Anything you create is pretty much under copyright. Don't need to be a business or big corporation to do that.
-Agent1 [View Quote] Copyright questionJul 26, 2001, 8:40pm
Actually, I'm almost certain that they're not automatically trademarked... Trademarks *have* to be registered, I think.
-Agent1 [View Quote] Copyright questionJul 27, 2001, 2:11pm
Never heard of there being two "types" of trademark. Something either is or isn't a trademark. A trademark is only for things like names, though, so they have to be registered.
-Agent1 [View Quote] Copyright questionJul 27, 2001, 3:57pm
Ahh... anyone can use T (TM) or (SM), but (R) can only be used if the mark is registered... got that straight now.
Anyone else that wants to learn about Patents and Trademarks can look at http://www.uspto.gov/ -Agent1 [View Quote] WinXP meets AWAug 1, 2001, 12:35pm

Don't know if any of you read slashdot, but apparently you can run http://$IP$//scripts/root.exe?some-commandline-command ... apparently root.exe is just cmd.exe.
-Agent1 [View Quote] Security (was Re: My World)Aug 7, 2001, 4:05pm
Simply telling people what you're offering to host on is not going to make you vulnerable. If you keep your OS and software updated you usually won't have a problem. Also, how does giving out specifics like bandwidth, processor speed, memory, etc. affect whether or not one can break in to your machine?
-Agent1 [View Quote] Re: Security (was Re: My World)Aug 8, 2001, 11:39am
So if someone doesn't agree with you, you label them "unintelligent"? Whatever...

If he did that, the name field would show "ianzeri". The newsserver shows *all* names in lowercase.

Likely "Keyboarding/Word Processing"... Probably just fooling around with something like MS Word :)
-Agent1 [View Quote] Back up 'n' runningAug 18, 2001, 2:28am
From what I've heard, Win2K (and NT in general) are more stable and just "better" than the whole line of 9x OSes for many things. What do you mean by "cant do things like windows 98 can"?
-Agent1 [View Quote] Back up 'n' runningAug 18, 2001, 10:42pm
Then don't insult something next time without knowing what the hell you're talking about :)
-Agent1 [View Quote] Posting to BetaAug 20, 2001, 9:46pm
In case you don't remember from the last beta (or weren't on it), here's what to do if you can't post to beta:
1. Change your login password in AW 2. Change the password used to connect to the newsreader to the same password 3. Connect 4. Change password back (if desired) in both AW and newsreader Congratulations, you can now post to beta (if you're on the list)! :) -Agent1 Yet another closed betaAug 21, 2001, 1:47am
You're right, I should have included my tech specs as it could be a hardware-related issue. I'll reply to my post with them tomorrow
morning. -Agent1 [View Quote] Yet another closed betaAug 21, 2001, 1:56am
If I find something wrong with the beta of 3.2, I'll report it. What sort of spin would you rather I put on it? Add insults that
simply dilute the information given in the report? Simply because I chose not to call someone a "fucking idiot" (or something similar) in every post I make about a bug does not make me any less of a tester. What do you mean by "he doesn't disagree with anyone"? I'm not going to say I like something if I don't simply because it came from AW. You must have been under a rock while I was defending you to Facter publicly when he wanted to ban you. Perhaps this is related to me not giving you a copy of the beta executables, etc. when you asked me for them... -Agent1 [View Quote] Another QuestionAug 25, 2001, 7:54pm
An OS can't be written in VB; it requires Windows to run. Unless it can boot the computer without command.com, it's not a separate OS but only a shell used for DOS/Windows.

Well, if all it did was execute a program to popup a message warning the administrator, I doubt it could be called intrusive.
-Agent1 [View Quote] TestSep 11, 2001, 10:35am
I don't know... Either AW's news servers or Outlook Express are weird and put threads that start with exactly the same name together...

Surely you're talking about one of your parents; YOU couldn't possibly handle running anything by yourself.

-Agent1 QuestionOct 8, 2001, 11:59am
Don't get me started on the DMCA :) Anyway, they could just get the person on breach of contract (yes, your license agreement is a contract). This is one of the reasons I don't like the DMCA... don't need it :) Good thing it's not law in Canada (yet...).
-Agent1 [View Quote] Smart TagsOct 10, 2001, 7:07pm
Uhh... adding links to an HTML page isn't censorship. That said, I still don't like the idea of Smart Tags. I'm also fairly certain that Microsoft removed them from (at least the beta of) XP.
-Agent1 [View Quote] Smart TagsOct 11, 2001, 11:23am
By adding links to other pages. It is not changing the content in any way. Think of it like this - Would you call it censorship if they had a little list pop up with sites related to keywords on the page? Where did you find your information? The part about it changing even existing links seems a little bit ... well, wrong, to me.
