Build 76 is now available for download.
To see what's new in this build, visit: http://caesar.homeunix.org/aw/relay/Help/build76.htm A very important bugfix made should help reduce the amount of lag from all previous 2.0 builds. http://caesar.homeunix.org/aw/relay/ -- Tony M. ChatRelayBot 2.0, Build 77, General Production-Quality ReleaseJun 6, 2003, 4:57am
When I first started creating the very first cut of the CRB a long while back, I didn't imagine that it would become such a highly purposeful bot. The ChatRelayBot's home was (and still is) Shred's world ziOn; the very first builds of the CRB were like this: you only had a color choice of orange, and you were required to "join" the relay system. This was later refined over the course of almost half a year to the point where we now have many choices of color, and it's no longer mandatory to "join" the system :)
The open-beta release of Active Worlds 3.4 set the stage for many interesting new features that came about in version 2.0 of the ChatRelayBot. I've had fun developing and learning as I've issued all of these builds for ChatRelayBot 2.0. I must thank Panther1403 of the world AAWR for their continued support of the ChatRelayBot since build 71. Interacting with AAWR to locate [and fix :)] bugs in the ChatRelayBot was a fun experience for me. I hope other worlds begin to embrace the ChatRelayBot like AAWR has from the beginning. I hope you've had fun too, and now you can enjoy what you've been waiting for since ChatRelayBot 2.0 went into beta :) This isn't the end of the line for the ChatRelayBot; it's still unclear what the roadmap for version 2.1 is, so if you've got some ideas, send them either via the handy-dandy Feedback Agent, or by old-fashioned email to tony at caesar.homeunix.org. =============== Download from http://caesar.homeunix.org/aw/relay as always. ChatRelayBot 2.0, Build 78
Maintenance Release #1 This is maintenance release #1 of ChatRelayBot 2.0. Bug Fixes The following bugs have been resolved in this build: 1. The Bone URL in the Configuration Dialog did not activate upon being clicked. 2. If the bot was started with the Minimize to Tray option off, and it was later enabled, the program would not minimize to tray until restarted. 3. If the Minimize to Tray option was used, and the CRB restored from the tray, it would attempt to spawn another CRB. 4. The Apply button was never activated when entering a channel password in the Configuration Dialog. 5. The error EConvertError appeared in the log when using /shun with no parameters, or a non-existent user. 6. The error EStringListError appeared in the log when using /bone, /auth, /set, /controllers, /throttle, and /censor with no parameters. 7. The command /forbiddenaliases was not being recognised by the command parser. New Features/Enhancements There are no new features or enhancements in this Maintenance Release. I created this originally for use in ziOn a long while back, but it's fairly usable for other worldowners.

[ Three bots in one weekend; that's an interesting accomplishment. :) ]
http://www.homeunix.uni.cc/aw/relay ChatRelayBot 2.1, Build 84 Beta Notice This version of the ChatRelayBot is beta software. There are still issues that may come up in the beta version that could cause possible loss of program-related data, and affect the stability of either your system or the program. If you do not wish to test beta-quality and potentially unstable software, you should wait until this version of the ChatRelayBot has been officially released as production-quality software. New Features/Enhancements The following features/enhancements have been introduced in this build: 1. The tabs in the Configuration Dialog have been removed. There is now a list box on the left side of the dialog. 2. The ChatRelayBot no longer depends on the presence of bone.dll for operation; if the DLL is missing, the Bone functionality will simply not be available. 3. It is now possible to have multiple instances of a ChatRelayBot in several different worlds and universes within a single application. * WARNING: This feature has caused some regressions in the usability of the CRB. Due to the complexity of managing multiple instances within a single application, some functions from version 2.0 are no longer available in 2.1. 4. The channel number of a speaker now appears in the GUI's chat history, as well as the world they spoke from. 5. The Event Viewer now contains a navigation bar (First, Previous, Next, Last). 6. The ChatRelayBot will no longer process text that begins with / as a command if it is less than 2 characters in length. 7. The main GUI has been completely overhauled * The control buttons ("Start", "Stop", ...) have been moved to a toolbar. * The HTML viewer for chat history has been replaced with a richedit control. * Added a menu. * A Restart function is now available. 8. The User Information Dialog will now give rights to bots. 9. The ChatRelayBot no longer logs when it loads/saves its settings and when it receives world attributes. 10. The ChatRelayBot now allows you to mute the text of others in-world, just like the browser's mute function. 11. Bots will no longer receive a console message from the ChatRelayBot when users are chatting in the Hide Chat relay mode. 12. The user list storage has been revised, and should improve performance. Bug Fixes The following bugs have been resolved in this build: 1. Chat received from Bone users will now be written to the ChatRelayBot's log. ChatRelayBot 2.1-BETA (build 84)Sep 15, 2003, 8:29pm
The other two bots would likely not have been released if there wasn't a request for such functions; I consider them "finished", as they do what they're expected to quite well. CRB will continue to receive foremost attention among my AW bots :)

ChatRelayBot 2.1, Build 85 Beta Notice This version of the ChatRelayBot is beta software. There are still issues that may come up in the beta version that could cause possible loss of program-related data, and affect the stability of either your system or the program. If you do not wish to test beta-quality and potentially unstable software, you should wait until this version of the ChatRelayBot has been officially released as production-quality software. Bug Fixes The following bugs have been resolved in this build: 1. Attempted fix for crashing on startup under Windows XP. ChatRelayBot 2.1-BETA Crash WorkaroundSep 23, 2003, 11:13am
Crashes on startup for 2.1 builds 84 and 85 are believed to be due to missing relay0.ini and profiles.ini. The workaround is to simply create these files and then restart the CRB.
If anybody is still encountering crash problems with the CRB, please file a bug report as usual. ChatRelayBot 2.1, Build 86Sep 28, 2003, 10:14pm

The /crb:report command has been renamed to /status. 4. New /restart command restarts the current CRB instance. 5. Colors for command responses and certain notices are now customisable. Bug Fixes The following bugs have been resolved in this build: 1. There seems to be a very rare condition where the SDK function aw_instance() returns NULL, causing the CRB to spectacularly crash. This is continuing to be investigated; an attempted workaround is now in place. ChatRelayBot StatusNov 8, 2003, 2:27am
Not many bug reports have come in for ChatRelayBot 2.1-BETA for the latest build. Bugzilla was temporarily broken, but has been fixed since the beginning of this month. If you're experiencing any problems, or have suggestions to make, please use the Bugzilla system. [ http://homeunix.uni.cc/bugzilla/buglist.cgi ]
Version 2.1 is expected to enter Release Candidate phase this Sunday (Nov. 9), unless major bugs are discovered. This is the last planned version in the 2.x series. Version 3.0 is in simultaneous development with 2.1; it is a complete rewrite of the CRB core in standard C++. Feature suggestions for 3.0 are welcome (as they are also welcome for 2.1!) It is being considered for version 3.0 to not include the "distance-relay" (i.e., non hide chat) mode. If there is still demand for this relay mode, please tell me now, before 3.0 goes near beta stage :) Also, please ensure that you report any problems with 2.1-BETA before it enters Release Candidate phase. I'd like to iron out any major problems before closing out 2.x :) -- Tony M. ChatRelayBot 2.1-RC1, Build 88Nov 9, 2003, 6:48pm

ChatRelayBot 2.1, Build 88 Release Candidate #1 ChatRelayBot 2.1 has entered release-candidate phase. If no further issues are raised with this build by Sunday November 16 2003, it will be released as the final production-quality build. Note that this release candidate may still contain bugs, and should be treated as beta-quality until the production release. Bug Fixes 1. For multi-universe profiles, the CRB would attempt to use the same universe login information from the last profile for all instances. (Thanks, CodeWarrior) 2. Fixed spurious crash issue if License.rtf is missing. 3. If you said "No" or "Cancel" to the restart prompt, the CRB would attempt to restart anyway. Enhancements 1. Startup/shutdown logging messages are more clear. 2. The avatar list now clears when the CRB is stopped. ChatRelayBot 2.1 (Final Production Release)Nov 19, 2003, 1:55am

I am using a Windows 2000 system, and can absolutely assure that it WILL function on this OS.
I have never received any emails from you regarding crashes, so I am unable to help you in any regard since you appear to have given up. It must be concluded that your problems are in fact a hardware issue, and not related to the software. Have you tried any other OSes? On other computers? Please e-mail me with your troubles, as I do not wish to carry out support through the newsgroups. *** (Followup-To set to 'poster') [View Quote] 3D-Reality.com Paintball Bot Build #22Dec 16, 2003, 12:55am
Put a small page giving information about the bot; giving the URL just to the zip file doesn't work with some people :)

http://homeunix.uni.cc/aw/relay
Introduction ChatRelayBot version 3.0, which has been in steady development since the last bugfix build of version 2.1, is now available for review by the public. Please note this is BETA-quality software; there are still issues that may come up in the beta version that could cause possible loss of program-related data, and affect the stability of either your system or the program. If you do not wish to test beta-quality and potentially unstable software, you should wait until this version of the ChatRelayBot has been officially released as production-quality software. Brief Review of Some New Features 1. Language Files — Each user can individually select a language file (using the /langset command), which changes the command output. Messages such as the CRB startup/shutdown are also localized. 2. A limited selection of user commands can now be issued through the CRB GUI. Consult the Version 3.0 Handbook to see what commands can be used through the GUI. 3. If you enter a world where your alias is already in use, it will be reset back to your original name. 4. If someone enters with an alias that is forbidden (i.e., the list of forbidden aliases was updated while they were not present), it will be reset. 5. When updating the Forbidden Aliases list while the CRB is active, any users with forbidden aliases will be reset. 6. For users who are still running version 3.3 of the Active Worlds® browser, they will no longer see an echo of themselves. Reporting Bugs or Other Problems Please report all bugs/problems in the ChatRelayBot forums. Please make sure that your bug reports are as specific as possible. The more details that are available, the more likely that your problem can be fixed. If you are reporting a crash bug, you MUST have a debug log leading up to the event of the crash; reports without a debug log may result in the author(s) of them being tarred, feathered, and stuffed into chicken suits. EMERGENCY UPDATE
Users of ChatRelayBot version 3.0 build 115 are advised to immediately upgrade to build 116 (http://3dhost.net/~crb/crb116.zip). This build resolves a serious crash bug in 115 that, once widely known, will leave your CRB at risk of exploitation. Specific information regarding the issue can be found at: http://3dhost.net/~crb/issue115.htm GhostsApr 30, 2004, 12:28am
I'm not sure if you thought of it before, but bots are the only other entity which can be represented by your citizen number concurrently while you're logged in. So your second case does not consider any existing bots the citizen may be running in that world.
Just a thought -- maybe you do know about it, but chose to leave it out of your report.
