ActiveWorlds Beta Program

Jul 22, 2001, 10:15am
you can, but it would rather exlude you, I think... attending the Tech
Talks, and participating in the discussion would be much more effective,
cuzz that way Roland will see your interest and skills easily...

Copyright question

Jul 26, 2001, 6:26pm
you can register a copyright at the patent office. I think it costs money,
so unless you have something worth a billion dollars that would be easily
reproduced be other I don't think it's worth it... to create a company, just
start doing something, and go to your local city hall for information of
this kind, they're there to tell you...

reg. trademark icon ® alt + 0174 keyboard code for nice trademark icon: alt

KAH
PS. any name like for example Activeworlds is automaticly a trademark, but
it's smart to register company names...

think it was something like pta.gov... they handle all that stuff...

Copyright question

Jul 27, 2001, 2:57pm
hmmm... have you been bit by a lame newbie recently? a trademark used like
this: MyProductNameT is a trademark, it HAS NOT been registered, but it's
still a trademark. a trademark like this: MyCompanyName® is a registered
trademark, the owner has paid 350USD (if it was registered in the U.S) for
it. that's two types of trademark.

KAH
PS. I know this, cuzz I've messed around the patent & trademark site...

lower citnums

Jul 31, 2001, 7:15pm
Hmmm... I went trough the lowest cit numbers and I found that a lot of them
are named after character from Snow Crash, and lots of others are named
after other known fiction characters, for example some from the X-Files.
Also I saw that the names would be divided into 2 cits after eachother, so
is this the work of the AWC?

4 digit number after them... are those actual frauds that have been
discovered or something? and have there REALLY been THAT many frauds?????

and I don't think you understood what he meant... he said that HE had paid
for HIS world LEGALLY, and that YOU made it expire and REFUNDED him, and if
I get it right, used the NAME for something else. That really is bad
customer treatement!

AW Webbrowser

Aug 2, 2001, 12:36pm
well, now you can specify the target frame for URLs, so you could just use
create url somecrap.com/crappage.htm target=_crap and it will open a new
window

KAH
PS. NEVER, EVER POST IN HTML!!

[View Quote] I think we should have an option to set where we want URL's to be opened.

When I click on a URL or link in activeworlds I dont really like the way
that it takes up halve of my screen.

I would much rather see it open in my internet explorer window or have the
option to set where my browser is located.

Would be nice to have the choice of using the internal browser or an
external one.

Many thanks

why is it so bad to point out that he could have been lying?? They seem to
lie on the uni stats page, AW doesn't have over one and a half million
users, so why shouldn't they lie a bit more to get solidarity from the
community, huh? I'm just pointing out a possibility, maybe you want me to
flame you everytime you point out something similar, huh??? man, I was just
being honest, unlike you obviously!

I never said he ***DID*** lie, I only pointed out that he ***COULD*** be
lying... actually, that's valid for ALL statements made by ANYONE, in ANY
case. But most ppl didn't seem to realize that EVEN though it was Rick Noll,
CEO god of the AWC, he COULD have been telling a lie/not-100%-true-thing...
Ergo, I wasn't lying (oh, well, I could've been, but anyway, you could be
lying right now, so that's now all that important)... Have a nice day
finding more arguments against me :-))

My Beliefs (I'm bored)

Aug 14, 2001, 8:31pm
I look at it more as a way of giving ppl hints to what's good for you or
not... many aspects of it grow out of health situations and so on, but as a
christian I also believe in God, Jesus, and all that...

KAH
PS. Anduin, I don't see the point of posting that... and I think something
about something concrete, like cars would've been a bit more appropriate
;-))

My Beliefs (I'm bored)

Aug 15, 2001, 9:29pm
did I say they were? I agree that much of the stuff there is very outdated
(heh, most of it is 2000 + years old). But I think that it might have helped
ppl a bit to have sets of rules, you see it in all the big religions. And
also it has given answers to some fundamental questions so ppl could get on
with their business (except phylosophers, and it's the reason they exist)
plowing, selling stuff at the market, etc. Off course, now we really want to
know everything, so we start asking questions and find more correct answers.

this is because that looks more real, like Goober said, it's called texture

even though being able to adjust the distance would be nice as the current
distance is too short...
