Smilies? (Wishlist)
Smilies? // Wishlistc pAug 26, 2004, 6:57pm
yeah I know this may sound weird but how about they add some basic things to
aw's chat, like smilies. we can say :) and stuff now but I want to see cute little icons, that maybe would use iconsets, using a sheet that's like full of them so then users could use diuff ones in diff worlds, set by world owner, not universe wide! could also be used for other stuff... isn't it prettybasic though if user says ":)" then replace with 1,5 first column 5 row idk sweAug 26, 2004, 7:28pm
i dunno, i really don't like them smilies, not sure about everyone else
though, but find them kinda strange. -SWE [View Quote] c pAug 26, 2004, 8:31pm
still would you prefer an image of a head with a :) rather than a :)
or maybe avatars could show them as emotions?? when I say :) my avatar smiles, that would be cool [View Quote] tony mAug 26, 2004, 10:17pm
There could always, as usual, be an option to disable the graphical emoticons.
[View Quote] > I would prefer everything to be pure text. I hate emoticons. highflierAug 27, 2004, 12:24am
I don't care much for them however I know some of my friends would use them.
I don't think they would bother me unless they slowed down the browser somehow. It would be nice I guess if world owners could create them to match the theme of the world. I like good clear type myself and half of the typed emoticons I don't even understand anyway as i usually just ignore them. So to type them to me would be useless as I have explained to some friends but a real ones with the face I would understand. I would rather people just type the darn word to me in plain english. ferruccioAug 27, 2004, 2:36am
If emoticons ever get enabled, I want the option to disable smileys for me,
and for nobody else to see emoticons come from me. I don't think they reflect my personality. Heh :P johnfSep 3, 2004, 7:11pm
You mean a texture with all the various emotions on it? Or perhaps a file
with the various emotions and corresponding texture files John [View Quote] c pSep 3, 2004, 8:36pm
lol at the word texture :) sprite kiddo sprite :)
It would probably be best to make it one graphic, I the texture folder, called "Smiles.jpg" or something, that way people could change it on their own op. But the browser would convert them to be whatever it was, :) and it would also probably either need a hardcoding, or a default thing, on each op, like the message set so it knows its own dictionary... so if I say :) it makes a smile. lol probably be structured like this; Div=10:10 :),:-) = 1:1 :(,:-( = 1:2 the comma would be used to separate if more than one face had different ways of typing, and the 1:1, refers to Column one row 1, column 1 row 2 for 1:2, div=10:10 would be a declaration that says there are 100 in the set, 10x10, 10 rows, 10 columns. see? in such a way this file would allow the user to say there are 1:5 so its one column with 5 rows in this we have unlimited possibility, but uses a simple simple code within the browser, im not even kidding, it can be done in VB easily, and a bit harder with c, but its very easy./ [View Quote] lightwaveSep 4, 2004, 5:50am
or you could make a smilies font like this
