how can you be such a "putz" if I may say so? you know you allways rant
about this feature... lets take the text I'm reffering to, item 6 in the
General section of The Really Holy List (actually, your improvement
list...):
"plug-in support: So third-party programmers can add things to AW that
AWCI's 2 programmers can't. The SDK (software developers kit) is a beginning
to this process, but only really applies to bots which aren't integrated
into AW itself like they should be."
this is what was meant as the wish off this thread, not talking about "Lauch
the ActiveWorlds plugin now" crap on the new AWC website... anyway, you were
a putz not to see that the original thread/replies were posted way before
the new website was released...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what *IS*
wrong with you lately??? WE'RE NOT TALKING ABOUT WEBPAGE PLUGINS!!! (at
first I thought they meant an SDK or something, but they didn't, so now it's
you that's talking about web plugins) we're talking about plugins you could
use with the **AW** browser, similar to bots, just integrated into the
browser, like you allways go on about! what part of that is it that you

Eep is right, the texture mapping of the ground object has nothing to do
with cells... but there is a simple, quick way to visualize a cell, simply
press CTRL while selecting an object and all objects in the same cell will
be selected.

suggestion #1 allready does exist... will redownload avatars.zip if the
filesize has changed (seems to work on a kilobyte basis, usually one avatar
isn't enough to make the size increase by a kilobyte or more). and sorry for
this tiny complaint, but there are no players in AW, just avatars ;-))
sorry, very good suggestion (it's implemented in the Xelagot bot, so it

it's NOT a game! let's take an example, the programming language C++. You
can develop games in C++, but you can also develop anything else (lets use
word processors as an example). With your point of view C++ is a game
development tool, which it is not. Or a word processor development tool,
which it is not. It's a development tool for any kind of solution, not only
one like you look at it. Same with AW, it's a design tool. You can design
games with it or you can design buildings.

OK thing, but I wouldn't say it's worth cluttering the GUI that looks pretty
OK now with some button when you can do a copy'n'paste nearly just as
easily. And I do agree with Cozmo, you're the one that has to choose really,
it's not all too much of the contact's business if you have him on your list
or not. Sentacks, we are entitled to think that it isn't such a great idea,
and Lanezeri is entitled to disagree. Just look at his reply to Cozmo,
accepting that we have another opinion.

he syas switching rendering engine would take a year at least, don't think
he'll spend a year or twoporting it to linux... the possibility would be a
way of porting the SDK to Unix and create a sort of pseudo-AW...

hmmmm... a 3D programmer I know does a great job of writing a multi-format
world builder (not for AW, more for games) has this idea of adding a feature
that would allow youtobuild the world you made in the efitor in AW,or
convert it toa propdump... his stuff is ten times better than AW's building
interface, and has more advanced possibilities...

the way I understood it it he wanted to let it allow the "owner" of the log
edit it... you'd be able to fake such a log nearly as easily as the current
unencrypted log... if ppl can't resist editing their logs that's just silly,
logs are meant to log stuff just for reference, when for example phone
companies are asked to present their logs as evience during trials they
sometimes even say themselfes that the log isn't failsafe...

only folks with file-acces on your computer (or that would use a trojan or
something) would be able to change your chatlog... the problem is rather
that for example if a PK asks for a log you could edit the log as you make a
copy of the specific event's chat, the most secure thing is a world chat log
(in worlds owned by neutral ppl, but the PKs only operate in AWC worlds
anyway)

some ppl have requested a PHP SDK, but that's not really necesary. I have
written an example of how you can make PHP interact with the SDK, in this
case a webform where the user puts in a chat string that a bot will say. you
can download it from http://home.no.net/kahbot/phps.zip. it consits of tree
files, the PHP script where the user submits a chat string and a VB project
(2 files) which contains the bot which the PHP script shells. I have only
tested this on Apache 1.3.22 with PHP 4.0.6.
Requirements:
Win32 webserver with PHP4 installed, PHP Safe Mode OFF. Disk access. VB
with AwSdkOcx4 registered.
Instructions:
Open PHPSayer.vbp in VB, change the cit# and PPW (and location settings if
you want to) then compile it as PHPSayer.exe
Open phpsayer.php in a text-editor and set the BotPath variable to the path
of PHPSayer.exe. example: if PHPSayer.exe is located in C:\AW\Bots\ then put
"C:\\AW\\Bots\\". Put the script in your webserver's document area
Ok, now you've set everything up, just remains to see if it works :-)) Open
the script in a webbrowser, go to the location where the bot is set to
appear, specify your nick and the desired chat string, click the "Say"
button and wait for the bot to appear :-))
KAH
PS. if anybody would like to translate the bot to C++ or Delphi, I'd
appreciate it a lot :-))
Nov 27, 2001, 4:54pm
good idea, I tryed adventuring myself into the world of C++ SDK programming
this weekend, but with the (free) Mingw compiler all I got was a "Illegal
operation" error when the program tryed to execute SDK commands. and that
was the SDK sample...

that's real cheap, but I guess it's only fair for just a 56k connection
(you're lucky, heard some horror tales of evil ISPs charging a fortune for
56k connections). from tommorow off, I will be running on a high-speed DSL
flatrate connection at the price of 750NOK (83.80USD) a month :-)) right now
I'm on an ISDN line, which goes by-the-min, which means horribly high
costs...

yes, and in 3.2 you'll be able to do it without the rotate command...
