lay off facter - at least he can actually be found on aw, unlike all those
other ppl who claim to be such good workers for aw... facter has helped me
with stuff even when he wasn't working... so sheesh, give him a break, he's

i think you need to realize the strength of programmers and their
abilites.....the closest i got to programming was using VB and with someone
else's BAS file.. so all i did was make interfaces pretty much heh... that
and irc scripting which i will laugh if you say is difficult.. i was there
for a month and become better then some of the ppl who spent ages there..
but you have to expect that from ppl who use dalnet, lol anywho..
programming would have to be hard as hell.. otherwise not only would they
not be paid well, there would be gobs of programs available.. so i'm gonna
acknowledge the greatness of all these programmers and their hard work, and
pay for what i use, and praise them for their strengths rather then beat
them for their weaknesses.. i don't think i person would want to become
better at what they do if they are constantly beaten for slight errors-if
you don't like something.. no one is forcing you to use it.. that's the
glory of it all.. you don't have to do it.. but yet you continue to come...
so that must say something not only about yourself, but the ppl who designed
the programs themselves.. thank you, that is all....

No, you'r not the only one who thinks this. It's just that those who =
feel like you have long ago stopped either reading or at the very least =
posting to this News Group. We have better things to do... Instead of =
whining all the time about the Software and what it 'isn't' we get on =
with using 'what it is'.=20
Want a game, go buy a game. ActiveWorlds isn't one. It's, as you =
pointed out (I believe it was you), it's a Chat Util. It's also a place =
where you can build something, as big (or little) as you want. This is =
what those who recognize what the Software really is are doing.=20
|
An example of what 'can' be done in Alpha can be found here:=20
http://objects.activeworlds.com/cgi-bin/teleport.cgi?aw_6505S_6556.80E =
(er... yep... another shameless plug for what I'm building, this time =
at Verge City :-) (can't fit any of the Beta features into my old =
location(s)))=20
WARNING - As with everything I build... IT'S MAXED OUT. Those with =
slow system may want to think twice before going there... BUT if you can =
handle it, give it a visit. Best viewed at 120 meters (altho' 50m is ok =
I guess). (If you'r on the Beta List even better...)=20
As anyone who does check this location out can see, I have better =
things to do then complain all the time about what the Software 'can't' =

wow goober... you had the time and energy to post what i think... I think
the reason a lot of ppl didn't stand up to eep is because he was
intimidating.. but i think all (or most) of us are tired of his shit.. I've
been reading these NGs for only a week or two, and I am already exhaustred
from frustration of reading his nonsensical ramblings... I think he's
probably chicken shit and feels he must bully in order to not be bullied,
i've seen this before.. he must have a low self esteem, inferiority complex
or something to feel the need to lash out at everyone for everything...
however this is false logic... If you want to be respected, then you should
respect.. but that's not what we're talking about.. we're talking about eep
and his inability to criticize constructively.. you don't have to be
negative to say something is not how it should be.. nor do you have to take
offense at every person who dares forget a period, or god forbid speak your
name.. or reply to a post to a specific person.. open your eyes eep, take a
look around, I'm amazed you act the way you do when you try to make yourself
look as though you've been around, and that you are so "superior" to
others.. if so, then you of all ppl should know how to get things done
right.. and how to treat people.. but you don't.. you've been sitting here
in the NG bashing everyone.. a lot of us try to help improve other users
experiences, but you make it very difficult, please take it easy eep, for
the good of everyone... just relax...

I don't recall ever blaming Facter for AWCI's problems (or the actions of
Rick and JP, in particular). I DO think that Facter is taking on the
"it's-not-my-fault" mentality of Rick and JP, however. He also skirts around
issues like them.

Dunno, are YOU thinking, Goober? Doesn't look like it considering the
newsgroups never went DOWN to the point of not being able to READ them; just
POSTING to them (and perhaps just "Community" since that's the only one I
tried at the time) was down. Since Facter seemingly disabled the ability to
POST to the newsgroups, he could have simply posted he was going to do this
instead of simply disabling posting and putting up a VERY vague system
status message on AW's website. The POINT I'm trying to make is
communication. Facter, like AWCI, fails to communicate things to its users.
Yes, it's gotten MARGINALLY better in recent months, but only through
CONTINUED persistance by disgruntled users/customers. What does this say
about AWCI? To me it shows they STILL don't know how to communicate with its
users/customers and are STILL incompetent in MANY areas (AW
development/direction, marketing, PR, etc, etc).

Um, but Facter IS involved in the process--ALL AWCI employees are and I WILL
spout off to them WHENEVER I god damn feel like it. Respect is earned, and
so far I don't feel AWCI has earned MY respect enough for me to give THEM
respect.
> Would you start bitching at Young Shamus if he suddenly found

Only if he played the same game Rick, JP, and now Facter do...but Shamus
doesn't seem like that...Roland doesn't either...to an extent, but their
INACTION makes them just as guilty as Rick and JP's actions. Shamus, Roland,
HamFon, Flagg, etc, etc, HAVE the power to speak up against Rick and JP, but
they don't seem to.

<shrug> I won't give up what I believe in...and I believe Rick and JP do NOT
deserve to be in charge of AW. They have CONTINUALLY proven over and over
and, yes, over again that they do NOT know how to deal with their customers
and the public/media relations, etc. They have played sneaky corporate games
that have been outlined on my AW history page
(http://tnlc.com/eep/aw/history.html) ever since they went public. They will
NEVER live this down while I am still around until the admit their mistakes
and change their ways--PERIOD. This is my mission in AW, as it stands
currently, and until things change I will NEVER let up. Think of me what you
will but if you do the research I believe you will understand and perhaps
even agree with me. The thing is most people don't really even CARE enough
about AW to see things from my perspective or even understand them if they
do. But that's fine...different people have different passions. Mine just
happens to be AW and a few other select things--they keep me distracted;
distractions are key to a healthy life, you know.

for some reason it seems to me that if you stuck eeps name in there, most of
that applies to him too..

First you say you don't LIKE censorship in ANY way, then you censor me. Then
you make an ultimatum of "either me or him". Is your self-esteem SO
pathetically low that you honestly have to act THIS pathetic in order to
make yourself feel bigger? Good god, Facter, take a look into the fucking
mirror already.

as much as I dislike eep, this is a difficult decision for me... on the one
hand. eep can occasionally bring up good points and topics of conversations,
yet on the other he is also harrassing, insulting, and even emotionally
hurts some people, I feel with eep the negative outways the positive,
generaly in such an open enviroment that is understandable even acceptable,
however when it eventually leads to people leaving the forum, and many great
oppinions and ideas are removed simply because one person harrasses them,
the whole concept loses it's sole purpose, and with this, I, J B E L L,
306161, almost regretfully vote to remove eep from the msg boards due to the
facts listed above, I feel it is the best for the NGs that this be done.

lol.. silly man.. free speach went out when govt. came in.. there are a lot
of laws against what you can and can't say-free speach basically states that
you can say what you will against your country or govornment.. politics and
news are basically free.. and you can say almost anything.. but there are a
lot of restrictions, and establishment has the right to create it's own
restrictions..
