I was looking through some books in my 3D book library and came across a 5
1/4 inch disk I was looking for a decade ago. "Better late than never!" doesn't sound quite right in this instance. "Virtual Reality Creations" (c) 1993 The Waite Group. legionFeb 19, 2006, 1:33am
Could you elaborate for any of us who are clueless on what is that thing you
found, please? I don't know what that disk is for or who is that company. I only had came on computing relatively recently with notoriously bad Windows 3.1 in early or mid 90's and later got my first permanent internet service in 1998, the same year I got my first (and eventually only) Windows 95 computer (it was later replaced by my first Windows XP desktop computer in either 2001 or 2003 (couldn't remember, though) which is a quite a leap in terms of technology, indeed. There are Windows 98 (later superseded by 98 SE), ME, and 2000 between 95 and XP. O_O). I am not familar with this thing from 1993 since I either was relatively new computer user who hasn't gotten addicted quite yet or my family haven't gotten their first computer (the one with Windows 3.1) yet at that time. I don't remember when we got that computer but I think it may have been not long after we moved into our new home, probably around 1992 or so. That may not be correct year, though. Either way, that's quite early year for me to have possibly know this company. Either that or that company probably got bankrupt or acquired. So many companies in computing/software industries has vanished as result of bankruptacy or acquisition. Maxis (game), Bullfrog (game), the publisher of WordStar whose I have forgotten name of, et cetera are good examples of companies having vanished, although Maxis is hardly gone yet, just simply fading back somewhat. Long essay, you say? I can't help it. Just one of my worst persistent habits incredibly difficult to break. I guess that'll be part of my legacy long after I'm gone in future. Oh, well, what do I care? :P -- Respectfully Yours, Legion Chief Executive Officer and President of Operations Circle of Peace Inc. Was that a book with the diskette in it? I used to have a couple of older
diskettes with vr stuff on it and a few cd's with company programs... amazed at how far the genre has come since then. I think one of the programs I used to use was Veritas... or something like that. It was on Mac back then... Oh well. Glad you found that diskette... now it's just a matter of finding a 5 1/4" floppy drive to read it... maybe in an antique store? lol [View Quote] mrmehFeb 23, 2006, 9:49am

It's possible. No screenshot of the book itself so i can't say for sure.

Well, I could provide a screenshot IF you really wanted.... but... damn you
guys shouldn't have taken this seriously... I mean... a VR book that damn near 10 years old with a 5 1/4 inch disk.... you should have just chuckled for about 2 seconds and then let it pass. rofl. I mean...the ironey is that I searched for what seemed forever for the book during its time... didn't find it... then found it 10 years later when a) the VR technology was out of date.. and b) when the media was out of date as well.... I doubt I could find a drive to read the disk these days if my life depended on it... :P~~~ [View Quote] tart sugarFeb 26, 2006, 11:12am
I got it.
I chuckled. I moved on. I finally found the 8-track tape I lost under my couch 20 years ago. Dust bunnies had grabbed it. [View Quote] talisanFeb 26, 2006, 1:39pm

Then you'd wake up to a very warm cartridge. o_O Here's yer original post. hehehe I was looking through some books in my 3D book library and came across a 5 1/4 inch disk I was looking for a decade ago. plus, anyway, with stoning, atleast you don't get to the point of so
drunk(well, stoned :) ) you wake up the next day with no idea how you got into that strange room, unable to find your new sweater, missing your cell phone, and finding out you asked some girl to marry you. :) More control most of the time atleast. -SWE [View Quote] talisanMar 3, 2006, 10:34pm
