ok,i still dont understand why everyone is complaining bout the pricing even
though we still pay $20 to renew out existing citizenships. And it will stay
at that price till sometime next month when they decide on the renewal
price. which for all we know, wont be that much more. so maybe u guys should
wait until we accully have to pay a large sum.but for now just lay low for
abit, maybe arrange a protestion group or something reeady for the events
that will occer sometime-febuary. or maybe even wait until 3.3 comes
out, then decide if its worth $120 for.

From what I understand, if your citship runs out before March 3, you can
renew now at the existing rate. There are protest groups out there. This
newsgroup is one way of protesting cus we know AWC reads the messages on
here on occasion. There is/was also a petition which was signed by nearly
2000 citizens also protesting. There have been numerous discussions and
suggestions held in AW and other AW related unis that we know folks from AWC
have been listening to. There have been hundreds if not thousands of emails
sent to AWC with suggestions and complaints. Nothing has changed yet.
Personally, I highly doubt if it will change at all. And according to the
letter, AWC has already decided on the pricing increase. AWC could have done
a lot of things to improve performance and their financial outlook, but now
its too late. You can lie low if you want hon, but as for myself and over
1000 other citizens, we're up in arms over this astronimical proposal. If
you would read most of the messages left here, you'd understand why AW is so
important to most of its citizens. Especially those who are home bound. And
you might be financially well off and don't consider a jump from 19.95 a
year to 120 bucks a year significant, but there are those of us who can't
afford that, especially when all we do in AW is sit there and chat a few
hours a week. If I was a world owner and heavily into building and bots and
bingo I wouldn't hesitate to pay what they're asking, however I am a single
mom trying to make ends meet and that much of an increase in a year affects
not only me but also my child. I'm sure most of the other citizens in AW's
unis can relate to that situation. So NO!! I am NOT going to lie low. I am
going out fighting. Even if my fighting falls on deaf ears. And I know I
won't be alone in this.

Congratulations to both of you for having so much success in life. I'm sure in a few years I'll earn enough money for that too. For
now I'm a student and I clearly DON'T have 10 more $ per month to spend.
I agree that complaining is useless, but saying that a 600% price increase is "not that much more" is absolutely incorrect.

Hahaha... Not really foxmccloud, it's just that so far nothing has been cast in stone. If you would take a look at my entry in the
online petition, you would see that I do think that the PROPOSED increase is far to much. I suggested that the rate ( if indeed one is
needed) be increased to about 25.00 a year. That, in itself, is a 25% increase. I also suggested that the tourist mode be continued.
Although I can see putting a "try before you buy" time limit on it.

thats the point i am making, u dont need 10 more dollars a month, old cits
still pay the normal $20 a year, until feb something, but even then i doubt
they will charge us more then $30 or $40 dollars to renew,so lets jsut wait
till febuary, and then complain about the confused managers who r either
tring to get ride of AW or dominate it. OH and i am also a student! still 15

I don't think petitions help too much! AW just looks at them and says "Holy
shit, look at all these people so nuts about AW that they'll make a
petition... how many of those are willing to shovel out more dough?!"
If you are petitioning, it just shows that you love AW enough to spend your
time doing that - and possibly love AW enough to pay more than you really
want to pay. Sure, you want the prices to drop to $30 or $40 a year, but
honestly, I think there will be a lot of people who said they were going to
leave and find it extremely hard to let go, and so they won't. They'll fork
out the dough.
I don't like this extra $$ thing iether, but I'm not going around
petitioning all day and yelling that AWCom sucks and crap. I'm not addicted,
I don't go to AW every waking hour like many of you do. (notice I didn't say
all of you so don't start beating me into the ground for that statement)
Sure, they raise the prices. *shrug* I can't pay that kind of money, I'm
only 14 years old, I don't even have a job! I make a little over $400 a year
from allowance and that is it. But I'm not pouting about this.
Your best chances are to forget about it and enjoy AW while you still can!
The more time you spend petitioning, the more AWC is apt to leave it at $120
a year, where they believe you will all pay because you're addicted or
because you just love AW so much. I mean, that's why you're petitioning,
right?

Lioness is right in her actions, guys. There is a small category of people
who won't be able to pay because they simply can't. Not because they don't
want to. Sympathize with them and don't make them out to be the bad guys.

Did you not read the F.A.Q? In Feb 2003 they are already going to be
charging us $10 per month, they accidentally spilt that information I'm
guessing.
That's why you renew your cit NOW, before the end of January so you don't
have to pay the $10 per month until next year.
This month is the last month they are allowing us to renew for $20 per year.

The way I read that was that they were basically making a reference to the
new pricing ... i.e. once your citizenship reaches its renewal date,
renewals be made on the basis of whatever the "existing citzen's" pricing is
decided upon.
