m a r c u s,

I understand your concern, but on the same token, I really think you
are reaching beyond reality here. You obviously did not read or
understand the disclaimer that Facter posted here. It simply states
that they (AWcom) are not liable for anything you might see or read that
you cannot tolerate. You as a user have agreed to this when you decided
to use the software, you are responsible for yourself and so is every
user that uses the medium. I also saw that there was nothing in that
disclaimer stating that they would respond to your email or that they
would act on your content.

Basically, if you don't like it, report it. You have done that. If
they decide they don't like it either, then so be it.

Quote in part:
"You hereby release AWCOM from any and all liability for all
claims related to Content as well as claims related to the security or
level
of privacy provided."

If this sounds like I am saying to you, "IMO, your just blowing a
lot of air to get attention and using this subject as a means to get
it.", I am. ;) As I said before, be responsible for yourself and allow
the rest of us to be responsible for ourselves.

Pssst: If AWcom willingly displays porn to you via the company, go get
em Tiger! ;)

I addressed this to you m a r c u s but I also wanted to share my
insight on this with the rest of the group. Some may agree, some may not
care and others are probably getting tired of this topic. I apologize
about the IMO line above if I am false with that thought. I still hold
strong to the rest of the content of this post.

Sincerely
Bits

i would like to know how you "reported" it, Marcus

Did you actually get off your high horse long enough to admit you now know
the correct procedure ( after everyone, painstakingly, and in words of one
syllable, explained it to you ) and consent to actually FOLLOW it?

By the way, there are links to the same information in AWSchool and any
teacher or teachers aide could have passed on said information.

I am testing the waters now, I was told to email, and so far 3 emails have
been sent.

We'll see. All I had to do with the server holding the porn was email once
and it was removed.

A lot of work here just to remove 2 pictures, but we'll see.

Will they respond or won't they?

I'm wondering, why are you on this anti-porn crusade? Sure it's an issue,
but there are many other issues to crusade on. Porn is hardly a issue in
aw. You're making it seem like there is some sort of out of control porn
epidemic, children can't walk past GZ without seeing some sort of brutal
rape scene, vast tracts of building space taken up by giant exposed tits.
Are you just bored and need some great crusade to embark on? Does this
crusade help you feel moraly superior to others? There is little or no porn
problems in aw, and even at its worst not enough to warrent such a
passionate responce from you.

Also, we all know about your crusade, what you believe in, and what you
want done about it. You've made that VERY clear. Now WHY do you continue
to argue and post on the NG for all to read? You've informed the community,
and now please leave us out of your crusade and deal with it in private. If
you keep on going on like you are, you're going to make me want to spread
porn through out AW.

Am I the only one here that's heard enough of this? It's moved past the
issue, and is now nothing than marcus trying to prove how moral he is and
how big his soap box is. I'm begining to think he cares less about the
"issue" and simply wants to shoot his mouth out and look like the
porn-savior of aw.

The porn issue has been delt with as far as it can on the NG's, PLEASE MOVE
ON.

1 email to the server holding the porn so they can remove it is hardly a
crusade.

When I had trash removed by the GET they telegrammed me once they had done
it.

How come after so many people told you the correct procedure was to FILL IN
THE FORM ON THE GET WEB PAGE do you send an email to who-knows-who?

BTW - who did you send the email too? And to whom did you send the previous
two emails? And what dates did you send the earlier emails? I'm sure
Fletch or Tom would be glad to investigate what happened to these emails.

Regards, Justin

Fletch claims to read email from at least one of these sources
abuse at activeworlds.com and support at activeworlds.com.

Unless you read form mail, you won't see me doing the reporting.

Just as i thought. Its an issue calculated to get attention as some one has
previously stated. Just like the little boy that ran around with his eyes
closed , yelling " I cant find it and its all some one elses fault!"

Several ppl have repeatedly given you the link and the url and the facts,
and regardless of whether you had the sense to go look in the right places
previously, you now KNOW where to go and you have as yet to email the
correct place or submit your request to the right ppl, but you continue
whipping the dead horse of your outraged, misplaced self rightousness.

*sigh*

If it were my fault, why did the server holding the porn remove it?

See, that's the thing. I think I've figured out what Marcus is trying to do here.
He's not concerned about porn at all. The only thing he seems to care about is
proving that AWLD will not do what he thinks they should be doing. He seems to think
that AWCom should be the ones cleaning up trash in AW. The only problem is he fails
to realize that it's not AWCom's responsibility to clean up porn. Granted, if they
were told of porn being spotted in AW, they'd want to do something about it. But the
act of removing said porn is NOT in their job description. That's what GET is for.
And even though he's been bombarded with messages telling him how to do things the
correct way, he refuses to take the advice and simply repeats what he's said all
along: "It's AW's fault, not mine!"

As I mentioned in a previous post, I'd swear Chuck was training him. The parallels
between this mess and the whole SAW fiasco are just disturbing...

"Granted, if they were told of porn being spotted in AW, they'd want to do
something about it."

Wanting to do something is wonderful, I want to rid aids, cancer, diabetes,
etc.. all the bad things. However, removing porn is something we can do.
Let's ALL work together on this instead of trying to shoot the peron who is
trying to help remove it.

He's only trying to shoot you because you haven't tried any other ways to
get rid of it. Sending e-mails to AWCom is not the only way. :)

LOL, yea, that's it. I never tried other means. Listen idiot, I emailed
the server that held the porn and they had it removed fairly instantly in
May.

I spent the month of April reporting it to Active Worlds before I went to
the server. Why? I didn't want the account closed that held the porn. I
just wanted those 2 pics to be removed. However, the server that held the
porn did close the account, not just remove the porn. So, there you have
it. I went out of Inactiveworld's system, and I got the job done.

Sorry but i have to disagree with you based on this.......

Please refrain from using Active Worlds for the following activities:

1. Displaying material containing nudity, pornography, or sexual material of
a lewd, lecherous or obscene nature and intent or that violate local, state
and national laws.

2. Providing material that is grossly offensive to the online community,
including blatant expressions of bigotry, prejudice, racism, hatred or
excessive profanity;

3. Promoting or providing instructional information about illegal
activities, promoting physical harm or injury against any group or
individual, or promoting any act of cruelty to animals; This includes, but
is not limited to, the following activities: Providing instructions on how
to assemble bombs, grenades and other weapons;

4. Covering excessive amounts of land in any of the AW.com public building
worlds, including AlphaWorld, Mars, Atlantis, Yellow, or COFMeta, by any
means including bots, keyboard macros, or even manual building. Please limit
land claiming to land which you can directly use to build on yourself.
"Excessive" land claiming is defined as any area greater than 1 square
kilometer, or 100 cells by 100 cells.

We reserve the right to suspend or remove any world, objects or properties
from the Active Worlds universe which is brought to our attention and which
we find, in our sole discretion, violates any of these content guidelines or
otherwise is in violation of the law.

AWCI does not actively monitor the content of the worlds in Active Worlds,
but we will investigate complaints of violation of these guidelines.

This is what we signed up for and it quite clearly states that AWCI will
investigate and remove any such things. I don't see anything there about
GET. This goes for all other posts on this thread refering to the same
thing.

SAW is still alive and well but won't be given out in this NG again to a
bunch of immature idiots who are going to make a long thread to flame and
attack me with, it's there for those that need it now, concerned Citizens as

missed something. Anyways, if you've already taken care of the problem,
what in the hell are you doing still e-mailing AWcom and bothering this NG
for? huh!? >:(

Well... I can also vouch for Chucks Party there...
I've seen SAW & it is 100% still there
and right now [last time i looked that is] it contained a few names...
2 of those names and their respective CIT #'s sometimes post here &
the other one i don't think has ever posted in the ngs yet.

AWCom remove porn? I'd rather see them do something more productive. If I
don't wanna see porn I teleport elsewhere, problem solved (least for me, I
covered my land ^_^ ). I can avoid porn but I can't avoid something like
buggy software.

Either the person has clothes on or they don't, that is not a hard one to
spot. They even made a term for it "birthday suit", when you don't have any
clothes on.
