ACDSee can be used to compress JPGs but be careful not to switch to
progressive compression.
Smothing before you compress can increase the compression ratio.

What (at least my version) of acdsee can not do is rescale them.

IE is not necessary for 98 but I read it was hard to install without
damaging the OS.
I did not try as I don't have 98 - but all german PC magazines reported
about that.
They also report about 3rd party uninstallers and uninstall hints, I'm
sure a search engine will find them.

p.s.:
If I am informed right M$ had a lot of trouble because of this :)

I found an old version of eep, it is a very old basic program.

To your prev. question : Not sure what basic dialect this is but I had
it running on a C64 long time ago, it is easy to adapt. It was not
exactly this version that I used, but reading through all these old 160k
disks - no way - I searched and found this version on the web.

There is not really a [bot] - the program seems to be a "remote control"
for the browser.
It looks for the window containing "Alphaworld", taks the crypted
password ("pass=") from aworld.ini and has several dialog handling
functions built-in although it doesn't contain any dialog.
Next what could have happened after starting it in Alphaworld (this part
is guessed) is that the crypted password is sent through the chat line.
It was just offered as a bot, hoping, that someone would start it.

I think the AWorld browser would be a great piece of software with a GUI
that only few could handle, it would freak out most tourists and refuse
to work for newbies. IMO our problem is that you can not imagine what
problems can encounter if someone is not familiar with his computer or
his OS - and (just my opinion too) AWorld is not a software that is
developed for computer professionals. You lost contact to the
low-knowledge users, they are not worth to mention for you. It is sure
not as extreme as I express it here, but I (too) often get this idea
when I read one of your replies.

be always welcome.

Most Juno people will learn netiquette as most other AW people did

You should check the current version of AccuTrans, it does not have this
problem, reinstallation does not cause trouble anymore after you
reformatted your HD.

umm - there were sure enough who were already stupid enough to try it
and I am one of them. You run into a wall, you keep walking (the
sequence isn't stopped) but don't change position (can be seen on a
structured ground object and the position display). The ground object
itself continues behind the invisible wall.

More challenging : Who knows how it looks from outside looking in? Is
the wall textured from behind? There is a way to find out ;)
