There was a kid like that in my kindergarten class... And he's still doing
it in a figurative sort of way, a la Eep. Interesting how that behavior
manifests itself in different ways later on in life, no?
Eep's an old scrooge, and I'm not surprised to see that a lot of people are
just as happy with him out of here. He's made some good points before, but
they don't justify his rude behavior. I'm not saying he has to act like an
English gentleman, but he should at least treat others with some civility.
Good riddance. hmph.

This is exactly the sort of thing that needs to stop right now. The
community newsgroup shouldn't just be about posting announcements and
diatribes. It's about community building.
The days of self-policing this newsgroup should have been long gone by now.
Whining's not going to stop it, and if there's a post un-related to the
community, ignore it and Flagg will take care of it. That's what he's there
for.
I'm going to say this once and never bring it up again. So be thankful. :)
The general discussion newsgroup has done more for the folks of the
community who visit these newsgroups by providing a place to just vent and
talk about anything than this 'community' forum ever has.
Just my two wuipuipi.

Let me tell of a tale 'bout a man named George..
Rich beyond his years, he taxed to death the poor
Then one day he raised his taxes through the roof
And over in the States came a bubblin feud.
(Revolt, that is, no taxation, without representation)
Well, the first thing you know the armies was drawin near
Colonists said, George, get the heck outta here.
Said, London is the place your armies oughta be
So they loaded up the rifles and sent them back to Britainy.
Well, now it's time to say goodbye, to George and all his friends
They would like to thank you folks for the lot o' dividends
This'll never be a British Commonwealth again.
Say hello to the United States, a new country for free men.
(Declaration, that is, of independence, and liberty).
Y'all come back now, hear?
--
Moral of this story. This business plan's going to kill AW in the same
amount of time leaving the pricing alone will. Alternative solution: Kill
the 3D homepage program, sell the excess bandwidth, and cut all
non-essential jobs, and I'm certain Mr. Noll and Mr. McCormick and other
staff members can take a salary cut. Then if there's still not enough to
pay off your debts, raise the renewal prices a few dollars, but not so much
that a lot of folks can't afford it.
SW Chris

Ugh.. Ok I'm retracting this. It's a fun read but I think Facter convinced
me to hang in there. If Rick knows what he's doing, then this is all a very
small part of a last-ditch effort to save AW! Just wait and you'll see.
It's got about a 50/50 chance of happening I gather, so hope and pray that
it does.
Rick and everyone else... whatever this plan of yours is, it better work.
The best of luck to all of you. Go get em!

Woe to ye who is so tragic. This community's not dead yet, and it won't be
unless talk like that prevails. Just because some folks will leave doesn't
mean the community is dead and a new one will take its place.
A community is ever-changing. One expands and shrinks as time goes on. The
same people don't make up a community. If that were to happen, it wouldn't
be a community but a group of like-minded people. A community without
change dies. The change I'm talking about is not the price hikes, but the
new faces that will come into this community and the old faces that will
leave.
Everyone here has a choice. Stay and make the best of a seemingly bad
situation and make that situation better, or just leave. If you leave
because _you_ want to, then cya around. Do what you think is right for you.

Lioness is right in her actions, guys. There is a small category of people
who won't be able to pay because they simply can't. Not because they don't
want to. Sympathize with them and don't make them out to be the bad guys.

True, SWE. :) But don't expect such a drastic change between the new

Not to nitpick or anything, but when a few people show disrespect for the
company that gave us the software, by starting up illegal universes or
migrating to them and all that jazz, what else can AW do but threaten to
take legal action?

Yes, well, the Eep's of the world would have disapproved with that. If I
recall, there was significant opposition to Junodome. Even that word is
somewhat derogatory in AWspeak. :) Can't please everyone all the time.
AWC can still pull out of their financial troubles. They're not dead yet.
