France would veto any resolution to enforce bankruptcy while the USA would be using
it's military might to forcibly remove the executives in charge of the plundering
company. Germany would publically side with France, while in secret, giving help to
the US.
Meanwhile, in VR, E N Z O and Cryonics preach'ith the Snowcrash where you must smote

You've been spending WAY too much time online in AW, and not enough time
listening to world events, if you don't understand the UN references.

It might help if we knew who you heard this from and when, but then, we
don't work for AWI, so I doubt you'll find a straight answer here anyways.

I'm actually trying to decide what would be best to do - if AW is in this
situation. ENZO could either admit it or deny it. If he denhied it - then
its his word that we would believe, and things would continue the way they
are going.
However if he admitted it - one of two things could happen. We could either
all lose confidence in AW and leave, or feel sorry for the 'place we love'
and try to help in any way possible. PayPal donations, encouraging people
to buy citizens.
So, I'm torn between whether or not it would be a good idea for ENZO to
admit it or not, assuming its true of course.

I think that by the time a corporate entity has to accept donations in order to survive, it's time for some serious reorganization to go into effect :P
Encouraging people to buy citizenships, however, is always a good idea.

Well.... if this question was serious, which I doubt.
AWI is doing fine. There is absolutely no truth in whatever rumor The Lady
heard. AWI is no longer responsible for publishing its finances as a public
company. This does not mean we do not have revenue.
Also, please do not confuse any reports you see about Activeworlds Corp
(OTCB AWLD) This symbol no longer represents AWI.
OK?

ENZO...
It seems a forever unanswered question... "What is AWI's pricing policy?"
Are there any plans to reduce or (god forbid) increase prices for citizens
or worlds?
What is your opinion about the often raised theory that if you reduce the
price for cits then you would get more subscribers?
What is AWI's vision to increase the number of subscribers?
Regards, Justin

To sum things up where ENZO may not:
If the AWI listing no longer represents the holdings of the AW company then
this means that they were probably delisted for poor earnings.
If this is the case - it means quite simply that AW is in a financial
decline and in no position to tell you otherwise, unless they are trying to
conceal their earnings, which they now have the right to do by being
delisted and not responsible for reporting their earnings to the public.
This would fair quite well with the price hike as a means to recouperate
costs and operations.
So truthfully, if AW were to have only a year or so to get back to making a
profit then this would be the perfect time for it to happen.
On the other hand, AW is most likely playing "catch up" with newer start ups
like Plastic Planet and Cyboria who have recently sailed past the AW browser
in technology and features - many of which are from the AW Wishlist and were
incorporated where AW did not.
This is a double edged sword here because if ENZO denies that AW is playing
catch up then that means they aren't keeping up with their competition and
if they are playing catch up then it shows that they were slacking for too
long with the AW browser.
Read into this what you will - this would probably be the closest thing to a
straight answer you can hope for.
Apr 9, 2003, 7:22pm
That might have been a straight answer, except your information's way out of date! Don't you read the (virtual) papers? :P
For starters, the reason the AWLD stock ticker no longer represents AWI is because AWI separated from from AWCorp back in July. While AWCorp retained the stock listing
(which got kicked back down to the OTC BB from NASDAQ) and Juno litigation, AWI, now a privately-owned company, got everything else, including all rights to the
ActiveWorlds software. So, the reason you're not seeing any reports from AWI is because they're no longer required to file them, since there are no stockholders to inform.
(http://awnews.org/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=301 for more details).
Secondly, Cyboria died this past February (See for yourself at http://cyboria.com), so that one's no longer a contender. Instead, AW has programs like Second Life and There
to worry about, which are backed by the likes of venture capitalists. But I get the impression that, now that AWI is back to being a private company, Rick and Co. aren't as
worried about competition and are simply "doing their own thing."
At any rate, ENZO said it himself that AWI is doing just fine. Whether he's being truthful or not is another story, but for now that's the only "straight answer" that matters.
