So you're saying this is YOUR bot Grimm ???
If so..... Don't you think it would have been nice if we world owners were INFORMED of this ?? I know " I'D " like to know exactly what information this bot gathered, as my worlds are CLOSED and PRIVATE...... and see no reason as to why AWC needs to know the content of such...... Anyone else disturbed by this ? [View Quote] WARNING: IMPORTANTApr 1, 2002, 1:17am
In the grand scheme of things here..... considering how many decent ppl
would be hurt by this, I do believe most would agree with me in saying that what you..... ONE person believes, is irrelevant..... I for one am glad he posted this info..... tho I think it was unwise to post the list of ACTUAL passwords..... that wasn't necessary.... and could potentially harm some who OWN those OP paths, and may have not seen this yet :O( And, Yes.... I can also confirm this is not a hoax...... as one of the worlds listed belongs to a close friend and the PW was correct..... :O( fortunately it was changed quite some time ago...... Thank you Strike...... Hope You contacted those world owners.. JB WARNING: IMPORTANTApr 1, 2002, 9:51am
Wings, I can only speak for myself, but Andras has also confirmed this is
NOT a hoax I'd have to say that I do believe he is probably one of the single most trusted and respected individuals IN activeworlds..... And also a very thorough man.... he would not say so unless it was a true and proven fact :O( One of the worlds on that list belongs to a very close friend and the listed PW was indeed the correct one....... Fortunately she had changed the PW months ago after a discussion we had concerning a totally unrelated matter, so apparently whomever is doing or had done this, has been at it for some time :O( as the PW on the list is months old....... I'd suggest if you have any custom Av's or objects on your path, you reconsider your decision and repassword them..... It truly is a bit of an undertaking for someone with a large OP, but are the alternatives acceptable ?? Also is it fair to the modelers who may have made any of the customs, for their work to remain unprotected, for any rotten bag of garbage to help themselves to ? :O( Best I can offer is that Andras' MultiZip program will rezip and PW files in HUGE batches.... I've used it and it works well...... http://andras.net/tools.html#multizip Truly a saving grace in this situation..... Best of luck, JB WARNING: IMPORTANTApr 1, 2002, 10:00am
Do you realize that by being so aloof and disbelieving of this situation in
a public post, You may well be inviting this louse, just to satisfy his own sadistic immoral urges, to crack YOUR pw now, just to be a Prick ?? Pardon my language.... Sometimes best to just quietly go about your business and not draw attention to yourself........ of course, only my opinion JB A Test-- Sort Of!Apr 30, 2002, 12:57am
I have all of em :O) IF you like, I've made two much better sets of
textures for them too..... one, grass and mud, the other is a winter / light snow set... You're welcome to em, if you want em..... JB :O) FWD: AASwampMay 4, 2002, 12:57am

Yes..... Die..... the WORLD..... Hal9000 was awful kind to be generous
enough TO give away the path and all that stuff...... He doesn't HAVE to, after all... at least be polite enough to WAIT until he's ready to.... [View Quote] Password theftMay 17, 2002, 8:11pm
sure ya can run two browsers :O) try this.... works for me...
make "shortcuts" to the two browsers on your quick launch bar at the bottom of the screen, right next to each other, then just click em both, one right after another... do it FAST, and they will both open.... seems it takes a second for the window type to register and your puter doesnt have time to disallow the second browser :O) Of coure, you'd hafta be on two diff cits if both were AW browsers, Havent tried that yet tho.... I use this to be in two uni's all the time..... tho it IS a bit of a hog on resources, it works none the less.... :O) JB CobToRwx problems.May 28, 2002, 1:32am

Being " P.C. " never stopped anyone HERE from bashing the crap out of
someone........ Go ahead Glitter, their opinions are no more valuable than yours. Everyone's got a right to post theirs.... Be a bit more interesting than going through the myriad of useless " Hey, why doesnt such and such work...... next post : NM........ I actually READ the instructions " posts..... But be warned..... prepare to get slammed by SOMEONE..... this IS aw and trolls abound :O/ JB trueSpace 4 TutorialsJun 4, 2002, 11:23pm
Robbie's right..... I've used both 4.3 and 5.1.... personally I prefer
5.1, but thats only because i knew 4.3 well enough...... 5.1 is substantially different in so far as the menus are concerned. there's an awful lot more tools ( that you'll never use for AW ) and it took a fair amount of RE-learning to get all the needed functions down pat..... For someone starting out, definately learn 4.3 first...... it CAN be a little confusing at first, but it's a good amount simpler than 5.1 and it's also still a damn good program for making AW objects, and more affordable too ! ;O) considering you have the books for 4.3, I'd recommend sticking with 4.3.... at least for now..... there's going to be some things in those books that wont help at all with 5.1 since they did some changing around with the menus...... things you wont even be able to find if you follow instructions for 4.3....... I've read a few of robbie's tutorial pages and he's done a darn good job there :O) helps a lot when you can SEE what the menu buttons and assorted. properties boxes apply to..... being most programs have SOME manner of pull down menus for tools and such, of which TS has FEW,..... seeing this stuff helps a lot ! Good Luck Modelling ! JB p.s. if you want some proof that 4.3 works great, stop into the world JADE and take a look at the wonderful stuff there.... one of my best friends here owns it and she used 4.3 to make it all :O) trueSpace 4 TutorialsJun 5, 2002, 1:05am

too........ oh well, guess the world wont come to an end :O) flame on ppl ! trueSpace 4 TutorialsJun 7, 2002, 8:26pm
well paul, I'd agree with you, if not for ONE point......
she's spent quite a bit of money already for TS4, and a bunch of manuals and books..... would you have her throw her money away so flippantly ? I think you'll agree that she could make extremely nice things with 4.3..... Lady Murasaki sure doesnt seem to be having any problems.... all she uses is 4.3.... and you sure spend plenty of time in her worlds looking around, studying her work or whatever.... anyone using 4.3 can make very nice things with it..... and save themselves a bit of money in the process :O) JB trueSpace 4 TutorialsJun 8, 2002, 2:36am
You'll have to decide for yourself barbara... :O)
I think 4.3 is easier to learn than 5.1 considering your reference materials available..... also from my own personal experience with both programs, but of course, thats only my opinion..... Best of luck with whichever you choose :O) JB 3.3: First ImpressionsJun 8, 2002, 2:41am
It will Barbara, until you either raise or lower the individual terrain
cells in relation to the ground object. see, flat default terrain is at the same level as a traditional ground object... kind of like when you overlap two floor or walk panels... they're both at the same "altitude" Hope this helps.... :O) JB Weebette (1958 - 2002)Jun 8, 2002, 12:58pm

AND...... in case you hadn't considered this..... they COULD boot yer at $$, if they decided that doing unauthorized (unsupported, whatever you wanna call it) upgrades this way was some manner of attempting to hack into their web server to get stuff you aint supposed to have yet, since there ISN'T a manual update option...... "Technically" you're not supposed to do this........ know what I mean ? Just something to think about..... Some ppl get kinda Pissy when you screw around with their software like that.......... So far AWC's been pretty timely in fixing these sorts of problems....... a couple weeks with screwy sequences aint gonna kill anyone ;O) JB |
