Rossyboy is correct. The Activeworlds Inc. is totally separate from that of
Activeworlds Corporation. Activeworlds Corporation was totally a empty
nutshell after its only subsidary, Activeworlds Inc., which operates all of
the business associated with Active Worlds and related was sold to Rick Noll
and JP McCormick. So therefore, the article mentioned above was referring to
Activeworlds Corporation which is still a corporation while Activeworlds
Inc. is a privately-owned business today. In conclusion, there are two
things to conclude: first, Activeworlds Corporation has signed a letter of
intent to merge with that particular company mentioned in that article
above. Second, do your own research before you make post (and, eventually,
judgement) like this.

Um, it was the shareholder who WANTED the Activeworlds Corporation to sell
off their Active Worlds business to Rick Noll and JP McCormick simply
because they didn't think Active Worlds business is good for making money.
So it's pretty much that the shareholders are far more GREEDY than Rick and
JP, thus prompting them to sell off Activeworlds business off and forget
about it because it doesn't just make lot of money. It's good thing Active
Worlds are back in Rick and JP's hand since Rick has been in AW since 1995
and JP in 1998 and they knew exactly how much Active Worlds has to offer
whereas shareholders has no clue what the hell Active Worlds is. In other
word, it's back in hands of our folks. Besides, wasn't the shareholder the
reason Maxis, the maker of SimCity and The Sims games, sold to Electronic
Arts simply because they were good business but failing because of bad
managment pressured by shareholders to make more money which resulted in
productions of various games that failed to generate significant profits and
et cetera. See http://www.gamespot.com/features/maxis/index.html for more
information about Maxis history. Shareholders are the worst ones in the
company. ;)

Events confirmed so far....

Sep 23, 2004, 10:57pm
1.) Alphaworld object path closed to public.

2.) Alphaworld's new objects removed.

3.) Alphaworld Games Bots removed.

4.) Alphaworld went down for brief time.

5.) Customs Aide vanished for a few hours.

6.) Price hikes back in 2002 (Worlds and Citizens)

7.) AWSales world vandalized.

8.) Various worlds either abandoned or dead.

9.) Lack of business contracts lately.

10.) Ejection by Customs Aide of the folks mentioning certain urls of the
AW's competitors.

11.) Allegations of Gatekeeper abuse scandal (Actually I wasn't able to
strongly confirm it but it appeared more and more abuses were alleged.
Again, I wasn't able to confirm it).

12.) M A T T situation

13.) Decline of various community organizations such as Alphaworld
Historical Society (An impression made on myself after my request for
OneSummer to keep me informed of AWHS goings-on have resulted in no updates,
from her anyway) and others. Universal Town Network closed up. Active Worlds
Community Register (AWComReg) and Active Worlds Info Square (AWInfo) closed
up.

14.) Certain major towns and villages such as Pink Village no longer
operates after their long-time existance.

15.) Beta newsgroup closed to public reading, thereby cutting off access to
beta information. http://www.activeworlds.com/help/aw40/ cutting off access
to beta information. All attempts to stonewall attempts to gain information
about next version was made.

16.) Numbers of worlds/users is indeterminate in terms of its decline or
growth (recovery). Various conflicting accounts suggests growth (recovery)
or decline.

17.) Numbers of well-known worlds such as Discover by Hal 9000 and Varnia by
Lord Chadd and others are no longer existed.

18.) Partnership between Activeworlds Inc. (then as part of Activeworlds
Corporation) and Juno failed to generate significant revenues (among the
strong factors in failing to generate interests among Juno users are lack of
powerful features that came too late and et cetera). Caligari Corporation no
longer has a valid partnership with Activeworlds Inc., as the Activeworlds
Inc. is still offering Truespace 4 on its website, whereas Caligari
Corporation is currently offering Truespace 6. Criterion Software Limited
(CSL) did not mention any partnership with Activeworlds Inc. on its partners
page.

That's all I can think of. Mr. President, you may take opportunities to
provide any rebuttal for it, or even better, to offer an explanation for
latest events. Besides, press releases on the website of Activeworlds Inc.
has been outdated and no September newsletter has been released. We would
like an explanation. I do not want to get in trouble with Activeworlds Inc.
as Eep did but rather to ask for explanation and to show a growing concerns
for our beloved Active Worlds universe. Let's have all reasons.

For Kellie Williams

Sep 29, 2004, 11:47am
I'm disappointed with AWI's decision to fire Kellie Williams (Mountain Myst)
but at least we have to face the hard reality.

The hard reality, of course, is this: don't expect Rick or JP to respond to
this thread, protests, or petition. As far as I'm concerned, none of the
businesses ever does responds to its customers when it comes to them
complaining about a firing of a particular employee who has established a
strong relationship with the customers. The history will show that. The
decision made by a business regarding its employee are pretty much
(apparently) off-limits for customers. I can't really recall any events
where customers actually did successfully get a previously-fired employee
rehired.

Customers may be able to get companies to change its policies (AWI's
policies in communicating with its customers for better is an example of
this), but they may not be able to get them to reverse their decisions about
its employee. Sadly enough, that was exactly what happened when Ron Britvich
(Protagonist) was sacked for some reason and the customer's attempts to get
him rehired had proved to be a speculatur (sp?) failure. I'm particularly
concerned about this one. I'm hoping it will work but in the end, don't
expect Rick or JP to respond to this one, as they did not respond to the
protests against Ron Britvich's firing back in few years ago.

Regardless, I'm signing my name on petition.

Alphaworld Wishlist Thread

Sep 28, 2004, 10:46pm
I am announcing a new thread dedicated to Alphaworld wishlist to help keep
most of them in one place so AWI and others can read. The purpose of this
thread are in many areas, including, but not limited to, suggestions about
what objects need to be added to Alphaworld object libraries in giving the
folks who wishes to create objects to donate to Alphaworld an idea what to
add, what features need to be enabled (such as raising cell data limits,
etc.), organizing certain events, etc. It's all about doing things. Now, of
course, the discussion about other AWI public building worlds are permitted
as well here. This is simply a thread designed to give AWI and other folks
an idea what our folks wanted. I'm sure AWI and other folks would be happy
to hear your suggestions. Of course, I know there are other threads made to
discuss a specific aspect of the Alphaworld and other public building world
(raising cell data limit for example), but it's simply better to do it in
same thread instead of requiring AWI to have to read through everything. Any
discussion of features to be added to Active Worlds browser in this thread
is strictly prohibited, as it is to be discussed in wishlist thread only
while this thread is strictly focused on public building worlds here. This
is generally an exchange of ideas about what to do and what is needed in
public building worlds, so don't abuse it.

Here are my wishes for Alphaworld:

01.) Raising cell data limit.

02.) More variety of highway and road objects, preferably objects for 6-lane
freeways.

03.) We, the Townbuilder, are in the needs of certain objects necessary (or
more useful) to community development, such as stoplight objects, parking
meters, etc.

04.) Certain vehicle objects... especially presidential limousine and police
cars/motorcycles :P Just want to build a presidential motorcade. ;)

Oh and busses too, for our bus system.

Oh, once again, and I probably could use that 32dodge.rwx from The13th world
=P

05.) Certain avatars converted into a model for use in buildings. Especially
Aaron, as I'm in need for business folks in my downtown. Perhaps a Rick Noll
avatar should do it? :P

06.) Now, we've gotten new 3d trees, we are still in need of green hedge
objects and certain bushes and other landscaping objects. In need for more
landscaping terrain objects as well.

07.) O_o Where the heck is radio objects? o_O

08.) In need of better roman-style objects such as columns and et cetera.

09.) In need for pp01n_h.rwx/pp01n.rwx height of curved panel objects, as
well huge width for the same objects. Also in needs of curved roof objects.

10.) Hmm, we are in great deal of needs of updates to certain categories of
objects including, but not limited to, food/beverage objects, as our
agricultural output is having hard time keeping up with the rapidly-growing
demands for food. :P Hmm! *reminds himself to amend the economic report to
includes agricultural industries :P)

11.) We are in need of certain new panel objects with texture tag applied on
its backside to enable applying different textures on its particular
backside, thereby creating realistic concept of different textures for
exterior and interior. You can't have same textures on both sides of panels,
can you? For instance, it's bad enough that you have pp09.rwx with stone9
textures also on interior side. Nobody likes to live inside a room made of
stone unless they are Gothic or whatever the heck they are.

12.) More coming soon as I can think up. =P

Now, who is next to make the recommendation? =P

http://host.activeworlds.com/3DWebHome/gallery-pink/Textures/marble1.JPG

This is a texture that I would wish for Alphaworld since that stone8 texture
look a bit crappy in my city hall or, at least in the future, a gallery.
SW'ian-speaking, this texture above is uber-perfect for my city hall and/or
future gallery. Unfortunately, it doesn't do well on pictwlk objects, unless
my screen on my monitor that blocks out glare made it really crappy. But I
don't know really. If there's an Alphaworld texture already with the same
name of the above-mentioned texture, then rename it or something. It would
do nice look for floors in my buildings. It also might do good for walls. :)

And even if you try to build close enough to GZ, you will still get error
because there's restricted building radius around it. So it's pretty much
the past that remains there within that limits (except for MINOR updates to

Is it just me or did the move command using 9999 for wait and 0.001 for time
caused a gap to appear between street1.rwx and street3.rwx (with street1.rwx
on upper tip of the street3.rwx)? I'm noticing lots of gaps with these

Firstly, I don't see anything on Outlook Express that enables downloading
ALL messages before reading them. I was forced to download and read each
messages individually. I doubt all other programs have these options. Think
before you reply, eh?

Secondly, I do not *care*. I do not have website to host images for it so I
cannot post here if I can't host my images. I doubt many free website
providers would allow hostings for images IF it is not for webpage. I do not
*care* either that you have programs other than Outlook Express because I
will only accept Outlook Express comptability and cable internet rather than
those idiots using other than Outlook Express for newsgroup *and* using
anything *slower* than cable. My posts are designed for cable and outlook
express users *only*. Capiche?

Thirdly, I believe Anduin is targeting at me. Besides, wasn't that the same
guy who ran USWF or something? I can't remember the name of network but I
did flamed that guy several years. So I guess he still has grudge against

recall which one is that. My apologies to him if that's not the one I have

This is my last post on this topic and I will not respond to anyone on this

So, what you are saying is that floating point errors are cause of most
of the problems including, but not limited to, inability to physically move
your own avatars in straight line AND developing gaps and seams in the
objects?

Interesting... I didn't think physical movement of the avatars and
objects have the same roots. I mean I would think mathematical equation for
avatars and objects are totally separate unless.... you actually mean the
programmers made the floating point errors all over the program, not just in
coding for objects but also avatars and etc.

Sounds like you're saying the programmers did crappy mathematical
equations all the time, not just in same area of the program. So it's
actually widespread.

I'm sorry I don't know much about programming but I just wanted to make
it a bit clear for me. I am a bit crappy on technical terms. ;)

Any towns still alive?

Oct 3, 2004, 3:54am
Since MASSIVE post-price-hikes abandonments, many towns died out and so that
pretty much left the whole grounds to few superpowers and certain small
towns that are still running. Among them are:

SW City
R-Town
Phin County (although a bit quiet due to hicks8 being heck of busy for some
reason)
Hamsterville

Any other towns I've forgotten to mention?

The point is, many towns we've known for long time is now dead. Especially:

Pink Point Village, which has been in existance for long time until it
suddenly collapsed for some reason at some point in 2002 or two.

Goobertown (Somehow Goober failed to keep it running even if he ended the
operation of UTN (Universal Town Network). That reminds me... any news on
UTN deals, C P?)

Betaville by John Viper (Not sure if it closed down in post-price-hike era)

and many other prominent towns. :/
