AW Objects - database?

Apr 6, 2001, 4:46pm
I do not understand why AW would need months to accomplish this data text file.
It is a simple task in DOS of just writing a txt file from the appropriate
folder the objects, textures, etc., are stored in. The txt file then can be
offered. Takes approximately 5 minutes to make all the lists for a HUGE path. I
realize AW may have a full plate but I find not putting off, getting done,
tying loose ends quickly... keeps all happy and makes for a better tomorrow.
Just a thought... The customer may give up within those few long months...

AW Objects - database?

Apr 6, 2001, 5:11pm
As you may have read in MY post, the work is done in DOS from the folders... Now...
how do you expect me to access AW's main folders? I can't... Plus, I am not under
pay fro AWCOM... I was just putting out how it could be done quickly... as to
dimensions of jpg files... that would be a useless piece of info unless I am missing
something... the rest as far as filename, date, etc as seen in a dir of dos is all
that is relative. Was offering suggestions and solutions of how to avoid the back
burner paradigms of average small businesses. Wishing all peace and health *S*

Gor- what's this all about? :)

Jul 14, 2000, 9:53am
It would be best if you didn't write an article on GOR at all. A better article
to write would be one about leaving privately owned worlds alone to be as the
person who paid for them wanted them to be. People who have problems with worlds
would be best to just avoid what they do not like. Censorship and bashing is not
a good thing at all.

AWCOm just advertised a D+D world in their most recent newsletter. It would
amount to nothing less than discrimination to promote one role playing world
while bashing or banning others.

I am not a GOR person myself but I do care very much about people's right to
expression and choice. AW has accepted money for a long time from the GOR world
owners. These worlds have had hundreds and thousands of hours of hard work put
into them. It is a shame that people are so bored that they have to waste the
time to criticize and bash other people.

If you really wanted to do an article, why not do one on how Yahoo and AOL found
in court why they would be best off leaving newsgroups and chats alone. The
courts ruled that if they monitored and refused certain things, then they in
fact, took full responsibility and liability for what they did allow. That is
one huge liability for a public corporation to take. AW stock has been falling
rapidly and will soon be in very serious trouble, it needs help, not hindrance.

Formal Accutrans Statement

Oct 28, 2000, 5:56pm
Hello All,

I have just read through all the posts regarding the new lower price of
Accutrans. I feel I need to set the record straight and clear up all the
false information posted by Casay which has caused confusion to many out
there.

1. Heartfall Productions DID NOT cause the price of Accutrans to go to
$60.00 Anyone out there who has known Accutrans knows that the price
was $60.00 well before Heartfall became the licensed U.S. Distributor.

2. Our belief is this, Wayne lowered the price to $20.00 because of all
the incorrect feedback and pain in the butt whining he was receiving
from an out of control, I want to be noticed, type of girl.

3. Heartfall is no longer distributing Accutrans because:
A. after 90 days of marketing and downloads averaging more than 12 a
day, Wayne suddenly changed without notice to us on a whim from Casay.
Heartfall cannot distribute any software that does not maintain stable
marketing practices.
B. Wayne's decision gave us no choice other than to halt distribution.
C. We did not halt distribution because of any other reasons.

We realize the huge mess that this brings to the users of Accutrans. Our
clients have come to us from all over the world. Most of the users are
not involved in AW at all. I do not know that they will ever be aware
of rebates etc. now. Sadly, we cannot afford to attach our name any
longer, and therefore about 300 links, banners, ads and posts will go
dead now. The site averaged about 40 unique visitors a day, we feel very
bad for those people who will now hit a dead end but there is nothing
more we can do about it.

By far, we have always felt that Accutrans is the best conversion
program out there. Wayne did a remarkable job on it. We feel very sad
that Wayne was not buffered from the whining B.S. and instead praised
for his creations.

I am sure the end user's are happy with a $20 price now. I only hope
that Wayne continues and does not shut down entirely as we here know
that the lower price will not stop the whining. Accutrans was worth
well more than $60. and the people who have purchased it know that fact.
We never received one complaint from all the downloaded trials and
users.

We feel that this information is important for you to be aware of. We do
not like seeing false statements imbedded forever in the newsgroups
about our Company. Heartfall Productions is a company which has been
around since 1993, has worked very hard to maintain an impeccable
reputation and has given back to the community in every form it can. We
pride ourselves in that company tradition and take offense when people
do not properly educate themselves, interfere with business that they
are not a part of and state false facts as a result.

We would appreciate if Casay would please keep her comments and stories
to herself. We have never had any relationship with Darla other than an
occasional chat in AW. Darla was not ever a part of Heartfall using
Accutrans, nor being a distributor of Accutrans, or a part of our
company in any way.

There will always be those out there who cry for attention and in that
process bring down the good that was once around them.

People should be fully aware of these facts... the only people who can
ever correctly state facts about software are the manufacturing
companies themselves or their licensed distributors. Those two entities
have both the education to properly speak, and the investments to
protect their interests and properly inform, therefore providing the end
user with the TRUTHS.

We do not have much time to enter newsgroups, therefore if you would
like us to review comments about this matter, please e-mail us directly
at the old e-mail addy for this software, acccutrans at heartfall.com I
will respond in person per your requests.

best regards to all...

don't forget Heartfall Productions still endorses Accutrans as being
the best conversion tool out there for it's price! and any other prices
for that matter!

Can't help with Outlook but I do agree with you concerning the crEepS. Sad these
newsgroups degenerate to chat rooms. Simple monitoring to break flame brigades
and chat sessions would not be hurting anyone's rights... they always have the
right to enter a chat and crEep.

Builderz this is going OTT

Apr 6, 2001, 5:01pm
Builderz is RIGHT to contact the server if his work has been used without
authorization PERIOD! All hosts will immediately halt a site while
investigating infringement. There is an Internet copyright act out there to
protect hard working people from those who have not yet learned that the sites
and web designs on the net ARE NOT FREE to copy! Go to FREE Sites for Free
stuff and not private pages. The copyright mark DOES NOT need to be on a page
to mean that it is protected. CONSIDER ALL WORK COPYRIGHTED because it is by
LAW. ONLY FREE sites offer FREE pages and graphics. Life is better fro all
when laws are followed that protect us all. One day you may work hard and then
want that work protected!

It is sad to see what this newsgroup has been allowed to turn into. I
will say first off that I stand behind freedom of speech, however I see
all the causes needed for justification to have this newsgroup
moderated. It was the right thing to do in killing off the previous
thread of chuck's degradation party. I have sadly seen a man accused by
chuck's party without any legal evidence, slandered, by defamation
bleeding trash.

I am personally very involved and caring for children. I head a
foundation concerning children and their protection. What chuck's party
has done is hurt children by spreading trash that gets out of hand!

Here is help to children in this matter:

NOTICE

Children and any adult out there who are aware of a crime or have been a
victim of crime... Report it immediately to your law enforcement
officials. If you have been harmed or harassed over the internet and it
involves the anyone in the U.S, report it to the F.B.I. If you have been
or know of a child who has, or is, being abused, contact your local
child protective services for your area. It is your duty!

Now that is the proper thing to know and to do!

Do not use the internet to destroy the foundation of the U.S.
Constitution and the Laws of the U.S.

Do not allow the internet to be a trash bin of unfounded attacks of
vengeance.

If you have honestly been harmed, go to the proper law authority and
allow justice to prevail!

It should be clear by all who have seen the threads started by Chuck's
Party that his sole intentions were set forth to harm people never to
protect them. I say this because he has forgotten one key point, all
should be considered innocent until proven guilty by a COURT OF LAW!
There is a reason for that son, a very good reason! A law abider you
are not... you have broken many laws, torts, and usage agreements by
your biased slandering posts and web pages.

All Children and Adults deserve protection under the Law!
Allow the Law and Child Abuse Professionals do their job. Don't try to
do it yourself!

To Chuck's Party, If you yourself have been abused sexually, I
sincerely hope that you contact the proper officials and begin a road to
recovery. Anyone abused either physically, emotionally, sexually, or
otherwise deserve help and protection and any offender of such act
should be handled by our justice system and punished. If you need help,
please seek it. If you need counseling in the matter your local social
services dept. or clergy are good sources to inquire upon.

Peace and health

Hello AWCI,

It appears that your company may not quite grasp the many reasons that
your stock continues to fall. Perhaps you missed a VERY important
ingredient. Your program lists this news group within it's help files.
Did you not realize that people look in here and see how you allow
abuse from abusers (aw-users) to defame people and deliberately waste
this post? Your own acceptable use policies get laughed at when you
allow parties such as Chuck's Party and jfk2 to do what they have done
within these newsgroups and the worlds. Your immigration officer warns
that you should not accept files, etc. It appears that you allow such
abuses rather than maintain your own set of conduct rules. That tells
people in the Real World that your company does not live up to it's own
words. It does not respect the money paid by honest users to protect
them from the abusive scum which wastes this forum daily. Why not take
some pride in your company? Why not wipe out the abuse and block the
IP's and kill the citizen registrations of these two abusers? Are the
100's of abusive and slanderous messages in these newsgroups not enough
evidence for your company? It makes one seriously wonder what is of
importance to AW.com, Inc. Taking money? Playing and building? Is it
not important to keep it clean for good users and their children? I
sincerely hope that you decide to reply officially to this post within
the community news group and that you show the users that you stop
abuses from people like Chuck's Party and jfk2 by canceling their
citizen registrations and by killing off ANY thread which they have
written! That would be a start to a better community. It has sadly
become a large waste of time to even explore the community news group
due to these abuses. Just think what mom thinks the first time she
explores it with her children.

Wishing you all the best and the courage to do the right thing.

crashing problems

May 28, 2001, 4:08pm
Two of the reasons crashes happens are do to graphics accelerators and also
IRQ settings. With 3.1 , if you have an onboard graphics chip, you may end up
sharing space of your HD for graphics... this can cause havoc if you are using
other programs while using AW. You may also have a problem with the IRQ being
shared with sound etc... causing crashes when sound starts. It all depends on
your motherboard, pc, and ability to set it all up properly. There are also
corrupted cache issues possible as well as settings being too low or available
HD space etc. Many variables as you can see. BUT I would look for IRQ
conflicts... may not read as a conflict but if sound and graphics share same
IRQ, I would promise you that you will crash, and crash often...
Hope this helps you...

worlds, Noelle suggests e-mailing her the credit card information! NO
ONE should ever request that you send them credit card information via
E-Mail! It is rule #1 in common sense! SSL=security encryption E-mail
is one of the most open way there is to gather information.

I then asked for an 800 number since I did not feel one should have to
pay to phone and give them money. Noelle then proceeded to reply with
what is as close to what could be labeled corporate sociopathic nature .
Excuses rather than apology. Excuse rather than time table of when AW
may have a working secure page for these renewals, hell, they give
worlds away each week. Don't they realize those need renewals? But AW
again is too cheap to join the millions of companies out there who
provide their customers with toll free phone contact. There are so many
companies out there who offer their 800 number for tech support. AW
however makes you pay to phone! She also failed to mention anything
regarding the two citizenship's I would have coming to me as well.
Typical of AW to ignore the majority of the question I am beginning to
see.

Here are the words from AW corporate headquarters:

Subject: World renewl probs

Hello,

I went to renew the world that I won at Bingo but the
site said "contact AW, unable to determine free cits"
The world is a P-20 which I guess owes me 2 free cits
when I pay you the $40 to renew it since I never got
them when I first won the world. How do I get to
renew it if your site won't allow me? The world name
is "-------". I don't feel I should have to phone and
pay the long distance charges and I didn't see an 800
number available.

Looking forward to your reply.

AW's first reply:

From: "Noelle" <noelle at activeworlds.com>

$40 for renewal. Please send your credit card information and I will
process your order form here as there is not a primary renewal page for
contest winners.

Hello Noelle,

Thank you for responding but surely you cannot be
serious and ask me to send you credit card information
over an un-secure e-mail! It is not right for me to
have to pay long distance either. AWCOM needs to
address these serious issues, it is business.

Hello -

As with many other businesses, Activeworlds does not hold a toll free
number
as we offer other methods of ordering and customer resolution. Among
these
are the mail, e-mail, and online purchasing. Other customers have safely

sent their card information for their purchases. Should you choose to do
so
you may reply to this mail (or start a new mail). If not you may send a
personal US check or international money order to the address below.

Sincerely,

I have always considered that security concerns with AW have been ZERO
on their priority list. Here is actual proof with the Corporate SEAL so
to speak.

Let's wake up people! Or does AW wish to use this tactic because it
knows many users are children? Children perhaps may not know better? I
know myself and another who have had problems of AW overcharging credit
cards and not refunding or providing services paid for. Anyone else out
there with same problem???

Aw stealing from you with trickery?

Jun 30, 2001, 1:44am
Hi,

Ever notice that AW has programed their browser to remind you renewal of
citizenship or world is due soon? Noticed the renewal button pop up on
your browser in the final 30 days? Well did you realize how much AW may
be making off people in ways that could possibly be be termed by some as
dishonest? Deceptive trade perhaps? Let me explain:

Worlds come with free citizenship's in most cases. When the world is
renewed, so are the citizenship's. So what happens when you give one of
those citizenship's away for free to friend? They see the renewal key
and pay. You renew the world and cit gets renewed. Does AW refund the
money charged for the cit that they collected? NO! Do they extend the
life of that cit to make up for it? NO! Do they warn or tell you in any
way? NO! Do they keep track of worlds and their free cit 3's? YES Keep
in mind, as world owner, you too may have renewed the cit first since
you were unaware.

So they know, and they have probably seen profit from this technique in
their time. Definitely not a boy scout honor system in the works there
*S* Business is business, some are more honest than others. Hope
this has opened a few eyes and warned a few before they waste their
money.

To all who hate AW

Jun 30, 2001, 9:14pm
Ever think your gripes here do a lot more than just get ignored by JP and Rick? Post them on a web site as well, maybe Yahoo message boards. That all helps
get the word out and the facts about AW's heads ignoring facts. Then the stock will plummet some more. At some point the stock holders may then demand new
Directors who do give a shi^$&^$. That is if anyone really owns the stock other than the directors and the original investor who gave them the $$ to start the
IPO. AW has been in a death slump because of the directors. No big boys out there care for the stock because the plan of the current directors is to charge
the small users. That turns into a failed plan on a free www. Investors realize that never will there be millions who pay $20 to use. Had yahoo charged to
search, they would have remained as small as AW is. Allow free use, get hit counts soaring, then sell ad space and become a real network... then just like
NBC, CNN, etc., etc., The real networks will buy it up for the exposure it has raised... happened for the now msnbc , yahoo, etc., etc. Go for greed, fail
in slop... Smart investors look at the directors and their visions... in this case... lack of visions other that grandeur... Just an opinion... we all
have them... some may be clearer than others *S*

Object Path - New services

Aug 2, 2001, 12:20am
http://pathservices.heartfall.com is now offering it's huge object path
with a new feature so that your world can have it's own avatars list. We
are doing this without scripts so you will not have any glitches or
failures. This is great for theme worlds as well as GOR worlds who would
like their own personal set of avatars while using the WCOL path. Click
the 'new' button on the site to learn more. The path is also available
through http://worldhosting.heartfall.com for a few dollars more with
your world hosting services.

Peace & Health to all...

Object Path - New services

Aug 2, 2001, 6:29pm
We hardly do that Marcus. Most of our customers have been around AW for some
time. We welcome new owners and offer them many hours of help and support. The
services that we offer provide users with ultra high speed paths and world
servers as well as an enormous path of objects. Users also save the many hours
setting up their own path. Our customers are very happy, it is a shame to see
you, a non user, so un-happy. We have been around for years offering reliable
friendly services. http://pathservices and http://worldhosting.heartfall.com
two places for friendly service you can count on... new or old *S* Peace to
all ...

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with AW, I myself have had that same
problem and have heard it from others as well. Keep in mind though...
http://worldhosting.heartfall.com and http://pathservices.heartfall.com are not
AW. We are a private company which is very charity minded and involved. We do
help our customers and they enjoy our services. We have very happy clients. Your
post acted out against us and we have never supplied you with services ever.
Please be sure to describe who your attacks are at and please do not hit us for
being kind *S* Peace to all...

OFF TOPIC ATN. facter fire wall testing

Aug 3, 2001, 1:06am
Let me get this straight... You posted an add for beta testers inside of a
community which is used by registered citizens but you wanted people who could
not access AW ? Interesting... perhaps I should try fishing in the desert
sand... I might have as much success as you have had *S* Let me pass a
friendly suggestion your way... if you want people who 'cannot' access AW, then
find your source at support at activeworlds since that would be where people mailed
to complain they can not access your program... and... when the stock holders
cry out for some real organization and wish to appoint a CEO who has some
business insight and experience... fell free to phone *S* I doubt you will find
many unable to access aw people in an aw citizen only access news group.

Thanks for the chuckle time... peace & health...

PS - no ill thoughts to you factor... you were not appointed the leader... just
one of the ones following the blind...

It's Poll Time

Aug 7, 2001, 8:17am
You can have my 2 cents :) I suggest a panel of judges comprised of modelers,
builders, veterans and new users. The nominations for awards are made by
citizens. The judging follows the Olympic style counts and certain categories
have certain specific judging criteria's which you get points for like low poly,
texture on it, uniqueness etc... Those get a 1-10 and then those tallies are the
item or person's score from that judge. The total of the ten judge's will be the
sum to determine the winner. The judges can then view the work independently and
cast their final vote over a secure form that will post to the net so all can
see and view for honesty. Easy formail cgi to do. Judges could view in their
leisure and not all one day. THe judges should also be nominated as well as
qualified for their sector, (modeler, builder, new, etc) and their should be a
quick vote one week to settle who the judges are. Then CY's could be quicker and
not summer long as you can host three awards evenings and you appear at the one
that fits your schedule one of those nights via rsvp. In this matter of doing
things a judge would not need to be kept from entry in the contest as the votes
would be seen by all as they hold up their cards via the net.

And in closing... Having a bot MC with a pre scripted show would be nice... and
mute for all audience members... place a bot in there that the crowd can click
to send off lights or sounds... that will free up the chat for the people on the
mic... no where in awards does the peanut gallery speak and hoot... unless it's
the stripper awards perhaps :) Bot's could be typo less as well :) I nominate
hamfon to build the two custom bots :) and while he's at it I need a bot which
will activate via an av's seq commands :) TY *S*

And of course as always... bribes will still be accepted *S*
Peace and health to all *S*

so the thread stops being ruined because someone unaware posted pics. This
