I did not bring up the Iraq issue. I simply tried to teach Bowen how to
apriciate and even be thankfull for his ejection. The GK on duty might have
heard or someone might have told him/her that Bowen knows other than G-rated
language and therefore is a threat to a G-rated enviroment. He might have
other proof also, but may not want to present them to protect the GKs way of
obtaining information. I am just trying to use "US" logic in this case.

I doubt the small benefits the GKs get is the reason they become GKs. I know
some people work really hard to help out and I think it is fair they get
some kind of reward, however, since there seems to be some GKs that eject
people out of personal reasons or because of lack in knowldge, I would
suggest there was a " group" that would monitor the actions of GKs. It
should be people who has a sense of fairness and common sense. This only
because AW (the company) seems to not take any interest in the fact that
quite a few people are upset with these "bad" GKs.

Sunds like part of this pre-emtive hysteria going on "over ther". Since
users has the capability of typing and most likely know others than G-rated
words, they become a threat to a G-rated enviroment. Even if the users are
using only G-rated words it is safer to eject him/her before he/she might
say something "bad" ( like Bowen in gate). A good reason for banning people
is also if they use words that you do not understand; like foreign foods
might be some cover up antrax anyway) , chicken breasts ( might offend
vegetarians) etc.

Yes, better warn everyone. Dont trust anyone. The potential evilness is
lurking everywhere. "God bless OUR country ( screw the others) and long live
paranoia!

Yep, just what I meant. There is nothing such as "suitable for all ages"
that would be international. Guess we can be glad AW is not an Iranian
company, but only hosted in about the second most "srict" part of the world;
it will atleast not make us cover up the faces of the avatars, only some
other, in my opinion, innocent parts of the "body". I guess nobody will ever
be able to give me a logical explanation why we are supposed to cover up
genitals, and even worst breasts. Funny thing is also that men are allowed
to be topless but not female. I think this is something that feminists
should start bitching about. It cannot be right that women are not given the
same " rights" as men? The funny part is that for example the nipples on a
man and a woman are basically the same. When an unborn baby is developed all
get the same nipples, and only after that the sex is determinated; that is
the reason why men has nipples in the first place. ( Everyone actually
starts as female). I wonder how for example shemales are are considered.
They are legally men but have breasts; are they allowed to walk around
topless without getting in problem with the law? Can I have a topless
shemale in my G-rated world?

Don't you know that AW is one of the best kept secrets on the net. It is
only meant for a few selected one, who has accidentally run into their page.
One is not to advertise AW, that might cause more customers; no, in AW one
just want to keep a few people and rise the prices instead of having many
customers and lower price. One should also try to make joining AW as hard as
possible, by banning tourists. If some worldowner would like to have
visitors in his/her world against the company will, it is possible if you
pay a 50$ fine. AW do not want people to visit our worlds, god knows , they
might even get hooked on AW, and that is not acceptable....

This is one reason I hate bots, they cannot see the context. If I said " i
skall ha en prick över sig" I would be ejected, and probably have no idea
why. For example I do not recall seeing anywhere when entering the gate that
only some specific languages are allowed. I guess bots could have a list of
"offensive" words that do not have any other meaning that beeing
"offensive", but should definetly not have words that has a "not-offensive"
meaning also.

I would need a simple "proxy" that runs on Unix.

It should be a program that would forward only to one place.
For example if I set in proxy options myserver.com/proxy1 it would connect
to activeworlds port 5690, regardless what the ini says. If I connect to
myserver.com/proxy2 it would connect to activeworlds port 5691 regardless
what the ini file says etc

This way I would not need to edit the ini file and would not become a
terrible criminal. Just out of principe and common sense I am not going to
install 20 browsers on my HD.

I guess it is against the mysterious everchanging EULA to tell about the
contraversial actions of AWI staff.
I honestly did not see any "bad words" or personal attacks in the thread,
yet it was closed. I guess this prooves again how AWI handle things. Someone
dares to critizise the company for having contravercial policy ( read : do
as they please and never have to show you what their decissions are based
on) and they close the thread.
I guess AW cannot do anything to vandals who clutter up places, cheat to
get peoples passwords or delete others world, so they choose to attack
people who they might have a personal reason for not liking; comming up with
new rules, saying one thing, later claiming to have meant something else.

Lesson number one: forget logic and common sence whem dealing with AW.

At this point AWI should be aware of how GKs eject because of lack of
understanding or out of personal reasons. The bots are probably scripted by
these same persons who do not know the difference between Arsole and
Arshole.
What do AWI choose to do? Nothing, since it seems be their policy not to
want prople to join AW and especially not find other universes.

I somehow find this way of thinking disturbing. One is not supposed to
change things that is wrong ?

As a paying citizen, I one has to get some rights to ask for a justice
practice. Many people invest a lot in AW, not always directly, but alwso
inderectly buy buying webspace, hosting, software and models.
If AW suddenly shut down all my worlds, without a reason, I would find it
disturbing. I wonder how you would feel about it ?

Same with these random ejections from worlds owned by AWI. I can understand
that people may do as they wish in worlds they own, but the worlds owned by
AWI, is like the face of AW. When a tourist enter for the first time and
experience an unjustified ejection, it will probably piss him off that much,
he will never register etc

I think we should never accept unfairness, no matter how meaningless the
thing might seem, because if you give the little finger, it will take the
whole hand, as they say.

Well, the point here is not who you was ejected by, a bot or a person, but
the fact that people are ejected out of no reason.
I have also stated before that I belive that most GKs do an excellent job,
but as always if even one in a group acts badly the whole group gets easily
bashed.

It is more a matter of principes. If we are going to tolerate a small
portion of wrongness, next we will have a bigger.
Maybe if somepne would spank you only 5 minutes per day, you should not

People like you make life easy for dictators and such; you are always

I do not bloody care if an ejection is for 5 minutes or 5 months, if it is
wrong it is wrong.

Getting ejected is something I feel ashamed over, it is a punishment for
doing somewthing wrong. It is like if the cops starts to give you small
tickets now and then randomly; just small tickets. My policy is, I do not
take shit from anyone, not even a little, unless I deserve it ( then it is
ok).

Oh well, I do not see how your OP service would differ from that provided my
Heartfall or myself. I guess they have to sue us all then :)
As I see it, in my case, I charge a bit for the empty space and bandwith I
provide. The OP I have gathered from regular AW stuff, freebies, scratchmade
and converted stuff is like an extra. To save people from having to upload
the same stuff and fill u their space with "regular" stuff. I do not see the
logic of having for exaple pp01.rwx in 40 different places on the same
server.

So calm down now Bruce, it is not good for ones bloospressure to shout like
that :) Let people sue if they think they have a case and most of all if
they think it is worth it; until then relax.
