Exactly...that's the issue: communication or in AWC's case, lack thereof. Roland's TechTalks are meaningless without the support of the people who actually give approval for ANYTHING discussed in them. And that, unfortunately, is sleezy used car salesman JP and wanna-be cyberpunk Ricky. Until one or both of these peons actually confronts the community publically, and stops playing games with us and avoiding us, they'll continue to get bashed and rumors spread. It's called public relations, Rick and JP; learn how to fucking DO it already, ya freakin' newbie suit gits...
[View Quote] > Should've replied with my feelings about their reply earlier... Goober pretty much summed everything up, but I'd like to add a little. > > I think it'd be great if (even one of the) AWC management people held something like Roland's TechTalk every week. Something like bi-weekly would probably be great as well. Citizens could come and talk to/at them and see what exactly is going on. Participating in the "community" like this is something that everybody would benefit from. Citizens would have a better grasp of *why* some decisions were made, and hopefully AWC would ask our opinion of things they're thinking about. > > If this is impossible, at least set up a group of citizens that could "advise" AWC on certain issues. It'd have to be a very diverse group (maybe even with regular elections...) in order to represent the user base, but it could work. Disappointment... [last long one, I promise!]Aug 1, 2001, 8:57pm
Oh, THAT? I thought that was some silly newsgroup survivor thing so I didn't even bother with it...

Um, personal email to the community my ASS, Fac. Flagg simply passed it on instead of Rick himself emailing and posting his response. As usual, Rick dodged things and leaves one of his peon employees to take the fall for him.

Exactly. Fac's still a wittle newbie, Kah--you'll have to forgive his ignorance...

Yo, newbie twit, learn how to keep the OLD subject in the subject header after you change it.

Yea, Rick isn't even in charge of AW's development anymore really according to Roland, who claims JP's been the one making AW's design decisions for the past year or so...so it seems JP "owns" Rick.

Exactly! I simply don't trust Fac.

Too bad the stockholders have no power, according to Delaware corporation law (of which AWC is incorporated under...or at least was before the name change--perhaps AWC is no longer incorporated since "Inc." isn't in its name now, but since it's still a corporation the law probably still applies).

Yea, really. It's obvious AWC does NOT know how to do PR (that's public relations in case you didn't get it, Fac).

If my blank screen saver comes on and AW is loaded, when it goes off AW will have all kinds of tiny multi-colored dots on everything inside the 3D pane.

How much memory does it have? OS? Yes, it's definitely a vid RAM bug, but a bug nonetheless. AW should simply remove the beginning textures from RAM if the vid card RAM can't hold them all, leaving the textureless object there instead of mapping another texture over it. THE WIERDEST BUG EVER!Aug 5, 2001, 5:59pm
No, the multicolored dots (random) appear on ALL textures and they're much more spaced out.

This has been wanted for YEARS (in addition to contact list invisibility) so I believe it should be one of, if not THE, FIRST objective the CU takes to get AWC to implement into AW. It's just ridiculous how many spammers and people can abuse telegrams and just be annoying PESTS that I'm surprised AWC hasn't implemented these things SOONER.
[CU] Response to Citizens Union ProposalAug 8, 2001, 5:47pm
Simple zip encryption would suffice. However, it's where the zip password is transferred where the security issue is...perhaps in the citizens settings in a separate "avatar/object password" field similar to the privilege password field...
[View Quote] > Another way to help prevent theft is to put all of the files that need to be cached into one large file. Or, better yet, report it to his ISP and email provider's abuse email address. His ISP is bellatlantic.net and his email is with Yahoo.

[View Quote] > So did that world really have 14000 users or not? > [View Quote] It works : )))Aug 13, 2001, 12:53am
Perhaps it needs to use DirectSound then since AW is most likely hogging the sound and Windows is too stupid to play sounds in multiple non-DirectSound apps...
[View Quote] > It works beautifully but you have to turn off all sounds in AW.. well at > least i did : ))) I dont care.. I dont need midis or sounds.. I love > this It works : )))Aug 13, 2001, 5:12am
Why would I despise Creative Labs? I used to own one before this Diamond crap, but it supports both Aureal3D and EAX. However, my next sound card will probably be a Soundblaster since Aureal is defunct. At any rate, all full-duplex allows is recording AND playback simultaneously; Windows still requires DirectSound apps to play sounds from multiple apps, which is why AW can be running and Media Player 6.4+ can play WAVs, but if you try to play a WAV in Sound Recorder, GoldWave, or Cool Edit, it doesn't work because AW is hogging the wave device and those apps aren't DirectSound capable. Why Windows doesn't just use DirectSound by default for ALL apps instead of that useless MCI is beyond me...
