X2RWX version 2.4 is available!
X2RWX converts X files to RWX and SEQ. I made this converter to use with 3D Canvas some months ago, and I've added more functions to it. 3D Canvas LT/ free users can export their objects in X format, load them in X2RWX and convert them to RWX objects. Limitations: Because of the lack of Frame (Clump) names in the standard 3D Canvas export, avatars do not get tagged, this has to be done manually, but the hierarchy is preserved. SEQ files can not be made properly either for the same reason. 3D Canvas PRO users can use a script that exports to X format preserving the Frame (Clump) names. If those are correctly set, X2RWX tags the avatar automatically. 3D Canvas PRO users can also convert the animations to SEQ format with X2RWX. Studio MAX or other programs exporting 3DS files can do the same as 3D Canvas PRO users: objects, avatars and animations can be converted to RWX and SEQ. So 3D Canvas PRO and Studio MAX users! Start making SEQ animations :) Downloads at http://www.imatowns.com/xelagot/links.html Read the x2rwx.txt file for details. XelaG new citizenshipJan 8, 2002, 5:27pm
Casay,
at last some one who points to the BIG mistake of a few years ago: dropping the plans to embed the AW technology into web pages. In my opinion , one of the biggest causes of AW's failure in implementing advertising and 3D-commerce and getting revenue from it is the isolation of a standalone browser. In spite of the slow down of the last 2 years in this internet area, this is the way to go. Companies as Macromedia, Viewpoint and Adobe have jumped on the wagon. Adapting their technology to web pages (and keeping both developments synchronised, AW browser and web plugin) would have been excellent. A simplified AW browser, with no building but with more interacive features in web pages; keeping their eyes open, being sensitive to demand and not to their own dreamy thoughts would have helped them a lot. Now that the axe is falling, I think that they might want to reconsider this; instead, they chose the worst path they could chose: (i) they ban tourists, their future citizens, and potential custommers of world owners and of AWCOM (ii) they make citizenship so expensive that many of their current citizens (artists, creators, botmakers, world owners, businesses who rely on people comming in and coming back in, and just users/custommers) will be forced to leave. Not to mention the panic, disappointment and revolt this is causing... I wish AWCOM would listen and use their brains. XelaG an AW citizen who has spent most of his 3 years in AW creating bots and other ammenities for AW and its citizens and tourists, for free, with a lot of dedication and love, paying for his citizenship and world to be able to test his products. And for whom doomsday seems near: I can't afford the new prices... and my contribution to AW will suffer from it, I'm afraid. Brant,
I really don't understand what you are talking about. I'm a 53 year old male living on an invalidity pension for almost 20 years in Europe. I don't have a buck to spare. I have given 3 years of my life dedicated to enhance this environment with all what I have. I won't be able to pay what is asked. Unless I get a generous sponsor, me and my bots will have to leave. I have seen one mismanagement fiasco after the other. The golden years of internet are gone, AW profited of them but did not learn. The water fawcet is closing, and WE must now pay as a last resort. In June, July and September, AW's income mainly from the sale of universes has gone down by, yes, 73%... This points to a big big flaw in AW's economical management. Maybe universes are overpriced, and do not provide enough gaurantee of continuity for potential buyers, maybe the service AW provides is not as expected by custommers. For example, you buy a universe. You have the right to get free upgrades the first year, after that you are on your own... but you are not: universe licences are time locked, so you have to go back to AW for renewal, which theoretically is free as long as you don't upgrade, but the universe licence states: "TERMINATION. AWCORP may, at its sole discretion, terminate this Agreement, the license granted herein, and your right to use or access the Software at any time. On termination, you must destroy all copies of the Software. Termination may occur without warning if the Software is used in activities considered illegal in the state of Massachusetts, USA." This is of course a normal statement, but when the licence code you get is 'time locked", even if the web advertisement says: "All Uniserver prices are a one-time fee. Software upgrades are free for the first year and then 40% of the purchase price after the first year." this doesn't give any potential buyer any security they will be able to continue their business. Combined with prices which are getting out of range, and disilusioned universe-owners who don't see the benefit claims suggested by AW or dreamt by themselves come true, at this time of economical crisis it is no wonder that sales plummetted. A review of their sales policy, and maybe a reconsideration to re-invest in an internet pluggin (following Macromedia, Viewpoint, Adobe, whom they should have beaten before they even started) would be more sensible. How can you advertise a standalone browser? You can, for an enhanced chat environment, but not for much else. The browser has very limited capabilities: no interaction with the environment: other applications, conversing with web pages (unless they are in the built in browser), no gaming abilities... It remains an excellent enhanced chat and 3D environment. Upping our contribution by almost 600%; banning potential citizens... and not to forget maybe the only source of revenue for people who invested in AWCOM (think of the worlds in AW owned by foreign nationalities, think of AWTeen!)... this does not seem to me to compensate for what should be done to return to a healthy financial policy. In fact, to me it looks more like lemming policy. The only thing I personally think would help is if they listened to various parties: 1. our community (as far as universe policy and 3D chat environment is concerned) 2. the market, for what is really needed by busineses, and not merely dream a dream and hope it will come true. 3. the programming team should be just that: a programming team. The policy makers should make policy, sound policy.. This includes doctoring the finances and keeping custommers happy, and it also includes telling the programming team what they expect should be programmed according to the policy. 4. we are the only custommers at present: universe buyers rely on US too. If they don't get what they expect, they won't buy or renew universes. There could be many more end-custommers (for example, internet web users if web browser pluggins were developped), this would attract business... but at the end of the day, it is WE, as small consumers, who determine what we buy or not. I love AW, I have been fascinated and still am by this community. If it was in my power to work miracles, I would. Unfortunately, it is up to AWCOM to do that, I wish them a lot of sensible thought and good decision-making (not luck, the've had a lot of that already, luck came and left). I hope we all get out of this mess and can say next new year: Happy New Year, AWCOM! A correction on my previous post:
I have just received confirmation from universe/galaxy owner(s) that AWCOM assures continuity of use of the universe server, even in the case they would go bankrupt (which is not the case at present), and that AWCOM does not interfere with the pricing structure of other universes/galaxies. A simple array is not that simple :) I would have to make arrays for
all types of variables, and in your example, you use a 2d array... even more complicated. String lists are not ideal, I agree, but I don't have the time at present to tackle the array thingy. For one thing, Justin, my bot is freeware. Your way of questioning and

A tip,
if you convert walks, they will probably not work, as AW has changed the system. You can make the text version of the walk work by manually tweaking the file: in the pelvis section, put the last number to zero, this is the Z direction. Do this only if the walk is failing (older lifeforms walks). Have a look in Xelagon: the tourist male av does a few seqs both in ols format and in text format (some are test seqs). Also the walk is a text walk (with the trick I just mentioned). avatar Rick has qdance4 in text format, all converted with SeqFileViewer. I'm off to France for 2 weeks, enjoy :) XelaG [View Quote] >x2rwx (converts 3ds and x animations to SEQ) and seqfileviewer (loads >binary SEQ files) can now save SEQ files in the new Hamfon text mode. > >http://www.imatowns.com/xelagot/links.html > >XelaG binary to text SEQ convertersJul 2, 2002, 7:38pm

Dear Xelagot users,
As stated on my pages, bug reports (and suggestions) about Xelagots are to be sent to my email address xelag at 3dee.nl Most people do that correctly, but some insist in following their own ideas about how this should be done, even up to the point of writing to me saying "Would it really have killed you to answer my questions in the newsgroup so everyone would know where things are at?". It is my privilege to decide on these matters. I have a certain degree of tolerance for newbies and jounger people, who do not yet know their way around, but very little tolerance otherwise. Every bug report or suggestion makes me spend time, sometimes a considerable amount, to handle it. I do this without charging expenses, but only according to my own terms. I also expect politeness from users, even if I do not garantee a successful handeling of all matters. But I do try to solve bugs and other problems according to my capacity. And I do *not* enter into long discussions about why I chose to receive reports only by email. I hope this makes these matters clear to all. URGENT REQUEST TO UPGRADE XELAGOTS
A new version of Xelagot 3.309 fixes a bug I discovered today in the property query code: if the bot's Object cache was used for querying (surveying) property, old deleted objects would sometimes reappear in the surveys and in backups. Due to this bug, some scripts could fail to work at random moments. This is a serious bug, so please upgrade! The functions affected are: * verbal command queries * all surveys made by querying with the Survey Manager if the cache was used * action script surveys with "QueryAt at a" that do not specify "QueryUseCache OFF" * action script "ProjectBackup" as from Xelagot version 3.3 (before then, this function did not use the cache). This includes the world backup scripts distributed with X1 (they are safe to use after upgrading) Not affected are: * backups/propdumps made with the Survey Manager's "Backup" tool using the iteration method * "ProjectBackup" scripts used before Xelagots version 3.3 Note that this bug does not make you lose objects, but it will add unnecesary objects and may cause the Object Inspector to squeak. The web pages still mention the old version at the time of writing this, but the downloadable files are the new version.
