Hi Ciena,
Although I do not answer the support emails I do have access to them. Could
you please let me know the SUBJECT or FROM field information? Then I can
look for it.

Bill often times handled support issues using the bill at activeworlds.com
instead of the support at activeworlds.com account which many of you are
familiar with. The address for support is still support at activeworlds.com
and an additional address of tech at activeworlds.com has been created.
Thanks

You're welcome... although the address ray at activeworlds.com is NOT the
correct email address for sending registries to :)
Support at activeworlds.com and tech at activeworlds.com ARE the places to send
issues like this to.
We have several people who monitor various accounts. More than one person
should be able to find your emails and assist you in unresolved problems.
For instance, I have been unable to locate any previous email sent from
nikona at comcast.net in our support database. If I had I most certainly could
have assisted you personally. I could have loaded the registry before
responding to this thread. Emails sent to bill at activeworlds.com though
would not be searchable by anyone aside from Bill. The same holds true with
ray at activeworlds.com If a person goes on vacation or changes email address
then it might be some time (or maybe never) before we catch it and it may
even be necessary to call us. Getting in contact with us through the
newsgroup or relying on information conjectured here might make your
experience very difficult.
We try to make things as non-frustrating as we can. Customers should have
the confidence that their emails will be taken care of with expedience. We
can only assure this if we can find the emails though : )

It is worth looking into. I get complaints about non response all the time.
When I check back in the email log for a specifc account and cannot locate
the "non responded to email" I always wonder where they really sent it to.
We usually do make sure to have vacation responses... or at least myself and
Bill always did.

Actually the sad thing about the funding is I can just hear the discussion

the ball. We need to change direction. We told you to give up the lame
community idea and now we are going to do it for you. We know you put you
hearts into it but... this is business. New directors, new management, new
direction. As soon as you are gone we get our new partners to put 14 million
in."

Yeah, and thanks to their (There) successful plans they aren't doing

To be honest, I can't quite remember how I first found out about
ActiveWorlds way back in late 1995 or early 1996. However, I could swear I
saw a very short announcement or some sort of advertisement on an old CNET
TV show called Cool Tech (or was it CNET Central?). Both shows are now off
the air, but Ryan Seacrest (of American Idol fame) used to be the host of
one of them.
It wasn't an ad, it was a snippet of Virtual Yellowstone. Somewhere I still
have it on an old VHS probly with an old SAAB episode... I never realized it
was Ryan Seacrest...

The reason AWI decided to use a rating system was in order to better inform
people as to the content of a world. It is the responsiblity of world
owners to make sure their rating is set to reflect their content.
Complaints had been coming in due to the influx of adult worlds into the
system. We needed to allow people to set a rating, password it and then be
able to at least get a rough idea of world content. At the time we decided
to use the movie rating system it was because it is much better understood
by the majority of people who are unfamiliar with other rating systems.
While it is certain that there are other system just as good or even better
they might not be obvious to majority of newbies.
Another consideration was the terms of use. While a simple movie type
rating is free to use, the ESRB ratings and logos are strictly controlled
and in some usages are a paid for license
http://www.esrb.org/terms_of_use.asp . Since we needed a fast, easy to
understand, inexpensive solution we determined that a simple movie rating
guide would best suit AW for the time being.
