THE WIERDEST BUG EVER! (Community)
THE WIERDEST BUG EVER! // Communitythe derekAug 5, 2001, 3:12pm
i've known of 2 bugs for a long time but have
never been able to get the second one to happen when im TRYING to do it.... oh well here they are: 1) if your screen shuts of because of a power saving feature and you turn it back on aw will lock up after it says logging in when you try to run it SOLUTION: change the settings for your screen size then change it back 2) now im not sure but i think this has to do with aw running for a long period of time. what happens is the textures and text and pictures from other objects "cross over" and it looks REALLY weird. bouncing doesn't work and the first time it happened i went crazy cause i thought aw had broke lol. but now i've caught a picture of it. the link is below - you've got to look at it its the freakiest thing ever lol. SOLUTION: reboot what really causes these to happen? both are very annoying when they happen the link to the freakiest bug ever: http://bots.mailoto.com/images/thebug.jpg wingAug 5, 2001, 3:26pm

Using a GeForce II MX 32mb and a Crystalvision/PiXie 19" monitor running at 1280x1024 res I can't reproduce it. This is true for
both straight into power saving or screensaver into powersaving. I'm waking via mouse, not keyboard. > 2) now im not sure but i think this has to do with > aw running for a long period of time. what happens > is the textures and text and pictures from other > objects "cross over" and it looks REALLY weird. > bouncing doesn't work and the first time it > happened i went crazy cause i thought aw had broke > lol. but now i've caught a picture of it. the link > is below - you've got to look at it its the > freakiest thing ever lol. > SOLUTION: reboot This most definitely has somthing to do with your video memory being full. The same situation sometimes causes the AW viewport to appear on your taskbar buttons, etc. It has nothing little to do with how long AW has been on, and more with how many textures you're seeing, their sizes, and how much video RAM the rest of your computer is sucking. What video card do you use? How much memory does it have? OS? eepAug 5, 2001, 3:51pm

If my blank screen saver comes on and AW is loaded, when it goes off AW will have all kinds of tiny multi-colored dots on everything inside the 3D pane.

How much memory does it have? OS? Yes, it's definitely a vid RAM bug, but a bug nonetheless. AW should simply remove the beginning textures from RAM if the vid card RAM can't hold them all, leaving the textureless object there instead of mapping another texture over it. the derekAug 5, 2001, 3:55pm
yeah thats happened too i found 3 more pics from
thelast time this happened (i blotted out cht above avatars cause i didnt turn it off at thetime) http://bots.mailoto.com/images/bugpic1.jpg http://bots.mailoto.com/images/bugpic2.jpg http://bots.mailoto.com/images/bugpic3.jpg <--is this what happens eep? [View Quote] mike zimmerAug 5, 2001, 5:29pm
Whoa, I think its time for someone to get a new video card and a RAM
upgrade. I have a Nivida TNT2 with 128 megs of RAM on Windows 98 SE and I have really had really no problems with AW. [View Quote] eepAug 5, 2001, 5:59pm
No, the multicolored dots (random) appear on ALL textures and they're much more spaced out.

TNT2 128mb's? Heh, 128mb video cards cost upwards of $2000 and don't come in TNT2's. Don't confuse system and video RAM.

Mike,

Dream on :) And I only have a Voodoo 3 with 8mb's, lmao. I don't get so many problems, but a bounce usually fixes any problems... -- ,,,,, (o o) --ooO-(_)-Ooo--- ___|___|___|___|_ _|___|___|___|___ ___| Andy |___|_ _|___|___|___|___ ___|___|___|___|_ --ooO-----Ooo--- --==[(/ ÅñÐûïÑ LøTHåRïø \)]==-- http://www.anduin-lothario.com --==[(/ ÅñÐûïÑ LøTHåRïø \)]==-- the derekAug 5, 2001, 7:56pm

*shrug* Old school tech specs. RAM and video never go together like that :)

Not on a TNT2 you don't have 64MB vid RAM...

I uhmm......only have 2MB Vid RAM.....heh...and 192MB of system
RAM.....I have had that situation happen to me in the past (the last pic) but it hasn't happened in months. When it did happen, it wasn't just a few objects textures......it was the whole world....I thought I had crossed over into 'The Matrix' or something :-) Muggie GET PAID TO BE ONLINE!
