Custom avatars.

Aug 6, 2004, 10:28pm
E N Z O: we are writing the code for Custom avs in AW
E N Z O: then everyone can have whatever they like... inside a few
parameters
E N Z O: hopefully we can release it soon
Rick Noll - 21 November 1998

So, when are we going to get custom avatars?

Then the whole idea of what is considered offensive to people would be
brought up to question. AWI would also lose money as they close down cits
for doing such a thing.

That goes back to the potato head idea, which sounds like it could work very
well.

A "music" command or solving the "create name" bug ? Maybe doing both ?

Aug 12, 2004, 10:17pm
Pssh, C P. If you would just click Eep's links, you would see that he's
doing more than critiquing the current features. He's also suggesting ways
to improve the software. No need to blow your top about it.

It doesn't seem that Eep's post was in any way directed at AWI. He seems to
be just, as you say, refining ideas.

Lol, he's a stubborn little fellow. :)

Change terrain "truform"

Aug 19, 2004, 3:31am
The terrain shouldn't be smoothing out and reducing in poly count until long
after the objects are out of view. When terrain reshapes itself when
objects are still in view, you have issues of terrain intersecting with
objects.

Aug 19, 2004, 3:32am
I say the terrain should start reducing in poly count at about 250 meters,
instead of the 100-150 meters it does now.

Aug 19, 2004, 8:23pm
You look ahead and can see that the terrain is intersecting with the objects
built at the bottom of hills, such as roads along the base of hills. It is
not a pretty sight. It should start truforming *after* the objects
disappear from maximum view.

AWTeen 615S 472W for an example all around the roads.

I talked with the builder and he was frustrated at how terrain blatantly
overlaps his road. This was definitely not his intention to have the
terrain do that. Is it in any way possible to increase distance threshold
for LOD?

Change terrain "truform"

Aug 21, 2004, 5:41am
Well it was just an idea for what AWI should do. It seemed that making
truform before objects disappear at 200 meters was a flaw.

Same difference.

But I still got my point across :P

Change terrain "truform"

Aug 24, 2004, 12:24am
Like I said, I still got my point across, and you still understood. There's
no level of understanding in something this simple. You either do or you
don't. :P

Change terrain "truform"

Aug 24, 2004, 12:24am
Eep instantly knew I was talking about LOD on his first reply. It sounds
like I got my point across efficiently enough :P

Change terrain "truform"

Aug 24, 2004, 7:35pm
Well, I'm glad you knew what I was talking about. I obviously got my point
across to someone.

Aug 24, 2004, 7:55pm
Hmmm that must be how I messed up truform/LOD. Oh well, I didn't expect
people to be completely confused after me saying truform O_o

Privacy!!! what privacy?

Aug 19, 2004, 9:01pm
ICQ has different "away" modes similar to that. It would be nice if AW had
an "afk menu" to choose from which status of afkness you want. I find it
quite effective in ICQ.

To tell if your dead

Aug 24, 2004, 7:34pm
Just have a red X for expired, then when you hold your mouse over it, it
will show the last date that citizen was online.

Smilies?

Aug 26, 2004, 8:47pm
I would prefer everything to be pure text. I hate emoticons.

Smilies?

Aug 27, 2004, 2:36am
If emoticons ever get enabled, I want the option to disable smileys for me,
and for nobody else to see emoticons come from me. I don't think they
reflect my personality. Heh :P

Avatar affected by move

Aug 30, 2004, 10:28pm
E N Z O said something in AWGate about *MAYBE* avatars being able to be
pushed by objects with the release of 3.4.

Avatar affected by move

Sep 2, 2004, 9:08pm
Oops I meant 4.0. Also, I'm not sure E N Z O actually said that.. I just
vaguely remember. I could have misheard the whole thing X_X

Avatar affected by move

Sep 2, 2004, 9:11pm
Yeah, the walk avatar is already affected by all sorts of moving objects.
Object friction, though (dragging the avatar around) would be much harder to
impliment. But I don't think that objects simply pushing a stationary
avatar would be that hard.

Avatar affected by move

Sep 2, 2004, 9:11pm
That's a good idea especially with invisible bump panels that move to keep
everyone in sync.

Command array

Aug 31, 2004, 12:38am
oh those are definitely possible on AAA commands.

Command array

Aug 31, 2004, 12:40am
You can do just about anything with AAA commands, even a playable chess game
(as roadkill pointed out)

Movement Speed Throttle

Sep 7, 2004, 10:59pm
I wish the movement system post-3.4 could detect how fast you were moving
your mouse in mouse mode, so you can just move as fast as you want depending
on how fast your moved your mouse.

AW is the home of vampires...

Sep 6, 2004, 9:21pm
Reflections should at least be an option for those who have computers fast
enough. But contrary to what C P said, connection speed sould not have
anything to do with how fast one's computer works with reflections.

AW is the home of vampires...

Sep 7, 2004, 10:56pm
But still it's rendering, not connection-related. Once the data for the
reflection is transferred to the computer (such as an object type download
or some sort of integrated feature with the browser) the user does not need
to have to worry about having a slower connection just because he or she can
see reflections.
