next year, nor any referrals from other tourists from registering. They =

Thanks for looking into this, Mountain Myst and Facter. In the threads
related to this subject, a lot was said. Some people argued that stating
that you are gay or asking if gays are allowed had explicit sexual content
and should be forbidden. I argued against that. Could AWCI state their
opinion on this issue? I think it is important for all of us, not only for
the Gatekeeprs.

On the xelagot scripts page, I now included a section (at the bottom) with
downloadable zipped examples (with html help) of how to tackle the xelagot
scripting. At present, I include only two examples for Chat: one is VERY
simple, good for beginners. The second one is complex... I will add some
intermediate steps too. These are not really full tutorials, one must learn
to use the online help files, but I hope this will help people to make their
own scripts.

fatts, the colour scheme is not too difficult to implement: rrggbb, that is
2 places for red, 2 for green and 2 for the blue component of the colour.
Each place can have one of these values: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, a, b,
c, d, e, f. Zero is the lowest, f is the highest. For pure white, use
ffffff. As red and green make yellow when used in lights (the tv screen is
'light'), to have a yellowish tint take away some blue. Try first fffff0,
then ffffe0, ffffd0 and so on until you approximate what you want. When you
lower the intensity of all colours, you get a darker colour: in that way you
can make your yellow darker, for example: e0e070. leaving more red than
green turns towards orange, more green than red goes lime colour. Notice
also that the world lights affect the rendering of your colours: use a white
directional and ambient light to judge the 'true' colour of your object,
then test it with the lights you are going to use.

Another thing that helps me out of the colour confusion is to use only
certain values for each colour component (red, green or blue):
(no colour) 00, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, (half intensity) 80, 90, a0, b0,
c0, d0, e0, f0, ff (full colour). So my yellows would be:
ffffa0, f0f0a0, e0e090 and so on... it helps to simplify, you can use
intermediate values for final adjustments.

When the first 3.0 browsers appeared, I noticed a difference in the colour
of certain Mars objects. Especially the tram series seemed different: trama,
tramb, which I use a lot. Their greenish colour was gone. Mars objects are
now free for all to use, so I disected the trama.rwx and found this:
color 0.593750 0.500000 0.406250
more red than green. Translated into a create color code, this gives:
create color 988068
I decided to swap the red and the green components
create color 809868
and to my surprise, I got the colour I remembered in the tram series.

My question is: where the tram objects changed when we upgraded to 3.0... ?
I hate the brownish colour of the tram objects, and would like to see the
tram series as it was before, it combined superbly with some mars colours,
for example, with the pane series.... Or was it my monitor colour scheme,
as Roland suggested at the time?

The xelagot paintball script has a bug in the event handler for the avatar
click event. To correct it, copy paste the code below to replace the
*whole* event handler in the script. The bug is not really in the script
but in the scripting engine, the code below will fix it through the script.

A bug in event handlers, causing GOTO's to fail on certain occasions, has
been fixed. This bug caused problems in the Paintball and a few other
standard scripts.

The new X1 2.9999976, Av99bot 2.976 and SrvcXlgBot 2.976 have this fix. It
is recommended to upgrade if you use or make scripts.

I f these are xelagot bots, could you be more specific? How did you
ascertain that they were doing this? Xelagots do *NOT* issue hundreds of
AW_OBJECT_CHANGE per second, as far as my knowledge of xelagots go (and I
think I know quite a bit about them). That would be ineffective, and
probably disconnect the bot inmediately, moreover, the scripting engine
would not allow this. This seems to have nothing to do with the bug your
are talking about, but I'm curious to know how you came to this
conclusion...

The phantom avatars is an old problem. When dealing with making bots, I
found that the world server (*not* the universe server in this case, wich is
responsible for session numbers), messes up. This can be seen in bot
interfaces and in AW browsers. Ghosts are common in bot interfaces. When a
disconnect happens, but the world server itself did not detect it, the
session number of the ghost remains valid. When a reconnect happens,
usually the ghosts remain a few seconds, then the world server removes them
and sends a message to the bots and bvrowsers to remove them too. It is
sometimes quite idiotic: my bot Delph gets a wfs, when he reconnects, he
greets Delph who is still there (but with a lower session number) :)
Usually, the old spook disappears after a few seconds. In some cases, it
remains in browsers and bots alike forever, the only way to get rid of it is
by moving to a different place and coming back.

I consider that newsgroups should be open for weak and strong, knowledgeable
and less knowledgeable, English speaking or foreign. Exactly for that
reason, to protect this freedom of speach, there are some minumum

And a community has a sense of decency, whether it has a rating, a charter
or none. This newsgroup is rated 'all ages', it does not have a large X at
the door. Not only 'all ages', but 'all people', which means one should
respect others. For sure, from time to time discrepancies and fights will
emerge, like in any community. But this is no place for constantly bashing
people, insulting them, ordering them about as if one were G'd Allmighty,
consistently using foul and deprecatory language. I understand that AWCOM
has no obligation to stop this sort of attitude in here, and possibly also
lacks the means to do so. So for my part, I muted the guy... which won't
stop him. Unfortunately, a few people here actively help this guy to
continue insulting the community, so called because of his input. It is
very difficult to know what to do as an individual in this sort of case but,
frankly, I've had enough (for the second time, the first time I stopped
visiting the newsgroups for a few months).

I often ignore trash addressed to me in the newsgroup... It is difficult not
to react to trash addressed to newbies or to people asking for help, because
there is an innocent party involved, and they don't deserve the treatment
they get. That's one of the tactics of trolls: attack the innocent,
ignorant or weak, or people in need of help.

Organisation is spelled with an "s" in British English (which used to be
*the* standard before the US adopted its own spelling and filled the world
with it). Not all english speaking people have adopted US spelling, luckily
:)

Both realize and realise are allowed in british english, I spell it with an
"s". It's difficult to tell, you just learn the spelling and (try to) use
it. US english tends to use the "z" much more often in these cases :)

I don't always agree with you Nornny, but this time I do :) This whole
'War of the Hosters' is not worth the celulloid! Why can't people start
their own business without attacking and beeing attacked? This war rages on
stolen <table>...</table> issues, one Euro more or less (or should I say
Dollar more or less), my **** (fill in the stars with appropriate nouns) is
bigger than yours! We all deserve a chance, so give each other that much :)
I'm not of the Peace ad Love generation, but give a break LOL... lets not
all troll on each other :)~~~~~~~~~~
