occurs in some places
and not in other places.
We've also discovered new files created on the Unix server "CTSTATUS.FCS
"and "cell.mir". CTSTATUS.FCS is growing bigger and bigger as new entries
are added into it... and the entry is related to the unsuccessful attempts
to build.

I have often wondered why "ignore list" to filter telegrams is not
considered to be the most highest in priority for upgrades. I put it into
the wishlist years ago, and more recently went to the effort of directly
emailing Roland, and then ENZO requesting this be done.
The fancy stuff, like options on whether the ignore is "load" or "silent",
and the other privacy issues like "away / DND flags" follow very close
behind the above.
If given a choice between skyboxes, or firewall support, or ignore list, I
sure know which I'd chose!

Public can nominate whoever. A select panel can chose the best 5 in each
category and then the public can vote from those. Much like academy awards.
It would be nice to limit the final votes to be from one's peers (world
owners vote for best world, object builders vote for best object, avatar
creators vote for best avatar) but that would take mega organisation and at
that level it would be a big ask of those volunteering their time. The up
side is it would sure as heck add prestige to the final winners.
Hmmm wouldn't it be nice to have an object makers guild, or world owners
society?

Both the Danny2K show and WVRN started out in Broadway world. Initially
Danny2K ran his show without any competition, but he then became ill. K.C
took over the live broadcasting with only limited success. Danny returned
to AW and Broadway about a month later.
I suggested the two of them merge, with Danny2K taking the lead. K.C had
ideas that Danny2K did not agree with, and so the two of them decided to
keep their radio shows seperate. Danny2K then moved is home base to NewYork
world, despite my suggestion that he would always retain my priority backing
in Broadway.
WVRN has only retained provisional support from Broadway World on a "we'll
wait and see" basis. There have since been far too many instances of
problems and personality conflicts between K.C and other people (including
Danny2K), and K.C certainly has not had our support in causing these
problems or conflicts. Neither Danny2K nor K.C have had any major dispute
with any of the Broadway World owners, although I have expressed my
disappointment to Danny2K that he did not continue in Broadway World, and
have not always agreed on his approach to some matters.
K.C has now advised that his AW account will soon expire and he will not be
renewing it. He has also said he will pursue other live broadcasting
opportunities outside of AW. I wish him well in that.
Danny2Ks radio show is great for anyone who has a cable or above line speed,
and I commend him for it. I wish him well and I am sure that now that the
cause of conflict is no longer present he will again run intermittant shows
out of Broadway World, just as he has done in the past.
As far as I am concerned there is no "vs". Both worlds are popular and
becoming moreso, and I think that's terrific.

They are right, kellee does live with me in Australia... but with over 800
kilometers between us I don't go over to ask for sugar when I run out.
And regarding JFK, he has made up so many ridiculous accusations and rumours
about me and a few of my friends that I have lost count. The sad part is
that I have to hear most of them with his multitude of telegrams he insists
on sending me each day. I am praying for the day that AW allows telegram
filtering. Count your blessings people that its not you on the receiving
end of his insanity.

Hi folks,
I've updated and did a bit of tidy up to my Alpha World object yard, which
seems to be getting quite popular.
It is geared for more experienced builders, and is tightly compacted to make
finding what you need all within visibilty of its center. Various hints and
tips are littered around the place.
Please feel free to telegram me if you think of anything that would be a
worthwhile improvement.

Many people wish to express their feelings and leave a message for a loved
one lost or make their feelings known. The memorial world is a response to
the feelings of the general people. This surely is what aw is about....
people talking about their feelings and talking with others. An area where
this can be viewed and where people can leave their mark at this time is
what is being constructed...Thank you.....

Its open. A world hosted by AWC
Come in, leave a small sign, or make a small or large build, or just chat
Regards, Justin
PS: thanks goes to OneSummer, The Observer, phalaphe, IHNK, HamFon and
Mountain Myst for their help and time

sheesh - why do I bother?
The ONLY builds EVER deleted in Broadway World by myself and OneSummer are
those built in either our own accounts or those built in the "BW Helper"
account, and almost always they are things we ourselves created, with an
occasional build by someone else in the BW Helper that we wanted to improve
upon.
Princess Esther is free to build or delete her builds in Broadway as she
likes, as is every other person.
OneSummer is an owner of Broadway and is staying that way. Broadway is a
public building world and will stay that way.

Hamfon brought in the bot copy whilst working with Midnight Madness - both
of AW Corp. It was there way before I knew about the existance of Memorial
World. Summer was asked by Midnight Madness for help to build (new) the GZ
area and guide people where they could build. I came later to help.
I have never bot copied anyone's build other than my own, with the only
exception being assisting to move AWUniv Contest first prize winning entries
to their new permanent location in AWUniv, at the request of and to assist
that world's caretaker. They can be found in AWUniv in the contest section
built under AWUniv account.

I had that "audio driver is already in use" or something very similar. I am
having trouble remembering how I fixed it but I will give you what I can.
Using explorer I clicked on "view" and selected "folder options". From
there I selected the "File Types" tab.
Next go down the menu to "audio cd", select it, and click edit. At this
point I go blank, but it has something to do with the "play" being bold, or
not, or which application it uses, or setting something as default, or
whatever. I *think* that I got some tips out of windows help on how it
should be. Try playing around with it.
Good Luck, Justin

I have a PII 300 64MB RAM, Video Card ATI Rage Fury Pro
For no apparent reason, system locks up and I have to hard reboot or only AW
will get a page fault. I tried a Dr Watson thing with the page fault and it
said no memory. If I restart AW after an AW crash the crashes continue with
regularity, even in other programs until I get the full system lockup.
Timing is more like I can be going several hours, then AW crashes, and
crashes on a restart within a few minutes, again and again, then system
lockup.
These problems began after testing the Open GL and Software rendering, both
of which preformed far worse that Direct 3D. I tested these out on the
second day. On the first day I did not have any crashes of any kind. Which
has made me think the tests brought on the errors.
No noticeable lag or frame rate change, things are generally brighter,
objects with no texture mapping ignore the texture totally, I haven't seen
any masking problems, and midis play same as always.

I uninstalled both my old 2.2 and the second copy 3.2, then did clean ups of
all internet content and temp files and a regclean. Then a scandisk and
defrag.
Downloaded a fresh 3.2, installed it, threw in my telegram, contacts, and
teleport back-ups.
Visited 4 worlds and did a fair bit of chat over several hours. Not one
error today - all runs smoothly again. (Hoping it stays that way).
