During the speech (if there was ever one) by President Enzo at AW Festival
2004, he perhaps can talk about his vision of what AW should be and have in next 10 years. The vision of next 10 years would be good to have. It's almost like 10-year plan by a government (just comparing). However, it doesn't have to be specific about what should be added or something like that but more general about future. Perhaps vision will have several themes? Worldbuilders, townbuilders, bot developers, gamers, builders (home, business, etc not towns or worlds), and other major interest groups will definitely be interested in President's vision for next 10 years. What do you say we hear your vision at the Active Worlds' 10th birthday celebration, Mr. President? -- Legion Chairman of Rockford Township, Phin County, Alphaworld An idea about AW celebrating 10th anniversary...Sep 12, 2004, 12:16am

But even with bankruptry, I would bet the all rights to software such as
uniserver, browser, etc. and other assets would be sold to the highest bidder. But regardless, I doubts the company would get bankrupt anyway. It just take a patience for Active Worlds to get better. Besides, next version of Active Worlds is starting to sound good. But so far I haven't successfuly "discovers" the actual help pages for AW 4.0 so unfortunately we will have to wait to see what is offered in next version for us and we still don't know if it is 4.0 although our sources strongly suggests the 4.0 as next version. Also I've discovered that after entering http://www.activeworlds.com/help/aw40/aw40.html in the address returns error but if you types the part of that previously visited address, it will automatically complete the address (normally if you get a "page doesn't exist" error, it won't do that but this is an exception, oddly enough) so that suggests the that 4.0 is possibly the next version. I've already tried http://www.activeworlds.com/help/aw40/ and it returns directory denied error which, in effect, strengthen my suspicons that 4.0 is the next version. I've also tried http://www.activeworlds.com/help/aw40/beta.html but it failed to do what any of above urls did, which suggests that it is still in alpha testing stages. However, I can't confirm all of this so don't take it as confirmed information. -- Legion Chairman of Rockford Township, Phin County, Alphaworld [View Quote] An idea about AW celebrating 10th anniversary...Sep 17, 2004, 11:40am
Very strange bug..Sep 13, 2004, 1:42am
I thought there are ceiling that you couldn't move objects beyond? Just like
when you try to reach the higher than allowed with your avatar or even to the farther than edges of the world (hint: try moving beyond 32750m for a few minutes and you'll come to sudden stop after that). -- Legion Chairman of Rockford Township, Phin County, Alphaworld [View Quote] Very strange bug..Sep 13, 2004, 1:44am
CORRECTIONS: It should be 32,750 cells (since cells are 10 meters x 10
meters) instead of 32,750 meters (Good god, imagine that!). -- Legion Chairman of Rockford Township, Phin County, Alphaworld [View Quote] New ObjectsSep 12, 2004, 2:03am

Correct me if I'm mistaken but isn't Alphaworld registry larger than
AWTeen's? -- Legion Chairman of Rockford Township, Phin County, Alphaworld [View Quote] New ObjectsSep 13, 2004, 4:51am
Such as---? All of the AWI worlds are still intact, such as The13th (The
13th Floor), Centro (Centropolis), Nettaxi, COFMeta (Metatropolis), ABC (Simple Geometry), and other countless worlds. I don't recall where a world simply vanishes with its objects. NewAW, maybe, but it's still closed, so doesn't mean it's gone either, just merely a testing ground (at least according to what I'm hearing from certain AWI officials in their posting in newsgroup). So far, all worlds owned by AWI since 1999 has remained in existence. Of course, that brings up another question: If objects are to be transferred from another world to Alphaworld, then it may need polishing to keep it up to date with latest version, since many worlds' object path are pretty much full of outdated objects (perhaps exception for Mars but that's only for new object added to it, not the old objects fixed up). Anyway, I think that's all I can think of! LOL I'm just tired and having a hard time sleeping. =P -- Legion Chairman of Rockford Township, Phin County, Alphaworld [View Quote] New ObjectsSep 13, 2004, 5:48am

And now I would like Activeworlds Inc. to include some objects from
Megapath, especially from Roman theme, which has several paintings and other fine arts such as vases and also the furniture that I would like to see in Alphaworld. I like to have a fine arts collection in my home in Alphaworld. :D -- Legion Chairman of Rockford Township, Phin County, Alphaworld [View Quote] New ObjectsSep 15, 2004, 8:06pm
Now I changed mind. I want pretty much almost everything in Roman theme in
Alphaworld. Make me want to have classical architecture along with fine arts and also landscaping. Ok I admit I'm inflating my wishlists lol. Roman Theme has what I like about: Fine Arts (Painting, Vases, et cetera) Furnitures (fancy ;D) Landscaping objects such as bushes and flowers. Classical architecture. Etc. It can't hurt to have a few objects from these collections, eh? Hey, President Enzo (probably won't read this section anyway but hey let's just give it a try, eh?) Objects without privileges of world owners.... can't hurt business, since most people like to own worlds and therefore their desires to own a world cannot be deterred by object additions to the Alphaworld library. World owning has addition That's the good reasoning, Mr. President. :) -- Legion Chairman of Rockford Township, Phin County, Alphaworld [View Quote] New ObjectsSep 15, 2004, 8:22pm
That would have equated that with involuntary manslaughter.
-- Legion Chairman of Rockford Township, Phin County, Alphaworld [View Quote] New ObjectsSep 15, 2004, 8:59pm
How about Activeworlds Inc. adopt a cost-cutting measure? Have many useless
worlds such as X-Files1, X-Files2, Godzilla, and others shut down and transfers most of usable objects from those worlds over to Alphaworld. That way, you can cut costs and also gains many customers. I doubt many contracts such as ones with Sony Corporation (for The13th), Centropolis (The13th, Godzilla, and other worlds), and others are still in effect so I would bet Activeworlds Inc. are free to do anything with these worlds. In other words, the contracts probably expired so what's the use for these useless world that eats up cashes in Activeworlds Inc.'s funds. It costs to power them, costs per bandwidth, etc. But it shouldn't applies to public building worlds, just to world where nobody visits for a long time and that it is outdated in which it couldn't work well in new versions. Why do you think Activeworlds Inc. still have three AW 3.1 test worlds running? It's pointless. Apparently, Activeworlds Inc. has wasted so much money on maintaining outdated, useless worlds. By useless, I also mean that it's not open to public buildings either. So.... what do you say, Mr. President? -- Legion Chairman of Rockford Township, Phin County, Alphaworld [View Quote] |
