what the hell is up with the AFantasy contest?!??!! Builds like spyder's
didnt even get a prize, yet his build was clearly the best... it was original and imaginative, with excellent attention to detail UNLIKE the winner, Chrystal. Her house looked exactly like the template house at GZ!!! All she did was copy the house Sexy Eyes built at GZ and furnished it, how the heck does that make her the best builder in the contest? Either this contest was staged to get out of paying the $100, I don't know but whatever it is totally unfair... I think a lot of the judging catagories were very subjective, and some
couldnt even really apply to template houses-like good use of textures, when the builder used the default texture on the object. Use of commands also cant really apply much to a template house because of that reason. Good presentation, Good structure/symmetry, etc are also fairly vague. yeah a lot of people would prefer to have a 3 month extension than a lame

I don't understand how I placed 6th. Can judging really be based on numbers?
Architecture is art. This is like saying a house with 5 bedrooms scores higher than one with 4. I understand it has to be unbiased, but seriously, I guess you have to see it to understand. Also, if you look at Chrystal's house from the FRONT YARD instead of the side yard (where the contest warp brings you...), her house looks very simular to the example house. At first, I even thought of using the same object set for my entry, but I figured I'd be counted down, seeing as it's unoriginal. I'd like to congradulate those who actually did win something. Pay somebody $100 to put together a lego set using the instructions, give $10 to the person who made something completely different with them. -spyder spyderNov 1, 2004, 12:00am

hmm, well i personally think she has the right to be angry and eject you
guys if you were complaining non stop. she was doing a nice thing, so doesn't deserve that sorta attitude (unless it really was staged, by her). And from an objective standpoint, I must agree that the shape of Chrystal's

I find it a bit sad to harass Sexy Eyes like this. She doesn't owe you guys
anything, AW sponsored her contest according to her rules. How about no contest or how about no prizes? Every contest in the world, no matter who judges, will be subjective when it comes to art. Were all smart enough that we know this, so if you can't handle losing than dont enter. But to harass the host is a rude thing to do, frankly I am thankful to have been able to join in on the contest, even with 5th place, I won a 3 month cit extension, funny but thats the first thing I have won in 2 years. If you objectively reviewed all the contests I have been in for the past two years, you would see I get prejudicely and unequally judged for each one, worse than anyone else. I dont think this contest was rigged, but seriously, this happens with each and every contest, the same group whines and complains if they dont win, you sound like spoiled brats like they are supposed to get special treatment and win each one. I get a little frustrated hearing that Spyder was supposed to win, like he was so original, first of all, Spyder's building, during construction had real life blueprints and floor plans and all just lying beside his build, now if thats not unoriginal, than I dont know what is, Josh was always around when he built and I wouldn't doubt if he helped him build it, though this is not a valid claim. Maybe the next contest should not allow prefab objects? Anyways I am just thankful to even get to participate, and please, stop harassing Sexy Eyes, she was only trying to do something fun for halloween. Seriously though who was supposed to win? okay time to end this crap... but meh i already think it died, since you
people are converting currency.. anyway... first off.. why am i always at my contest lot? i'm afk, silly. usually you can find that out if i park my av on the bed... putting on lipstick and kissing judge butt... no... besides the fact i didn't even know who the judges were, i don't wear lipstick :o. also, it's nice to read what people comment on throught the night (compliments;ideas;criticism). why is josh there? he obviously knows how to make a winning house, so he gives me tips or ideas. why do i build from blueprints? because i'm considering choosing architecture as a major when i go to college, unoriginal? in a way, i guess, but when i was considering what i would build for the contest, i'd figured "is it easy to build from your mind, or from specifications?" i hate building from my mind because the next day i dislike what i've already built. following blueprints is having to meet the requirements of a guide. oh seiya -- that gang up deali-o had nothing to do with josh, it was like 4am his time when that happened, and didn't you say you enjoyed that, since it "motivated" you to build even more? anyway, i do agree on the fact SE was the host and it was wrong to get rowdy with her, seeing as she had no control over the judge marks. even the day i registered for the contest, i told her the prize was very generous of her. i would be frustrated too, but oh well. these contests are the main reason i use activeworlds, i only build when theres a 'purpose' behind it. the main shocker which was surprising was when Chrystal got away with 1st place with those prefab'd walls. Many agree her entry looks very simular to the gz/model house. variety is very limited when using a building set. this just in, from the screenshot of my house on the afantasy website, i've realized the interior textures zbuffered in with the siding textures. http://www.afantasy.us/spyder.jpg If this was the case with the judges... that's a technical flaw. I'm sure that wasn't the problem, though. Anyway, the contest is history, i feel no more need to complain(or whine) about my loss, if things were to actually go my way and I get first, I'll feel guilty for Chrystal. Things are they way they are. Hopefully I've addressed all issues I felt needed clarification, and I still believe I somehow implanted some soft flaming in here.
