Outcoding.. woo.

That's all well and good, but how about you make one thread pertaining
to your bot and respond there. As opposed to the 30 that you created before. If anyone was really interested in it, they'd read the thread -- no need to spam the newsgroups with your bot news. (unless it's months between updates, then it may be okay) That's my NNTP peeve for your HTML-in-NNTP peeve. Eclipse BETA Build 95 (RC)Aug 17, 2004, 5:38pm

> I am very sorry my last post over a month ago, which will have been
> disgarded by most OE newsreaders now on default settings upsets you Bowen... > (No, honestly, I am! lol) However personally I only see 6 threads? Yes, in sucssesion too. It's too bad constructs such as sarcasm and exageration are completely lost on you. If only I knew what disgarded meant; but in the case you meant disregarded (or discarded), you shouldn't expect people to be using your newsreader, or your settings. Hey, you don't like HTML, I don't like constant posts about a simliar topic. The very same reason why I'm not all too favorable with Hu I'm just trying to save myself from seeing another 5 threads pertaining to the same topic just to address bug-fixes. I'm sure it doesn't matter to you. spiderNov 5, 2004, 5:22pm

Think outside the box John. Sometimes you have to implement your own
code to check if something is doable. http://activeworlds.com/sdk/aw_world_list.htm AW_WORLDSTATUS_PRIVATE in particular Now, if it's private, you can check if it's not private then enter it. On to the next part of the code. http://activeworlds.com/sdk/AW_EVENT_WORLD_ATTRIBUTES.htm AW_WORLD_BOTS_RIGHT Now check if * is the bot rights to the world. If it is, go ahead. There is a better way of doing this. Having the server contact the world and gathering the info (I think Xelag metioned this). spiderNov 6, 2004, 1:12am

Then it all comes down to using an account that isn't the universe
caretaker. Easy to do. And to keep from trying every world, you would still need to check if it's private or not. I would think it would be easiest to just write a server function to this though. Then you can query information from closed worlds. *nixNov 14, 2004, 3:28pm

"gcc file.c" will give you the default a.out file.
I think gcc -o client file.c is how you change it, you then, of course, would ./client to run the bot. *nixNov 14, 2004, 3:51pm

I think they need to be in /usr/lib then all you'd need to do is go gcc
-o client -law_sdk source.c I'm not sure if it works the same on BSD, which seems to be what you're using. Protecting ChildrenApr 4, 2003, 12:49am

You have to reset the newsgroup and make sure you download all headers. So, pretty
much just reset. --Bowen-- Beam CommandOct 27, 2001, 11:11pm
Yeah this does seem like a neat idea.. :) Though, this is likely to be
flammed by IA. --Bowen-- [View Quote] Linux VersionOct 29, 2001, 6:22pm
A linux version of AW would be great.. WINE'ing a program has some
disadvantages compared to something written specifically for Linux. I'm sure I'm not the only one out there. Anyways that's my wish :) --Bowen-- Linux VersionOct 30, 2001, 6:17pm
LoL that's true, even 3.1 beats having XP on your system.. so many security
risks to it. Linux works on Mac! Better hardware compatibility too, since everything used by the new macOSX has to be unix compatible (OSX is a unix based OS) :) I don't think it's going to be made though, Roland uses Windows based functions with AW. --Bowen-- [View Quote] Linux VersionOct 31, 2001, 9:06pm
RWX is fine, it's one of the easiest, non bloated 3d object scripts to get
into. TS takes a lot of time to render since they contain a lot of non-essential polygons, same with 3ds max, and lightwave. Since it has to be done in real time.. the smaller and the simpler the better. That's why a lot of worlds are laggy.. they contain TS's objects (unless they're not good with RWX, not that all TS objects get this bad). --Bowen-- [View Quote] Linux VersionOct 31, 2001, 9:20pm
Yeah I forgot RW dropped RWX a while back. If AW made their own.. they'd be
spending about 2 years in development so that'd not be worth it.. although it might be faster in some areas. --Bowen-- [View Quote] This would help dialup users!Oct 29, 2001, 9:39pm
That would be a cool feature :) I think in 2.2 you could do that, I know
one of them you could. --Bowen-- [View Quote] This would help dialup users!Oct 29, 2001, 9:49pm
This would help dialup users!Oct 29, 2001, 9:58pm
LoL yeah I'm doing some work tonight so I've got not a lot better to do :).
Maybe some sort of marker system where you set it off with 4 objects like posts? --Bowen-- [View Quote] With the linux client +Nov 1, 2001, 11:31pm
A linux GUI based server instead of the text based on that you need the
Windows administrator to add worlds.. have a linux one where you can add worlds yourself. It would be a great addition. --Bowen-- Chatlog ProgramNov 5, 2001, 1:19am
Chatlog ProgramNov 5, 2001, 4:57pm
OK then, let me tell you that AW MAKES CHAT LOGS. Sorry but I can't handle
people that tell me I'm stupid then don't realize that you can do it with a click of a few buttons. And you can stop it very easily when you're done. That is why I didn't understand why you'd need another program to do it for you. --Bowen-- [View Quote] Chatlog ProgramNov 5, 2001, 7:34pm
Then use a bot, simple as that.. there's no need for another program to be
written when a bot can do it. Xelagot for example, they can make chatlogs. --Bowen-- [View Quote] Chatlog ProgramNov 6, 2001, 3:32pm
Maybe one of the great bot writers could throw something together like that.
With some extra features. --Bowen-- [View Quote] Chatlog ProgramNov 6, 2001, 3:53pm
world server fixNov 6, 2001, 7:55pm
If it's really a problem I can host your world for you, if that's all you
need. I see you're having lots of problems :) --Bowen-- [View Quote] world server fixNov 6, 2001, 8:01pm
LoL that would be a nice feature, I'd hate it if someone came in and started
messing with my stuff.. well if you do want me to host it just give me a buzz.. it's no problem for me. --Bowen-- [View Quote] password protect the world server plzNov 13, 2001, 5:07pm
But as soon as the person who wants to use the computer starts it back up,
the worlds would restart.. if it runs like that. --Bowen-- [View Quote] some cool info for next updateNov 27, 2001, 5:37pm
Well considering it's not a game.. some people just log off if they're going
away for an extended time. But if someone thinks it's rude that someone doesn't respond to a telegram right off, that's their problem.. not everyone has the time to spend responding to people every second ;). People should be aware of that. But it would be a nice feature to have.. the AFK icon :). --Bowen-- some cool info for next updateNov 27, 2001, 6:00pm
There's some people who would take his name while he was afk knowing some of
the wackos in AW. Just to get him mad. --Bowen-- some cool info for next updateDec 4, 2001, 11:35pm
Some of the companies in Europe charge by the MB. It's not a problem here
in the US unless you have a commercial OC line in which case it's by the gigabyte I think. --Bowen-- [View Quote] |
