object path passwords cracked // CommunitycodewarriorNov 28, 2003, 6:58pm
I just received one of those fake emails from
objectpasswords at activeworlds.com It has a list of valid object path names and object passwords that are verified to be correct passwords. If you use a password on your zip files, you might want to change it. baroNov 28, 2003, 7:09pm
I wish awi would do something about these kids. Where are the parents in
these cases? if they only knew what their little socialy inept picked on junior high school son was up to.... strike rapierNov 28, 2003, 7:26pm
*yawn* change your passwords, add a random comment line to each file...

Yes, please don't steal from AWI. I instantly deleted it. Stealing is so
wrong. (I am not using sarcasm) [View Quote] a1ct commandNov 28, 2003, 7:36pm

I also deleted the email after forwarding it to bill.

"I am not AW's babysitter, I have a job to do and it does not include fixing
the mistakes of moronic people who can't keep their passwords secure. We have always had a problem with these people and there's nothing we can do if the AW community just comes running to us every time these so called "virtual terrorists" passes gas. The AW community needs to wisen up or we will just sit back and watch you destroy yourselves because we are mighty sick of it. Now, please cease from sending us these e-mails because from now on these will be deleted on sight. Thank You, Bill Hoover" Quite a nice reply. I'm not sure what moronic things we did. Does he think we just gave away all our passwords? Did he not notice many of the worlds in the list were awi worlds? bowen ten.sardna@newobNov 28, 2003, 8:58pm

Many of us know the AWI staff is not to quick. Well, some are a lot
worse than others. I like how they seemed to get rid of all the smart, good people and kept all the nasty, lathargic people. -- --Bowen-- http://bowen.homelinux.com Give me ideas. baroNov 28, 2003, 9:51pm
Now now.. perhaps that wasn't the real bill. Maybe it was those kids faking
his return email. Let's give him the benifit of the doubt. strike rapierNov 28, 2003, 9:52pm
LMAO, they were stolen using the (now neutralised) AWProxy... And its an
old old list.. many have already been changed... Mod was tooo slow... So... technically... the moronic people who couldent keep the passwords secure were erm.. whoever invented the RC4 cipher and whoever decided to leave its keys in till now :O - MR [View Quote] strike rapierNov 28, 2003, 9:57pm
For what.. breaking AWI's little cipher keys, protocol and zip byte
encryption? Giving em a PhD may be better... but thats Sleepy, not Mod... who can just go away for all I care :) - MR [View Quote] lady murasakiNov 28, 2003, 10:10pm
Thanks Bill! I followed all of AWI suggestions to the letter after the last
attack on our OP. Alot of good it did. Oh, and I do appreciate being called a moron by AWI and staff.<---definite sarcasm. [View Quote] ryanNov 28, 2003, 10:21pm

I did not receive a reply like the one here when I emailed Mr. Hoover
over e-mails I received that were defaming his name. The persons who sent me the e-mails WERE spoofing the return address. I highly doubt that any employee of AWI would be that unprofessional. Ryan modNov 28, 2003, 11:03pm
Why the hell do you keep mentioning my name? You got your information wrong
man, I don't even come on AW anymore. As for making a list and being slow, obviously I must be, because I haven't even made one... Wow Strike you need to learn to let me be in peace and not blame me for every little thing you can think of. Although I have already gone away, you can go get a life for all that I care :) -M [View Quote] tag svaNov 28, 2003, 11:28pm

thanks for posting them Xelag
What is the Point is us changing our Passwords when this is only going to happen again ?? Surely AW must be able to prevent this and are they in anyway accountable for it ? , i mean i know nothing about it but you would think AW would provide a secure enviroment. mrbruceNov 29, 2003, 12:06am
Yeah Yeah you all hate me but did I not post a warning that this was
possible a few days ago under Baro's 'Stupid kid email' post? by the way A!!CT's op password was changed months ago, in fact the password in that email I posted myself in this forum over 2 months ago, so janeway-75-theta-6-voyager is NOT correct LOL. MrBruce [View Quote] rossyboyNov 29, 2003, 12:26am
According to Strike's post somewhere higher up in the thread, AW's done
something to the encryption, which is really all they can do to prevent it. so how old is this list ?
my PW was changed after this happened the first time and this list lists the current PW not the old one. strike rapierNov 29, 2003, 12:43am
Pretty old... since a few days before the encryption was altered... Perhaps
milesteg could give us a better date if he remembers when he last changed mutations... the day after? - MR [View Quote] xelagNov 29, 2003, 1:12am
I got it today by email with the following first line:
Here's an early Christmas gift from your favorite AW villain that has broken his 4 month silence: On 28 Nov 2003 21:43:45 -0500, "strike rapier" [View Quote] >Pretty old... since a few days before the encryption was altered... It means that AWI doesn't give a crap about the community. They *want* AW's
existance to cease. [View Quote] |
