any of you play any games created by www.blizzard.com ?
For those of you that do and also play the games over the battle net and
have chatted their also.
Wouldn't it be cool if the next AW update had all them chat commands?
Ex. if you go AFK, in the chat area you type /away
then you will be marked as being away, you can also input a little message
like.
/away im eating
then anyone that whispers to you they will see that saying your away and the
message you put.
to be marked as back, just type /away in the chat line again.

I think all chat programs should make use of this.

also could have little icons that show up next to your name in the contacts
list that also show if your away, idle, afk, etc.. for people to see, if
there in a nother world or not in your range. that way if someone sends a
telegram and your away, they wont think your being mean or rude not
answering it.

AW isn't all about chat... if you want fancy chat-icons go get ICQ or
something... AW has the best, 3D avatars, what do you need some ugly icons
for when you have that? ;-))

that's not the reason, the reason would be good for people that cant see you
or see you chatting.
they send a telegram wile your afk, and you don't answer right away some
take that as you being mean or rude.
heck they already got a green check mark letting all know we are online :-)
wile in afk or brb mode that green check mark could change to a little afk
or brb icon.

Well considering it's not a game.. some people just log off if they're going
away for an extended time. But if someone thinks it's rude that someone
doesn't respond to a telegram right off, that's their problem.. not everyone
has the time to spend responding to people every second ;). People should
be aware of that. But it would be a nice feature to have.. the AFK icon :).

There's some people who would take his name while he was afk knowing some of
the wackos in AW. Just to get him mad.

bowen is right, there are many people in AW that just like to take your name
any chance they get not only that but the newbies that come in and pick a
name for themselves, This happened to me in the past and I will not do it
again.
because once you change your name in anyway you no longer hold any rights to
that name if someone where to take it wile your changed and there is nothing
AW can do if your name was taken when you did that.

AW's browser is both a chat program and 3D environment, I think its a great
idea its just a little icon (do not disturb, AFK, or offline when your
really online) and its an added feature to the browser, all other chatty
programs have it as a option to select. Maybe add the icon selections to
your name under the contacts tab. = )

Yeah...plus they're only like >1k pictures, like 50x50...so it doesn't add
too many crucial KB of downloading for those of you with ISPs that charge by
the MB.

Some of the companies in Europe charge by the MB. It's not a problem here
in the US unless you have a commercial OC line in which case it's by the
gigabyte I think.

Charging by the minute is even worse than by the MB, and all phone companies in France do that (that means you pay by the minute for
connecting to the net, as well as for calling your neighbour on the phone)

I am in the USA and I only pay 10 dollars per month for my internet and I
can use as much as I want, download all I want, go on line any time of the
day or night, I got no limitations.
infinent downloading no mater what the size, its still 10 dollars a month
and I don't get disconnected allot ether. Ever sence I started with this ISP
my connections have been great +24 hours without any disconnects :-)
Its only a 56K connection though which sux, cable and dsl are still not in
my area yet lol
And my phone bill is not effected by the internet.

30 bucks a month and I have unlimted download and bandwidth, have downloaded
up to 2mbps before, only restriction I have is the uploading is set at
100kbps due to the fact they frown on ftp servers. So needless to say I'm
happy with my cable, granted we may not have good food, but we can always
order take out :)

that's real cheap, but I guess it's only fair for just a 56k connection
(you're lucky, heard some horror tales of evil ISPs charging a fortune for
56k connections). from tommorow off, I will be running on a high-speed DSL
flatrate connection at the price of 750NOK (83.80USD) a month :-)) right now
I'm on an ISDN line, which goes by-the-min, which means horribly high
costs...

Yeah I use cable too...its a little more erratic but they're the only one up
where I live. No DSL yet either (which we may switch to if it comes out...or
maybe T1 if we come across a lot of money ^_^). Normally I can get a good
300kbps to 800kbps downloading, and its a flat rate too. Plus email accounts
are apparently free and unlimited.

In France I had a cool cable connection... 64kbps (8kBbps), 1 GB down per month, for 80$ a month... cool eh?
lol
