Imposter is when a connection is using the old method to "clone" somebody,
that was "fixed". It when you pretty much try to guess what the random id
would be of a person and use it, its still possible but if not done right
you will recieve the imposter error when trying to enter a world :)

Chazbot new build

Aug 18, 2003, 7:48pm
CP, its because of stupid posts like this (among with other things) that
people hate you, Bots do have to do with Community and Worldbuilders. Lets
see. Without a community to use it; there would be no reason for the bot.
The bot also helps worldbuilders because of its many functions. Now a smart
little NG troll would take a hint and shutup, especially since XelaG and
Baron have been making bots before you were ever on AW. So just incase you
don't know the community NGs are for community related discussions,
ANNOUNCEMENTS, and other misc. community related items.

Re: AWI ... pw protection please???

Mar 14, 2004, 1:20pm
Well here's the deal. The way AW protects OP PWs isn't bad, it is just old.
There first mistake was not really taking legal action against matt, and
just saying they did. Remember the last list of op pws that went around.
That was because of AWProxy 3.1 that was still floating around. After aw
disabled use of the 3.2 browser that was solved, but now matt decided to
release his AWProxy 3.4 that he stole from a certain someone. Now that, that
is floating around, no pw will be safe again. That fact of the matter is
this 99% of people on aw wouldn't have the ability to decrypt op pws if the
encryption method wasn't practically public. What I don't understand is back
in the day when they changed the encryption method for cit pws why they
didn't change it for op pws too...hmmm? So the solution is simple change the
encryption method and all pws will be safe, because those that can actually
get it again, certainly wouldn't be releasing any lists :)

heh ya, the cit pw encryption used to be the same as the op pw one, why they
just didn't change it when they changed the cit pw encryption (not to the
same thing:P) is beyond me

actually Eric to be truthfull I would go with the GeForce 4 4600 MX, I have
a friend who bought the more expensive one and a friend who bought the MX
one the only differance is that the MX is considered "generic" brand, but I
guarentee you are going to save a lot of money for the same exact speed for
the same exact warentee :)

All ActiveWorlds Hackers Finally Gone!

Aug 23, 2002, 3:20pm
heh, not like your gonna believe mp3 are you? No don't do that, here is the
true story. mp3 CLAIMS it was his doing getting cits disabled, but no it
wasn't him at all. It was him that had a doing in it though. These are words
straight from bills mouth. There has been a lot of fraud lately in the
company. This came about by the use of a cit generator. Now Mp3 Did have a
part in the cit generator, he was all bragging about it and such. Anyways,
AW was disabling the cits of anyone who was associated with certain ips.
Mine was one of those cits disabled. I got it back today. The thing was with
the cit generator, they also had the ability to log onto other peoples cits,
so some people may have gotten their cits disabled for no reason. So no, it
was not because of AWHack,. but be sure if you are caught using one like Mp3
your cit will be disabled. So Mp3 get the facts straight before you go
around bragging and posting things that are not true.

Object path protection

Sep 9, 2002, 8:46am
It usually helps to put a blank .html file in your directories, this way
they actually have to work to get the files. Even though they wouldnt get
the password through the .zip file itself, if they have it, it will take a
bit more effort to get the objects they want. As for making the pws safer,
They are pretty damn safe. It takes a lot of skill to get the pw, a lot of
sniffing the incoming packets being sent by the world server. There are few
who can do this, and NONE of them will make a "Program" and give it out to
people, so that eliminates "script kiddies". As for Sleepy, I know that he
is 100% against stealing of others objects :)

[View Quote] Windows XP and Living and Dying in LaGrande=20

Windows XP is a computer user's dream come true. If you can get past =
the SP1 fiasco, XP is the most stable and secure operating system ever =
created by Microsoft. What's not to like about Windows XP? Nothing! =
Well, almost nothing. There's just one small problem: spyware. I don't =
recall any other operating system that was so interested in my music =
listening habits, what type of information I search for, what components =
are installed on my system, or that make it impossible to download just =
the files I need to fix the computer.=20

In life, we're used to taking the bad with the good. So what if XP is =
curious about some of the things I do on the computer; it's not like I =
keep State secrets on my computer, and it's not looking for my financial =
data and sending it to Microsoft. So in the end it looks like a "no =
harm, no foul" situation.=20

True, but XP may truly be the devil's workshop. I've talked about the =
dreaded Microsoft Palladium project in a previous newsletter. The =
Palladium project (http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~rja14/tcpa-faq.html) will =
allow Microsoft and a handful of other companies to completely, and =
without limits, control what you can and cannot have on your computer. =
Does your file contain a bad word? Palladium will prevent that file from =
being saved to your computer. Do you have a program "they" don't want =
you to install? Palladium will fix that too.=20

It will take computer hardware to make it work. The processor =
manufacturers will have to help. Intel is stepping up to the plate with =
its "LaGrande" chip. This LaGrande Chip will carry out the malicious =
instructions sent to it by the Palladium software and make sure that you =
don't control the computer. The whole thing is so scary, so enormous, =
that it's hard to find words to communicate what a nightmare this will =
be for everyone.=20

It sounds a lot like something I once read in a sci-fi novel:
"One highly successful Network factory in Dallas specializes in =
lobotomizing Union Interactors [computers] so that they no longer =
connect to outside the data grid, but carry onboard most of the =
information normally accessed from the grid. A lobotomized Interactor =
can't call grid, but it has a fifty Gigabyte Rion that contains world =
knowledge and can be updated for a few dollars at your neighborhood =
information pump. Although the law says that possession of a lobotomized =
computer is a class three felony, subjecting the offender to mandatory =
personality reconstruction, finding a non-grid computer is practically =
impossible, since it never accesses the grid and therefore doesn't =
reveal itself."
--Nature's End (1985)
--Whitley Strieber and James Kunetka=20

Scary, huh? Especially that last sentence. Will you spend time in =
prison for "lobotomizing" your Palladium/LaGrande computer? If the =
consumer (you) isn't vocal, if you don't write to your representatives, =
if you don't let these companies know that what they're doing is wrong, =
you'll end up living in the world described by Strieber and Kunetka in =
"Nature's End" (and it's not a pretty world). Click below if you want to =
learn a bit more about LaGrande. If you don't, we'll all become part of =
their La Grande plan!

use the same dlls and upgrades them thus allowing paint other formats

Nvidia drivers

Dec 1, 2002, 1:50am
Try this, go to internet explorer > Tools > Windows update. When you go
there, let it scan your system. When it is done, click the drivers tab and
download that update to the drivers, it should fix the drivers to be
compatable with all of your programs, if this doesn't work I would try
downloading Direct X 8.1
Hope this helps you :)

Please read / AW HACKED

Jul 14, 2003, 3:55pm
Ok guys I read these ngs and just HAD to respond to this thread, because
frankly Strike Rapier was the closest to getting what actually happened here
correct. It was in fact the Tunnel bug in the world server that was used to
take over Gala. Also, Sleepy E isn't the only one who knows how to do it,
there are a few others :P.(anyone who really wanted to know how would find
so in the differences in the world servers after the tunnel bug was fixed,
'nuff said) Anyways to give a basic overview basically what happened was
the culprits used an application to connect to the ip/port hosting the world
server, and it pretty much bumped the hoster out of control of it. From here
you can do a variety of things since technically you are hosting the world
;-). One of these things is load a propdump, which happened in this case. To
the world owner of Gala. Make sure you are using the latest build of the
world server. The reason why this world was targeted is because whoever was
hosting it, was running an older version of the world server where the
tunnel bug still hasn't been fixed. There are quite a few people out there
who still aren't upgrading the world server. Anyways. M A T T doesn't have
the capability to do this, it wasn't him, trust me. Open your eyes people :)
take a look at the obvious before assuming M A T T does everything, he is
not capable of doing anything significant in AW. He just uses cheap tricks.
Tunneling is way above his level. So to the world owner of Gala take a look
at your world logs, you will be able to tell that control was taken over
from the world in there :) Also take a look at the brief moment the world
went WFS, that was when it happened. I just figured I would set you guys
straight on what happened :)

-Cheers
