Transparency Problems in DirectX Mode

Nov 21, 2001, 4:34pm
It's always done this on my computer, since 3.0. I'm not sure if it was
meant to happen but maybe it's so you can see the text if someone's behind a
glass wall or something.

Mipmaps, Use them or Loose them!

Nov 21, 2001, 8:05pm
I've always used mipmaps :) I think they make things look a lot better and
smoother.

LoL because for some reason henrikg got the post before it was actually
displayed on the server and posted his reply before it was displayed?
That's what I think.

is anyone ealse having V scan problems?

Nov 22, 2001, 1:15am
Could be a virus that it can't detect.. the virus could be creating a lot of
junk files. Or you can just reformat/repartition your hard drive and put
windows back in (not recommended)

He's right.. you can't get a virus this way.. only by running files or
someone has complete root access.

Unless you're running a server of any kind you cannot be hacked from a
normal computer.. unless your computer is unpatched and only a very dumb
person would keep it so :). You cannot be attacked from netbus, or
something similar.. viruses cannot be planted from a TCP port.. that would
just be a stupid thing to allow since you have a lot of them. My computer
is invisible to the net.. except for the fact that I run a webserver..
that's the only thing people can detect. And for someone else to get access
to your computer to upload a virus.. you would need to run a trojan/backdoor
program to allow them to do so. There's no other way to do it.. that is
unless you know the complete windows source code and know how MS gets those
hidden files from your hard drive ;).

You can't do that unless your have run a file previously which gives them
access.. or they have FTP/Telnet access.. just won't work through windows.

LoL Outlook express doesn't until you click the post itself ;) It took me
quite a while to download even on my high speed connection.

--Bowen--

Coca-Cola

Nov 28, 2001, 6:15pm
I did, it won't show the size if there's something attached.. only once you
click on it and it downloads. OE is Microsoft evil anyways ;). (ME =
Microsoft Evil or Migrane Edition) LoL

LoL why does everyone assume that it's hidden? I'm not computer illiterate
like 90% of the people who use them are :) It's not that it won't it's that
it doesn't until I click on it.. which I'm sure is a bug with windowsME..
I'm not going to upgrade or change the operating system because let's face
it.. XP is one of the worse operating system in existance.. not that it
doesn't do it's job it's what they've done with it to stop "casual" copying.
(If you want to defend Microsoft go for it.. I'm pro Linux anyways)

--Bowen--

Coca-Cola

Nov 28, 2001, 7:59pm
LoL it's ok.. it's just funny sometimes when you say it then you read
someone further down later on that posted the exact same thing. It's just a
OE bug for WinME.. netscape doesn't have the problem.. it even shows that it
has an attachment before you click it! LoL MS just stinks beyond belief..
I'm going to advise everyone now to not get XP or anyother windows OS down
the line.. go to linux.. if you want AW too get Wine :)
http://www.winehq.com . It's fairly easy to set up if your linux is up to
date.

e-mail forwarder

Nov 29, 2001, 7:28pm
With free e-mails you always get spam. Hotmail especially.. that includes
porn spam. The only way around it with hotmail is to put all your contacts
in your address book and say.. I only want them to e-mail me.. it should
send the rest to junk mail and that's deleted weekly. Hope that helps.. you
could always sign up for a freeservers.com domain name and have it forward
e-mail for you :)

--Bowen--

this is driveing me nutz

Nov 29, 2001, 7:24pm
Your hard drive could have a lot of bad sectors. If this is the case it
might solve both problems if you buy a new Hard drive and install it in
place of the old one. Was there a power outage in your area before all
these problems happened?

--Bowen--

Another IE problem. lol.

Nov 29, 2001, 8:45pm
LoL I can tell you how to downgrade if you want to know.. but yeah XP is
something that is going to cause a lot of problems.. the person who made the
site has a lot of control over what the site does now with the new web
system Microsoft is doing.. including active X controls which could be
really deadly ;). Give me a buzz if you have an older windows CD and I can
tell you how to remove XP.

--Bowen--

Another IE problem. lol.

Nov 29, 2001, 9:24pm
Well you can't really downgrade with IE :\ I'd say go with netscape. Maybe
load a registry from yesterday.

--Bowen--

I'm bored

Nov 30, 2001, 4:32pm
LoL it all depends on the aspect of what you're looking at.. in order for
our species to survive.. we both need each other to pass on genes and to
mate.. in any other form.. either could be true ;)

--Bowen--

I'm bored

Nov 30, 2001, 6:37pm
LoL the gene pool would become shallower.. enhanced intelligence is also
only carried on the Y chromosome ;). Hence why we'll get an Einstein every
once in a while.. Stephean Hawking, etc sooo that would bring scientific
breakthroughs to a screeeeeatching hault. Y is really a genetic mutation
but it's for the better.. the majority of woman don't have the "balls" to
fight battles either.. so what happens in wars? *yes women do dispute with
each other.. if not more then guys do* plus you'd end up with a lot more
birth defects in the female babies since you don't have the Genes that guys
have *like non-helophila X chromosomes* It'd be worse off for them to do
that since guys are just mutated females LoL sucks to be us. Sorry I'm
bored too *had genetics today*

--Bowen--

I'm bored

Dec 1, 2001, 1:34am
Not really part of a battle.. just to keep weak prisioners that were
mistreated and practically dead in line. I'm talking full out wars LoL.

3.2 impressions on the avvys

Dec 3, 2001, 1:11am
It's not a system crash it was a corrupt file that was in the path. From
what I heard it's an MP3 that kept doing it (happened to me 5 times) when I
visited.

question

Dec 10, 2001, 7:29pm
There's no reason it shouldn't. XP wouldn't be the best choice for it
though. Especially if you're on Windows98SE.

Stick with Windows 98.. there's no logical reason to upgrade (or is it
really downgrading?). Your computer will come to a crawl with XP.

cable modem

Dec 13, 2001, 6:17pm
They had to pay for access to. They have to pay a phone company or other
for the OC lines for your area now.. but they limit bandwidth so they can
make a profit. Cable lines can get up to 10 mbps if you let them maybe even
higher.

Dec 16, 2001, 10:20pm
LoL You still need a modem to use the Coax line.. unless there's some sort
of way I can plug that into my cat5 hole ;) might be a tight fit though.
