How about baseball and/or tennis? We have a simple version of both games

And to be honest, if you were truly guilty, you wouldn't be telling us about
it in the first place, or even defending yourself to us who have no say in
your fate. Of course you're telling the truth TZ. :) And I hope that the
court finds that as well.

that I did not do anything even remotely breaking it. As for the evidence,
or lack thereof, the only whitness would be the girl they arrested along
with me, and she knows I'm innocent. Yes, I am concerned about the
possibility that they may offer her an incentive to lie against me, but I'm
hoping that will not happen. I have done nothing wrong, so it would take a
pretty twisted mind in my opinion to stoop to dishonesty in order to get a
conviction. All I was doing is being a nice guy. If I am prosecuted
dishonestly, I will be found guilty of a crime I did not commit, and there
is nothing I can do about it. If I am given a fair trial, they will find
that a mistake was made and an innocent man was arrested.

nor between myself any the person I had driven to Chicago, nor between
myself and anyone durring my trip to Chicago, nor between myself and anyone
durring my time in Chicago, nor between myself and anyone at any point in
time between the moment in which I first met the man that I drove to Chicago
and the time I got arrested, nor petween myself any anyone at or around the
time that I met the man I drove to Chicago. I can safely and honestly state
all of this to be an absolute fact without hesitation, because before the
police arrested me and accused me of soliciting for prostitution, the
subject of prostitution was not something that I had ever spent much time
thinking about or discussing with anyone. Also, since I find the idea of
selling or buying sex to be revulting, I would not have entered into a
discussion about it without strong feelings of disgust. Unfortunately,
whether I like it or not, I have to deal with it now. I have nothing
against prostitutes, but I do feel bad for those who feel that they must
allow themselves to be degraded in such a way, and I feel bad that any
prostitute or any other person may ever feel they must participate in the
degradation of others in order to earn money for survival. I did not see
the girl I was helping as a prostitute. I saw her as a person who had asked
about food and may have been hungry and in need.

"anything" whatsoever for the purpose of prostitution, nor have I ever taken

part in any act or acts of prostition, nor would I even consider taking part
in an act of prostition.

You totally miss the thrust of my arguements sometimes... :) Clarification:
Odds are in TZ's favor that he didn't do it because he's talking about it to
a bunch of people (us) who never would have known these charges were brought
up had he not told them in the first place, nor would he have taken the time
to write a four page long article detailing what happened when you know that
won't be heard in court. If you're guilty, you just don't do that.

Yeah, where's the leadership? Enzo, your employees come up with some great
ideas to spice things up around here. But when the people who spearheaded
them left the company, the ideas fizzled out. It sounds to me that the
company's right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. And as much
of a nice guy as you are, Enzo, if you want us users to see you as a
credible leader of this company, then you've got some serious housekeeping
to do over there in Newburyport.

I'm kind of wondering what you think the appeal is. Obviously one of those
appeals is building.

It was that time several years ago when we first got lighting and fog.
World managers were playing around with it so much that people complained.
(Though I kind of liked it) It wasn't so much on a schedule as that it was
done so often.

How many people read these newsgroups or visit the website once they have
downloaded the browser? It sounds to me like word didn't really get out
there. Course I could be wrong. There's no community feel around here
anymore, so why would people feel the need to vote? Just like American
politics. In anycase, community involvement needs to be stimulated.

It is because you have done nothing community-oriented in Alphaworld since
before development on NewAW began. Comit's point is that it looks like you
are neglecting holding community events and bolstering any fan support you
have in favor of whatever you have deemed as the purpose of NewAW. Can you
not support both?
>
> e. Are you sure there was a plan to revamp AWGZ?
If there wasn't there should be a plan to revamp not just AW GZ, but the
surrounding area within twenty coordinates of GZ (sans builds now under
control of AWHS). In fact a cool community oriented idea would be to wipe
that area clean every few months and hold a building contest of some sort.
Prizes don't have to be awarded. Just building near GZ is prize in itself.
The original area can be dumped into AWGZ world with dates preserved so the
history buffs don't get quite so upset.
At the very least appoint a task force to destroy the vandalism and cover
the ground.

More community-oriented events that the company holds and involvement from
you and your employees. Features don't make the world go round, and they're
nice, but it would be better to have an involved upper management. I think
that would stimulate community involvement from your users.

In regards to answer A, Binarybud is saying that it's the fact that he
doesn't think it will ever be shut down or wiped that makes AW have appeal
to folks who want to have their builds last a long time.

I'm going to make an enigmatic post. Maybe it will mean something to you,
maybe it won't, but intuition tells me that a lot of the things that have
been called into question, namely your leadership, have roots in your
falling out with Protag over the direction of AW.
The direction you chose for AW isn't at issue. What's at issue is that you
need to work through that yourself. Nobody but you and Protag really knows
what happened, and it has become the stuff of legend around here. If you
haven't put it behind you, I suggest you stop running and face it down once
and for all. And a solution to this community issue may present itself.
Enigmaticness aside...
So you have a community and you didn't intend to build one. You can't just
walk away from that. And you haven't. I appreciate everything you and the
company has done to support other people holding community events.
But we want you and your company to hold some events of your own. You are
the system admin, the President. And it is in your company's best interest
to be part of the community and to be there for them.
You're there for them now, but you're not part of them. Stop acting like a
businessman and come down from on high to mingle with us!! :) Open an
informal dialog to the users and go one step beyond customer service. A
Universal Small Town Feel. You can use that line if you want.
Here's some company goals I think you should consider:
1. Make the universal small town feel part of the company's credo.
2. Establish a policy that all staff must put in a certain amount of time a
week socializing in AW and (not or) posting in the newsgroups. This not
only gives users a dialog to the staff, it gives the staff a knowledge of
community workings, features in the browser, develop a talent for building.
It allows them to better serve customers through e-mail and over the phone
with this knowledge. It creates a better customer service environment and
for the regulars at least, makes those brief contacts over the phone more
personal. And a little play time makes for happier employees.
3. Start with small goals, then slowly graduate onto accomplishing large
ones. Plan and hold one event. Then try to plan two separate events. Be
creative with scheduling, subject matter, etc.
4. Work hard and have fun doing it.
Event ideas
GZ Building Contest
Chat with Enzo & JP at Uncle Enzo's Pizzaria
AW Electric Boogaloo - Disco Partay w/ AW's employees
Virtual Employee for a Day? (brainstorming, here)
Checkers Tournament
Paintball (with AW employees participating)

Greetings,
You're all cordially invited to this year's SW City birthday party. We will
be celebrating 5 years with you and want you to come and partake in
everything the city has to offer. We are here to serve you. :)
This post will (hopefully :P) be updated regularly this week with the
schedule for the next day's events. You can find the full schedule at
http://birthday.swcity.net/. Here is the schedule for Wednesday, March 24,
2004.
10pm VRT

Join us on the night of the official birthday, when SW City actually turns 5
years old! We'll discuss history and other SW tidbits while having a drink
at the SW Bar/Pub, SW City's first building. If you are new to the city,
stick around and ask any questions you have to the Core Staff if you want,
but come out and hear some stories that may interest you.

Also at 10pm VRT to Sunday, 12am VRT
Syntax Estates' Rock Sculpture Building Contest Opens
Syntax Estates is well known in SW City for being the "artsy" subcommunity
(Tranquility Fountain, anyone?) so we are going to make it well known to
everyone that it is. Bring your best rock3.rwx because we want you to build
us your best rock sculpture. Animals, people, objects; anything you want to
sculpt out with your rocks is acceptable! Rules are listed at the contest
site. This event will continue all the way until the last day event of the
bash, which is late night on Sunday. Further event details will be at the
Highway Park Plains contest site.
Meet at Highway Park Plains Contest Site>> 2233.20S 3877.45E 270
We hope you will come and enjoy this week's festivities. :)

It will also drop FPS, which is something I couldn't afford to lose. So I
pointed my GL-1 camera at my CRT monitor. I edited it in Vegas Video, did
loads of color correction and retouching and rendered to DivX through that
program as well. The slightly washed out look you get when recording the
monitor was intentional to give the video a slightly ethereal quality. :)

Thanks for your comments. We'll work on the problem about all of us talking
at once. But our audience is for Active Worlds listeners, so we didn't feel
that we needed to promote Active Worlds to anyone who hasn't heard of it
yet. Oh well. :) Hope you enjoy listening to the rest of the ep. It's a
gasser.

Oh yes... I find it equally strange that she is defending the very person
who allegedly rigged the contest and ensured her a losing place. If she
were at all consistent, she'd be screaming from here to Timbuktu. Wouldn't
you agree?
General notice for all of you:
If you want to change how building contests are done, arguing about it here
won't help. In fact, this drivel is all rather pointless. Actually, I'm
rather tempted to hold a building contest and exempt from it any contest
junkies who seem to show up in every one. Just to get some new blood and
less bickering. Sheesh... you'd think we were auctioning off a nuclear
bomb...
