kellee! I wasn't aware you're still with Active Worlds. I haven't heard from
you in any news lately. I remember you were active in AWSchool and AWUniversity. Whatever happened to that? O_O What, you retired now? I wish I could be eligible for retirement, too. >:( lol Anyway, good to see you're still with us. ;) -- Respectfully Yours, Legion Chief Executive Officer and President of Operations Circle of Peace Inc. Could you elaborate for any of us who are clueless on what is that thing you
found, please? I don't know what that disk is for or who is that company. I only had came on computing relatively recently with notoriously bad Windows 3.1 in early or mid 90's and later got my first permanent internet service in 1998, the same year I got my first (and eventually only) Windows 95 computer (it was later replaced by my first Windows XP desktop computer in either 2001 or 2003 (couldn't remember, though) which is a quite a leap in terms of technology, indeed. There are Windows 98 (later superseded by 98 SE), ME, and 2000 between 95 and XP. O_O). I am not familar with this thing from 1993 since I either was relatively new computer user who hasn't gotten addicted quite yet or my family haven't gotten their first computer (the one with Windows 3.1) yet at that time. I don't remember when we got that computer but I think it may have been not long after we moved into our new home, probably around 1992 or so. That may not be correct year, though. Either way, that's quite early year for me to have possibly know this company. Either that or that company probably got bankrupt or acquired. So many companies in computing/software industries has vanished as result of bankruptacy or acquisition. Maxis (game), Bullfrog (game), the publisher of WordStar whose I have forgotten name of, et cetera are good examples of companies having vanished, although Maxis is hardly gone yet, just simply fading back somewhat. Long essay, you say? I can't help it. Just one of my worst persistent habits incredibly difficult to break. I guess that'll be part of my legacy long after I'm gone in future. Oh, well, what do I care? :P -- Respectfully Yours, Legion Chief Executive Officer and President of Operations Circle of Peace Inc. It looks alright because it's shot in its former SL incarnation instead of
its current incarnation. ;) On other hand, I intend to stay as a citizen of Active Worlds universe as long as I live and as long as I can manage to afford it before I either go bankrupt or x_x. :P I'm not really that impressed by SL after all. Even its greater-than-normal tolerance of adult content aren't that impressive to me either. Adult content make lousy architecture, too. ;) Anyway, I'm really content with Active Worlds after all and I'll be patiently waiting for Active Worlds 4.1... unless the SimCity 5 I'm still waiting for has been released around that time. If that's the case, I'll rather wait for AW 4.1 before I'm, uh, "exhausted" from playing SimCity 5. That doesn't mean I will cancel my citizenship in that circumstance either. ;) Either way, I'm not interested in that video since we've already seen Stagecoach Island with our own eyes... what else is new? Sure, you'll see yourself or your friends in it but that surely doesn't impress me either. :P In one-sentence summary: I'm not that impressed. :P -- Respectfully Yours, Legion Chief Executive Officer and President of Operations Circle of Peace Inc. Andras is definitely one of the most trustworthy and one of the best
candidate for AWI positions, in my opinion (if that were ever possible.. hmm..). He has a long history filled with his rather extensive good deeds. He is a highly respected and prominent citizen. He kind of remind me of the wise guys (get it, Goober? ;)). Anyway, now there may be a point at which Andras becomes an old man who gets a memory loss and becomes another entirely different personalities, perhaps with evil, destructive taste, that we couldn't trust him anymore. What do you think an old man's odd are if he were to be a leader of a nation and has a nuke as option? He'd definitely nuke (without knowing or even accidentally ;)). :P Sorry, that last paragraph was meant to be a joke. ;) -- Respectfully Yours, Legion Chief Executive Officer and President of Operations Circle of Peace Inc. He's asking for its progress on development and stuff like that, not
when it is ready for public release. Essentially, AWI kept themselves silent to large extent on 4.1 development instead of keeping us informed on how it is going. It's not like it's a highly anticipated game or whatever it is, so if they think they can achieve that effect, that will not help their marketing either. Their advertising effort is lacking, pathetic and it's outrageous that it have to depend on words of mouths to gain new customers. It effectively exploits our "communities" to do the work of advertising for them. They do not take any efforts as much as they needed (does some but need more than that). They are just being lazy on advertising efforts. To show you how much their lack of effort forces us to do something about it, SW City guys just recently started discussing about "viral marketing" or something like that. It's really sad that we have to make up for void that is the lack of advertising muscle of AWI. :/ [View Quote] -- Respectfully Yours, Legion Chief Executive Officer and President of Operations Circle of Peace Inc. >_< at this situation getting out of control.
Okay, boys and girls, stfu. I don't see the point of wanting to know when this version will be released. I'm more personally interested in what's going on behind the uber-secret laboratory's doors. Let me assure you that release date is not something need to be concerned so much about. What should we be concerned about is essentially the whole going-on in the form of a summary, or progress report, or whatever that is. I believe there are some examples that are left over at Activeworlds Inc. official website as among the ancient relics from the days when Roland Vilett was once the lead programmer back then in here. I discovered some pages via Google searching of the website that contains his progress reports on some versions, most likely 3.2 and 3.3 (not sure though). In the conclusion, withholding the information as to going on is a bad media handling and is ripe for a damage control disaster. Anyway, I'm gonna leave at this for the nightr. Good evenin', ladies and gentlemen. [View Quote] -- Respectfully Yours, Legion Chief Executive Officer and President of Operations Circle of Peace Inc. A new city-building simulator game following the SimCity's footsteps
called City Life is set to be released for U.S. and elsewhere (release dates differs all over the worlds.. please see the relevant information in the official website and elsewhere to learn more about it). Here is the link to the official website which also contains links to City Life demos (currently available in English, French, German, and some other languages I don't remember): http://www.citylife-game.com/ While it may not replace SimCity as the best city-building game, it's certainly a good addition to the city-building game collections like I do. ;) I don't intend to abandon the SimCity series in favor of it. I believe in the concept that all games have its own flaws, that it has strengthes and weaknesses over each other. ..........? Why does CY Awards Board of Commissioners (I like that sounds
better than Committee ;)) need to recircuits photographers?? Is there some kind of issues with this matters I'm missing? I'm saying this because Cy Awards already had been in existence for many years and there are abundance of photos from many of those years. This is simply because anyone, with a simple knowledge, can do Print Screen (with ALT if necessary anyway...) and do some editing and then post em' on their websites or whatever. I don't think Cy Awards even had their official photographers in past. I've had some hunch that many of the photos, if any, on the Cy Awards website from the past are not by official Cy Awards photographers, if any at all. Frankly, this sounds like Cy Awards are questioning the qualities of the community-produced photos. My impression is that Cy Awards are using application to review and pick (effectively sanctions as "official" or better than community-produced photos of the Cy Awards ceremonies) photographers. This is kind of breaking with the tradition if any at all. I have seen so many different photos from Cy Awards in the past floating around and they aren't even on Cy Awards website. >_> Correct me if I'm wrong on this matter. I'm just a old-fashioned citizen (typical of my conservative philosophies... >_>) and I see stamping the photos with "official" seals as putting the individually-produced photos to shame. :/ Blah, why do I even write this when I rarely goes to Cy Awards ceremonies because they bored me to death? I do understand the values and importance of Cy Awards that the Active Worlds communities holds dear to their hearts but I don't even feel it in my heart, either. Any awards are silly and pointless in my opinion. Erm, let's not talk about my opinion about awards in this thread (create new thread if you like.. if not, don't bring in this thread...)... I meant to express concerns about need to give some photographers a stamp of "official approval" while downplaying the values of individually-produced photos. That's just sad and pretty much contradictory to the values of individualism/communities....
