The CYs are in need of photographers to capture the magic of the awards
ceremony.
Several ppl will be posted in the Theater and Ballroom to take screen shots
of the festivites and all the excitement of the winners accepting their
award.

If you would like to be a part of the 2006 CY Awards team and help preserve
this occasion for prosperity plz gram me for the details.

..........? Why does CY Awards Board of Commissioners (I like that sounds
better than Committee ;)) need to recircuits photographers?? Is there
some kind of issues with this matters I'm missing?

I'm saying this because Cy Awards already had been in existence for many
years and there are abundance of photos from many of those years. This
is simply because anyone, with a simple knowledge, can do Print Screen
(with ALT if necessary anyway...) and do some editing and then post em'
on their websites or whatever. I don't think Cy Awards even had their
official photographers in past. I've had some hunch that many of the
photos, if any, on the Cy Awards website from the past are not by
official Cy Awards photographers, if any at all.

Frankly, this sounds like Cy Awards are questioning the qualities of the
community-produced photos. My impression is that Cy Awards are using
application to review and pick (effectively sanctions as "official" or
better than community-produced photos of the Cy Awards ceremonies)
photographers. This is kind of breaking with the tradition if any at
all. I have seen so many different photos from Cy Awards in the past
floating around and they aren't even on Cy Awards website. >_>

Correct me if I'm wrong on this matter. I'm just a old-fashioned citizen
(typical of my conservative philosophies... >_>) and I see stamping the
photos with "official" seals as putting the individually-produced photos
to shame. :/

Blah, why do I even write this when I rarely goes to Cy Awards
ceremonies because they bored me to death? I do understand the values
and importance of Cy Awards that the Active Worlds communities holds
dear to their hearts but I don't even feel it in my heart, either. Any
awards are silly and pointless in my opinion. Erm, let's not talk about
my opinion about awards in this thread (create new thread if you like..
if not, don't bring in this thread...)... I meant to express concerns
about need to give some photographers a stamp of "official approval"
while downplaying the values of individually-produced photos. That's
just sad and pretty much contradictory to the values of
individualism/communities....

I'm sorry.
You misunderstood something. I never said "official".

We do not have an "official" photographer. We just want to be sure that ALL
the important moments at the CYs are captured. That's why we want several
ppl stationed at specific areas to be sure of that.
If a Cit has some intersting screen shots we'll be more than happy to use
them.

Each year the CYs change. New builds. New colors. I'm sure there are some
fantastic pics of CYs past, but we really want pics of the 2006 CYs.
LOTS of new builds and totally redone in terms of colors.

OMG... reading this post drove me to near extinction.... but, after reading
it twice I did grasp the concept you were trying to convey.

Yes, there is no doubt many citizens that do visit the awards will take
screen shots... and it could be assumed that having sanctioned screenshots
could be a move to make the Cy's more like the Oscar's... but doing so does
not invalidate the citizens screen shots vs the... ahem... official screen
shots. The only thing that could invalidate them would be to prevent screen
shots altogether... like the Oscar's have banned camera's at the ceremonies.
The only way this could happen is if AWI sanctioned it with code, and even
then, there would be ways around it.

Don't have a heart attack over this... it's all cool :) I think she just
wants to cover all the angles... even the ones the cits might miss :)

whoa Back up the bus.

We're not trying to ban anyone's pics or stop anyone else from taking and
posting screenshots.

If you get an interesting shot of two avatars in a compromising position you
can sell it to the tabloids after the show. rofl

[View Quote] I don't even want to know what those compromising position are... ;) I
don't know of any tabloid magazines based in Active Worlds to sell
to.... I guess AWNews will have to do. Headline will read like this: "E
N Z O and JP: SCANDAL!" ;)

Anyway, I now understand and am satisfied with your explanation,
sir...err I mean ma'am. ;)

Now... as for explanation about why is Cy Awards's dressing room (if
there's any...) smelling like rotten tomatoes. >:)

Probably for the same reason the NG usually smell of sour grapes on the
topic of CYs.
