I do not think having a cracked universe makes anyone evil. Some people
might use those for testing their objects or bot in.
To me it also sounded that you was trying to get one, so if you had recived
it; according to youself, would you have become evil then ?
I do not actually see the harm with cracked universes as long as they are
kept private, it is not taking away anything from AW. I am quite sure that
these same people who has these not legal universes still have their worlds
and citz in AW ( or other universes).

I guess the same thing with some cracked softwares. For example, if a
software cost 2000$, there is no way I could afford it, so if I use a
cracked software, the company will not get a penny, if I cannot afford to
buy it, they will not get a penny; so logically no difference. Then if a
software cost 20$ I can afford it, so if I used a crack for that they would
loose money. No I do not expect everyone to understand this logic lol

Nope! If you steal a BMW it will be away from someone, if you crack a
software you cannot afford it will not remove the software from the owner eg
the owner will not even know you have cracked, but if you take car car, he
mosy certainly will.
The big difference is, in cracking a software you could not afford anyhow,
nobody loose anything, but taking someones car, the owner will not have to
buy a new.

Yes, I am not saying that we should use pirated software, neither that I do
not respect programmers. I just think it is insane that some softwares cost
thousands of dollars, and especially if you do not plan using it, more than
for testing a few time, one would need to be filthy rich to buy it.

The day one start to use a software for making profit, I think one should
pay for it. For example if I had Max and started to sell the objects made
with it.

I rather also support small comapnies. I just a few days ago bought
Milkshape , it was resonable priced 25$.
The day I buy Max for 3000$? is when I have won on lottery or start to sell
stuff I have made with it.

Many freeware products are very good also, like Irfanwiev, so sometimes one
wonder how can it be free and some other , not even so good viewers be
worse.

well, I am a supporter of different licenses for different users.
Example users who only use it for own amusment should have a cheaper
license than those making stuff with it for sale

20 000 is much for a car, my car costed 300$ about and has worked ok LOL

What comes to MP3s in general, I think it is idiotical that one could not
share them over internet, mostly for 2 reasons:
I have found some music in mp3 format that is simply not aviable anywhere on
CDs, also some soundeffects, jokes etc.
Secondly mp3s has never made me buy less music, on the contrary I have
bought more CDs thanks to mp3s. If I find a nice mp3 of some artist I have
never heard of and I like it, I try to get the CD also.

I also think the music industry make enough money as it is. One of the
richest people is some Michael Jackson. Should I feel sorry if a
multimillionair will miss a few cents on royalties, because some ghetto kid
downloads his mp3 for free? Just guess...

Did he not also buy the rights to some Beatles music?
Yes I gladly support poor artists. I find it very hard to pass a musician in
the street withouth putting a few coins in his hat. I am not sure tho if I
feel to support some artists like Bruce, Elton or Michael just to mention a
few. It is not that I would not think they have made a great job, I just
simply think they have enough money. Nobody needs 3? castles in UK, when at
the same time some people in the world has to live with 1$/day or less.

I just wonder what the heck AWI has to do with some copyright issues, unless
they have been the creators off the avatars in questions.
But you are right, AWI always start by threating with banning; nothing like,
we would like to ask you about a thing, or a thing has been brought to our
attension that we would like to discuss; nope, they just threat to ban you.
The fact that they might accuse you of something that is not even illegal
or even recomended by themselves do not change anything. And last, dont ever
expect them to apologize for calling you a criminal.

I have sometimes been wondering about the copyrights. As far as I know one
can for example quote even long parts from a book as long as you tell the
source. You can put pictures of famous paintings in your book. I do not see
why one could not "quote" a few models out of a large collections as long as
one did tell the source and did not use it to make profit.
Point is, i do not understand why 3d art would be so more special than 2d
art or books.

Well, if you do what you are doing by first accusing then starting to look
for evidence, I simply think you do it in the wrong order. Usually one first
get evidence then report it to apropiate authorities.
I do not quite see how trying to locate mp3s is helping AW tho either.

It is nothing personal against you, I guess I have just had enough of all
kind of wannabe cops in my life. I usually suggest to people like that ,
that they start by cleaning their own closet.

I guess it is no crime to snoop around, but if someone started to watch and
monitor you 24/7, write down all you say, go through your garabage, and
maybe even start to assume what you think. I am quite sure that you sooner
or later would start to find it inconvinient. And all they might do is just
check that you are not doing anything illegal.

If you want to help AW, I suggest you try to get people to join, instead of
pissing them off. Start making objects or textures. Help out in AWNewbie,
rent a server and start hosting etc

The passwords for the OP is not cracked by cracking the zip file, but by
somehow getting the info out of AW-browser.
It is more like up to AWI to make the browser safer, but as we know ,
someone will always be able to crack it.

One can question, is it really worth all the trouble. It is like stealing
Mona Lisa, you could never display it or if you did, everyone would know it
is not yours.
I think people take this AW too serious. If you are going to get rich on 3d
models, you have to try Hollywood, or atleast have a much bigger audience
than the few crazy worldowners in AW.

I belive this place ( community) is the right place to inform of what is

Of course uf anyone post in the wrong category, it is normal to get flamed,
but people from Spiral Matrix should not be bashed because they are from SM,
but simple because of off-topic post. One could compare it to if a negro
walks towards red light; one cannot yell at him because he is black, but
simply because he is doing a wrong thing.

I have also been informed that when you buy a galaxy/universe, it do not
include a citizenship in AW. Demand one! Since NG support is included; how
the heck do one post here without a citizenship?

I think support include much more than just raw technical questions. I am
not pro spam, but if someone is asking for support, in a form of
participation in an event, it should not be forbidden; especailly in the
general.discussion.

The fact that AW states that NG supposrt is included in purchase of universe
should mean AWI gives a citizenship to whomever buy an universe or a galaxy.
I do not see anything bad with someone informing about ones universe or some
big event there, it will of course get irritating if it becomes spamming or
posting in wrong news groups.

I am not so sure about that. I belive it is not wrong to inform about events
in places using the activeworlds software. It would be different to post
about adobe, icq or balxxuun event in the community; in the general

I did not actually see them trying to sell anything. AW is also a commercial
product, so I guess we cannot tell about events withing AW universe either
then?
Can one just not ignore posts one is not interested in? The header told
what it was about, so should not have been such a big surprise.

Many times I see ppl telling about events that I am not interested in, I
simply choose not go. It is not like anyone is forcing you to go. I doubt
Imagine tried to rip you away from AWTeen (?) and force you to go to SM, not

No, same product. One line in an ini file do not make it a totally different
product. You would not even need to download a new browser you could simply
edit the ini file if that made you feel better. I know Calpantera tried to

but even suggested by AWI themselves on their help pages.

This was posted in a SM related forum tho. I consider this to be a
AW,DLP,OW,CNW etc related forum; as long as someone use the activeworlds
software.

Maybe you KAH just should stop reading the news , if one post piss you off
this much. A normal person would have seen in the header that this is about
SM, and if not interested simple ignored it. Nevertheless, although you knew
what was in it, you had to read it, and not even stop there, but start to
whine about it. I bet you have spent much more time whining about it that it
took to read it.
For your own good I hope you will never start to read any busy newsgroup, if
you have to analyze ever single post and compare all to your sense of right
or wrong. I can imagine KAH "reading" the nesgroup
alt.binaries.pictures.autos; someone post a picture of a Velorex, and KAH
has to start analyze that although it is 4 wheeled, it was registered as a

Here Mr Mulder brags about beeing in a gorean world ( adult rated), calling
them weird, lieing about his age , then beeing upset about getting ejected .
Nobody can ban you from the NGs, but some employee of AWI.
What I always find funny is the " freedom of speach card" . It is ALWAYS
valid when you say something bad, but when someone else that you do not like
says someting, it is immoral, unjustified etc..
Maybe the goreans just used their freedom of speach to scare you ? *g*

Not sure if "shit" is a "bad word" or not, I guess it depends on how it is
used. I stepped on dogshit vs I think you are full of shit.

When someone claim that children learns to cuss in AW, that is as redicilous
as someone claiming that someone who jumped from a roof thought he could
fly, because he could do it in Aw also. Children lerans most cussing from
other children mostly older children. One can hear really grose language
even in kindergarten , and YES from children who has never used internet.
Overprotecting is often as dangerous as no protection at all. As soon as
someting become forbidden or taboo, it also become interesting. In my
opinion information is the best way. Children are not morons or stupid, they
understand things if they are explained in a for them good way. Parents can
often be total morons and idiots tho.

I also find it quite unlikely that children who are so young that they
cannot read will learn much in AW. I know someone will now say they know a 5
years old who can read. I know, but that is an exeption. Since even a large
amount of teenagers (especailly in USA) cannot read properly, not to mention
spell; I do not see a reason to start treating everyone as a 4 years old,
just because one 4 years old out of 100 000 might be able to read.
