though, a mild, peaceful rebuke will go leagues farther than a flaming

attention in the loudest way possible, but only if other methods have
failed. Sorry if I sound like an android, but that's how it usually works.

5MB is way too big, it bogs up 56K users. :) So is 2MB. Really though...
MIDI is usually hardware based on the sound card, so depending on which card
you use, most of the time it's going to sound pretty cheesy.

Absolute truth or not, you don't bring this to the attention of teh
community. It's not a community issue. I'm not defending what Ananas did,
but this is not the place for this.

That is my definition of a community as well. And please, no flattery. :)
The key word here is common interest. Ananas vandalizing your property is
essentially a big misunderstanding. Perhaps you should take down that page
and work things out with him privately. Personal grudges are not the common
interest of this community.

If I may be so bold....

Please use a different term for what he's done. Ananas does not inspire
fear, or terror, to achieve his goals, therefore, he is not a terrorist.
Ananas cannot be a terrorist becuase he deleted a build that had no business
being in a world.

As I understand it, you misunderstood what CarolAnn said. You thought she
gave you permission when in fact she said no. There's nothing wrong with
that because somewhere in there communication between you two accidentally
broke down. But what is wrong is you going around accusing someone as being
just as bad as those who killed 6000 people in the name of God.

In my opinion, that is as bad as killing those 6000 yourself. Now, please
take it to e-mail. It doesn't belong here.

Aw is becoming more and more messed up every day...

Oct 4, 2001, 5:51pm
Is it just me, or have some of our long-time optimists become cynics? :( I
hate to see that happen.

Brant, well said. I think those who do support a particular topic should be
more vocal. It adds support to the cause.

AWDebate and Citizens Union were essentially the same idea wrapped up in
different wrapping paper. When and if that world opens, it's going to make
a great addition.

Ever since I've come here, I've seen nothing but improvement in the way
Active Worlds handles the development of its community. However, all of you
whining about how the community has gone downhill (and maybe I count myself
in this category), let's do something about it! AWC can't do everything.

Programming wise, like eep has said, things seem to have stagnated a bit
("seem" is a key word here). With the addition of a second programmer,
hopefully more things will get done so they can concentrate more on fixing
the existing bugs as well as continually developing the software to attract
more customers (Business 101).

Responses within...
[View Quote] She also gives you the option of calling Active Worlds and doing it over the
phone if you are concerned about security.

All professional services warn you never to send important credit card
information via e-mail. They also warn that they will never ask for personal
passwords etc. However, with AWcom, they continue to treat their clientele
with no respect and suggest they risk credit card security so that they can
gain their $$.

Try to keep the conspiratorial tone down, he? :) Everyone knows that you
treat your customers properly or you _don't_ gain their $$. I'm pretty sure
AWC has grasped that aspect of business. :P

Last week I notified AWcom that myself and another customer BOTH received
alarming errors from AWcom's new site after entering credit card
information. Both myself and the other customer were ignored! Again on
Thursday I contacted Tom who again ignored my concern about their improperly
functioning site!

Noelle's response could be the response to both of these inquiries.

Friday a customer used the system and was double billed by AWcom sending
them into overdraft and costing them fees!

He probably double-clicked on the Submit button.

AWcom not only double billed them, they immediately killed their registered
trial, and never sent them their new password all weekend. Now does "Take
the Money and Run" sound familiar? The customer and myself sent e-mails
and they were again ignored.

Maybe a side effect of having a semi-automated system, registering right
before closing time, and not having a full customer-service department in
place yet after Facter's dismissal? :) Again, probably technical problems,
but it definitely should be resolved in either case.

The number one concern of AWcom should be the proper handling of customers
credit cards and moneys!!!!
What does it take?
Letters of complaint to the Better Business Bureau?
http://www.bb.org
Contacting the FTC - Fair Trade Commission?
http://www.ftc.gov/
Contacting your bank and the Credit Card Companies?
I am really tired of the apathy AWcom has surrounding people's security. It
is a shame they only appear to care about themselves and not the people who
pay their wages! It is a sad shame that management appears nowhere in these
matters but the lack of management and concern shows immensely!
