I didn't know what to think about this plan before, but I read the
"citizenship cancellation" help page now, and look what's written there:
"If you change your mind and would like to renew your citizenship, you may
do so for up to 30 days after cancellation. After 30 days, your citizen ID
and any properties built with that ID will be permanently deleted."
I guess that means Roland is going to purge the AlphaWorld database
periodically, which is bad news for all the historic buildings that people
have worked so hard on. Better back up AW's history now.
Perhaps I'm just misinterpreting this statement - can anyone clarify this?

If true, that's absolutely outrageous. Those buildings are a historical part
of a miniature society, ours.
Jan 3, 2002, 6:11pm
Well.. I've finished the latter I'm planning on sending to Rick and JP. I
was wondering if there's anything else you guys want me to consider adding?
I definately don't agree with removing historical buildings.. they're what
make AW, AW. As for the rest of this.. I hope this shows what their
"business analyst" and the rest of the board of directors thinks about the
community.. I said this once in another community.. "Power corrupts,
absolute power corrupts absolutely." This still holds true in this
decision. That's my opinion anyways :)

All I can say is good luck. You'll need it... maybe they'll consider your
plan.
Jan 3, 2002, 6:20pm
Thank you, I certainly hope they do.. they've really doomed the company with
this decision, sure there'll be some people left.. not enough to bring in
more money then what they charged before this "no tourist" idea. The
tourists are their source of immigration into the universe.. what a bad idea
to eliminate the one thing that's bringing in the people who can pay the
money to use the software.. this is by far a MMORPG and shouldn't be
considered it since it's missing quite a lot of features and functions an
RPG would have. Not to mention framerates.

WTF? All my work in AW, gone for future generations. Such a waste it has
been, as those of us that will leave won't even be allowed to leave a
legacy. But such is the way of the worlds, not only is a very lonely place
on the horizon, but now a very empty one too. If anyone would be willing to
pursue a TOTAL propdump of Alphaworld, I suggest you start now, regardless
of AWC's approval or assistance - it'll take awhile.
Perhaps if AWC has a place left for those that care, they'll allow a select
one or two universes to have a copy of a recent backup of the Alphaworld
database, but I doubt it'll happen.

aaaah!!! at least I hope this only will occur in AWC owned worlds (if it's
added to the world server I'll PAY someone to crack it for me!)! One thing
is deleting the stuff in the cit DB, but removing it from the worlds...

Just make sure you don't use terms that you wouldn't use to your parents. We
all know what they are by now ;). Good luck Cozmo.

It says nothing in there about deleting current non-renewed citizens.
Please, if you're not sure what it means, don't add fuel to the fire.

They aren't going to delete the current non-renewed citizens builds. It
doesn't say anything about that. Now go reexamine that statement.
Now, about future non-renewables... where does that leave SW City? There'll
be empty lots everywhere.

Which is why I appended a sentence on the bottom asking any if they know
what it means. I asked Roland, and he basically replied saying that he
doesn't know what the heck that means.
I'm going to E-Mail Mountain Myst next - maybe she'll have to answer :)

....and not near to enough ppl to keep the company going, *takes on domesday
prophet clothes*, I'm reading their latest S E C report (3rd quarterly
report 2001, read it yourself
http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1089531/000112528201502662/b314784_10
qsb.txt), shows that until September they had 1.75 MILLION USD in losses,
and the loss for the quarter was of half a million USD, which means they
probably had *WELL* over 2 million USD in losses for 2001 :-(( there's no
way they can get the money to restore themselfes by doing this increase on
the users!

If I read that correctly, all it means is if you get a new citship and
then cancel it before you have to start paying, then everything you've
built with that citship will get deleted after 30 days. But if you
cancel after you start paying, then you don't have to worry about anything.
At least, I *hope* that's what it means...
